The lcd model is great to start with. But if you want to play more demanding games, it might be better to get the OLED model, wait for a SD2 or try out the Ally or Legion Go 👍

I have the og 512gb lcd model it’s great, treated myself to it on Christmas Day from eBay for £320 and don’t regret it and I’m new to the pc gaming thing as I’m a console player

Before I say anything, we must all be happy to be able to experience this fine piece of tech! We are one community with our decks, never forget that! Before you would choose a model, remember that OLED is great but time takes it away faster then it does with the LCD! It burns in quicker, has blue and yellow ish burns after extensive use after a while, so keep that in mind if u want it for the long run! Anyhow, the LCD and OLED are the same systems, with some upgrades like the battery life, fan noise, and ofc the screen. The buttons are very minor changes, and there is no significant FPS you get with the oled just a couple more frames! It doesn't give u a major boost in performance. The LCD is perfect for the price it is being thrown around right now, so if u want one go and pick it up! If later on u decide in the case of the OLED sure, but it is more pricey and u must remember that. There are drawbacks with both models, so make your decisions with that in mind. Either way, I own both systems and use both for my gaming sessions. Both are very worthy of their prices, it is up to your budget on which you would buy for yourself!

I have the LCD and the OLED, a friend has the LCD but he uses his docked pretty much all the time with a BT controller. So to him the LCD is totally fine. On the move though, the OLED is the way to go!

The LCD model is just fine for docked mode. Only thing that’s nice on the OLED model docked with a BT controller is that sleep-wake function. I do agree with you, OLED on the move is the way to go 🤜🤛

remember folks, no matter how fast the wifi in the device is your still restricted by your router speeds, i get just as fast download speeds on my wifi as any other device, as for the screen i got the deck to take on the go and if i want sheer beauty i use my gaming desktop, now if the deck is your only pc then get the oled but if you already have the LCD version then dont rush out to upgrade its not really worth it.

Sold my steam deck with a few extra accessories to a friend for $430. Oled model is great and it made me spend more money on OLED everything so i can experience it everywhere but holy its pricey 😂 im broke af now. Might return the oled monitor and wait for the new models next month.

@@RobinB360 the KTC 27inch OLED one that a few RU-vidrs made videos on. I read up on it on Reddit hearing it was on a great sale so I went for it at $630 but I heard there's no warranty for OLED burn in and also new models coming out next month so I might return it

@@RobinB360 it's been great tho and surprisingly ok ish speakers built in. Max peak brightness in HDR is 895 something matte display kinda ehh. The text looks weird as people say. It's great but coming from my Asus IPS pg27qn something model it's an ok difference. OLED is OLED but when I look at my Asus monitor the texting being normal and also it looks somewhat good with black levels compared to OLED throws me off. There's the normal bright spots from led backlit or whatever it's called which annoyed me but idk I need to use the monitor more I feel like. It's been pretty busy

Switch oled owner here and Xbox x. I play mostly roguelikes on my switch. Will the lcd be good enough. I plan on some aaa games like hogwarts and maybe cyberpunk. 399 vs almost 600 with tax is a a lot of cheddar.

Hey there! The LCD model will be good enough for roguelike games. You can play some AAA games on the LCD model but with lower settings. If you are used to the switch OLED, you probably want the steam deck OLED. If you want a far better experience on AAA games, you could look into the Asus ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion Go 👍

OLED overrated. It’s nice, but you can snag LCD decks for under $250 and at that price it isn’t worth double the money for the display. LCD now, steam deck 2 in a few years.

Its not just an upgrade on the display. I have the OLED and have owned ths LCD and the let me tell you the difference is night and day. The oled is far superior then the LCD. But hey, to each their own.

I would say $250 for an LCD Steam Deck is a great deal. If you have the extra money and want the best experience, personally I would go for the OLED model. It’s much better on pretty much every front. Its nice to have multiple options out there, so as @hollowprincegaming7547 said, to each their own.
