I got it on my steamdeck and all the UI I set up to 110, and everything is perfect, you can even play on your Hotspot, the game runs great and I already played it on Playstation before so controls are fantastic

even though I play this game mainly on PC, this video got me wanting to try out the game on the deck since i already got one. And to my surprise it ran really well and I got used to the control pretty quick. One of my concerns back then was how good my play would be in raids on the Deck, i didn’t even struggle to get good parse. Now i can play out and about on the train or whenever

I like the convenience of it since I can play monster hunter both on my switch and the steam deck. it was a great purchase idea. I wonder how it will hold up to the new armored core game though.

Also, playing it locally sips 5G bandwidth over streaming it via Remote Play. I had it running for nearly 10 hours last night and I didn't even think I used a GB of data.

@@EverCanadian I was playing the game years ago but stopped due to no longer having a machine to run it on and was exclusively playing Switch for quite some time. Got my Deck all set up with 2tb and thinking about diving back in! I have typically played healers in MMOs, wondering how the heck I'll be able to do that with a controller! But maybe there's a way.

I've been having fun with the free campaign on Steam Deck. I haven't subscribed for years but might come back just to play it on the Deck. I use the Viture XR pro glasses and play at 720p upscaled with FSR to 1080p. Still getting 60fps. Awesome to see you're enjoying it so much.

Hi, I just ordered a Switch OLED after watching some of your videos and... Just wanted to tell you, that there is a Free Trial Version of FF14 where you can play up to level 70 and the base game + the first 1 or 2 DLCs are also included with no time restraints and no need to pay a monthly subscription.

Was the first game I downloaded on my deck. Had mine for 2 weeks now, it’s brilliant. Top tips Change Wi-Fi off power save mode (stops the random disconnects from steam server) Set up UI on a PC/console and remember to export your UI settings on the character screen, you can then download on your deck and your UI is good to go, I lowered scaling to 80% and it fits perfectly

I just started playing WoW with a controller. I use an addon and it can be finnicky sometimes, but 90% of the time it's great and the 10% of time it bugs, i just use my mouse really quick.

from a person 4400 hours in (oh god why did i look....) can confirm it still holds up at endgame (level 90). valve is also constantly pushing proton experimental fixes just for ffxiv it plays the pc versions (SE retail and steam) of ff14, it feels the same as playing on my pc besides the turned down graphics on the deck. and the experience is nearly identical on playstation, because you can just plug in a keyboard and mouse, and change modes in the game.

I'm curently messing around with virtual menus and action layer to get what I want. It feels much better coming from PC.

And apparently there's a bug where action layers revert so I can't position the menus over the ui hotbars :/ It works fine on it's own though. Mouse reigions looks like it could work too, but FFXIV doesn't play the hovering over a button sound if you move too fast from the previous button which is most of the time at the decks resolution. Ah it plays the sound whenever the mouse pointer turns to a hand so if there's not enough time to turn back inbetween it doesn't. Also no haptics unlike the virtual menu so that's still looking better to me. If valve builds an api games that use it can do some really nice things. And there's a bug where the action layer sound plays through the SD speaker when you have headphones plugged in.

Something I became heavily reliant on in this game is the Steam Deck’s Virtual Menus placed on the touchpads as eventually, you’ll accumulate tons of moves that you’ll need quick access to. I added two additional hotbars, set them up in a grid, placed some moves in there, assigned each hot bar button to a keyboard combo (ctrl or shift + 1-9), and assigned a fancy icon to each move in the Steam virtual menu. If you wanna find some inspiration from it, I have the control scheme uploaded under “Scholar w/ Touchpad Menu” Nevertheless, I’m glad you’re enjoying the game!

I have like 3000 hours in game and Savage raid weekly- I cannot imagine why you would need to put that many extra buttons and bars when you already have RL/LR, double taps, and swaps.

@@AlexanderAnthis I think you’re misunderstanding. There are menus that you have to activate in the settings that make it so your entire cross hotbars change when you hit R, L, L>R, R>L, RR, LL. That’s like 6x the buttons. I have entire rotation, plus bars for switching classes, macros, teleports, etc, all accessible in one button combo.

