Steam Deck Windows Handheld Companion Full Guide 

How can you call this a full guide if you don't even show the process of installing the program? Or provide a link for it....

After installation it wont open for me

The steam/option button keeps opening steam app and launching steam in big picture mode. Its really annoying cos it prevents me from using the steam key to create any hotkey shortcut in HC hotkey menu.

I just updated to the newest version and tested out MW2... I dont know what magic these developers did but the game is running 100% better than before. Dont get me wrong it was working great the last update, but holy whaaaa now i get a big FPS increase on the MW2, Playing about 3 TDM matches i barely seen the FPS dip below 50.... GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!!

guys I don’t recommend handheld companion on the deck if ur not a tech savvy, I was changing stuff mindlessly, testing a game with it, crashed, uninstalled it and it completely broke the windows touchscreen and controls, but recently, someone part of handheld companion discord told me a solution, I’ll keep you guys updated but anyways yes, if ur not a tech savvy and u don’t know what ur getting ur self into, don’t do it, follow and listen to a guide like this one and don’t be careless like me, know what ur getting ur self into.

I'm using the latest version of HC and the overlay menu is NOT same as shown in your guide. There's no option in the hotkey menu to enable overlay side menu. When I set a hotkey for the display 3d controller option, it only shows the steam controller with no overlay side menu

Steam deck tools is actually miles ahead of HC in my opinion. Sure it might not have such a nice GUI, but I kind of like it It is also the only app to mimic the steamOS fan curve. Also the way SDT handles the controller is just better than HC or handheld control panel. I change the controller type from keyboard and mouse to xbox once in game and never again. So when I launch a game it automatically switches to controller and when I exit it goes back to K&M. Honestly if you can install windows on the deck then you are tech savvy enough to use SDT, also another bonus point is all the shortcuts SDT has.

thanks man, I have through all option to prevent double input issue, no ones work, except yours ! ( Tips : Turn off desktop layout, before play any game supported ! )

Your videos are helpful but be great if you explained what options you were using instead of saying "first one and third one" as option layouts changed with more updated versions of handheld companion. Hard to read the options on phone. Thanks for the help. Appreciated. Liked video 👍

On my steamdeck i have windows 11 and spiderman install on controller layout shows up playstation controller when it shouldnt and wont let me use the steamdeck controllers

You dont show HOW you set the STEAM button to be the windows button. I dont see that anywhere

great video, but what about enabling performance metrics when ingame, is there a way to show game performance nd tdp usage while ingame. Steamdeck tools has an overlay to enable performance metrics through rivatuner. Does Handheld Companion have something like that ?

Maybe I'm getting old, but even the latest version of this is finicky, flaky and has piss poor tutorials. Yes I know it's not official and is by one person, but would like to see a decent quick start guide. All I want to play is Monster Bash on DosBox with my deck....can't make it work....no matter what I do.

How do I get left side presentation screen to show up? I only get this display menu with 4 keys when i mapped the first two option keys

I tried this before but after installing, it just sits in the system tray and will not open reinstalled multiple times until I finally gave up and went back to SD tools. I hope they fixed this.