I know they have their uses, but I prefer a more simple “move thumb to top-mid trackpad”. Plus, it has the added bonus of simultaneous execution of the trigger executions. But whatever works for you, works for you. I understand that different methods feel more natural to different people.

I started playing this on my deck less than a week ago and already clocked over 30 hours. It may be a little finicky with figuring out a UI that meshes well with the deck but that's half the experience of this game, there's so much UI customization. Overall it's been great, not to mention I've been playing the free version up to level 60 and I feel like I'm breaking the law having so much fun for free. So far planning on buying the expansion once I hit the level cap, not sure I'll buy another game any time soon....

The steam deck does get warm on certain games, it vents through the top , I have played it for multiple sessions without out issues. I'm having some trouble, I keep getting a problem with the Steam Trail Verison, saying it can't update the launcher. I tried doing a fix in Glitchy's video but it doesn't seem to work. Now I'm getting a -113 HTTP error when trying to launch the game. Have you had to do anything since you made this video? As I heard there was an update that messed with things. I really want to play this, so appreciate any help.

For the love of god tell me how to get this working on my steam deck, it just loads a black screen. Ive added my non steam game to the library, and it doesnt work. Ive tried the launcher thingy, but I can't input my id or password. nothing works! Ive tried to install windows 10 and the controller doesnt work right. This is the only way i will go from only having 4 tanks, 1 healer, 3 dps, 3 gatherers, and 1 crafter at max lvl90 ... to having ALL classes maxed xD lol

Hi! I just got a steam deck, i was able to launch ff14, but i couldnt play it all since the game defaults the joystick as a mouse, because of that, i couldnt make my character walk at all. I tried every settings, even went to reddit to ask for help, but nothing is working. Did you experience the same problem too when you started? If so, what kind of fixing did you do?

I have an issue where it doesn’t pick up my joystick as a controller but as a mouse is there a setting I’m missing cause everytime I’m trying to configure my controller it sees it as a mouse.

i came to your vid and stopped 5 min in .. the way you say Chocobo ... its like Chocolade or China , there is no K in the beginning... its nice that you are "having a blast" , you dont need to repeat yourself every 30 Seconds . And I hope you find out that at Level 30 you can become a Paladin , not a Gladiator anymoe ;)

This video was very, very repetitive. Might be worth writing down some points prior to playing and going through them one by one, trying not to repeat anything that has already been said Also chocobo is pronounced chocobo. No, seriously. A friend once told me it was pronounced "chocoboo" so that's what I was calling them, but I'm playing FF15 ATM (on Deck, ofcourse, and just started FF14 also) and Ignis did say chocobo exactly as it's spelt. My friend might have been referring to a Japanese pronunciation, IDK

@@EverCanadian was just impossible to listen to, from a viewer's perspective. I had to switch off half way through. I know the second half is just going to be you saying "wow guys, I am SO shocked that I have FF14 as portable now! This is so convenient!" in several reworded ways Proud I made it that far, was hoping you were going to tell me some stuff I didn't know and make some interesting points. But it was a struggle

There is a very simple work around for this, I did it a while back and my memory is terrible but I think it was just a custom launch option. Square is chatting wafflle with all this no crossover account between steam and windows versions. You can swap between them no problem. I followed a guide on youtube, you should be able to find it pretty easily.

Also a laptop by design is PORTABLE. Why play this on a tiny ugly screen vs a beautiful 17in oled laptop... both are portable and you can use a controller on the laptop while also being able to type. It will be hell to type on this device

Ok, I have to eat humble pie now 😂I actually after more research realized, these 56 year old eyes would go cross eyed looking at the deck screen and I don’t want to deal with Linux no matter how annoying Windows can be. I DID buy a 17.3 inch gaming laptop and very thankful I did. No squinting and I can use it for many other purposes like looking at movies, tv, documents, anything I want. Yes, it is heavy but of course I have it on a desk. I use my iPad Pro when I’m in bed. I plan on getting a steam deck sometime next year to use when I’m in bed relaxing etc, unless another device comes along in 2023 that seems better. We shall see!
