it'd be a nice thought to have an extra rail installed for the gauge of that steam locomotive, it seems such a lovely engine, and abit of a waste to keep it on that demostration line
hi, i'm a volunteer on the Epping Ongar Railway and as i'm sure you know, the railway re-opened in MAy 2012 with standard gauge steam and diesel locomotives hauling the trains, inculding ex GWR hall class 'pitchford hall'. This loco is just one of four steam locomotives that we have on the line. others consit of a ex gwr prairie, an 0-6-0 ex industrial loco and an 0-4-0 ex dockyard loco. why not come down and vist us once we resume services after the winter period, services resume at easter 2013
I thought that would be the case - should have listened to the old saying 'get it before its gone' (or words to that effect). Anyhow thanks for making them available through YT and I'll look forward to watching any new stuff. For the record my particular favourites are the Garden Railway; Narrow Gauge in the Garden and Miniature Pleasures series. Keep up the excellent work Glyn
Having just watched this video I was reminded of a yard near Lavenham in Suffolk I had reason to visit back in the late 90's where I was amazed to see about fifteen or twenty large railway locomotives that looked similar to the one in this video. If I remember correctly I was told that they had come from Finland and were destined originally for a theme park somewhere. I wonder if this was one of them.
Hi Glyn - yes, sorry to say that I now no longer sell these DVDs - but everything I've shot is up here (somewhere) and I'll continue posting any new work.
The railway has certainly changed since this was done! But there's still a lot to do to get it going again. But fingers crossed we'll see the line up and going once again very soon...
I have the DORLING KINDERSLEY DK EYEWITNESS GUIDES Book of TRAIN. Discover the story of railways - from the days of steam to the high speed, sophisticated trains of today. In association with THE NATIONAL RAILWAY.
That engine is no longer on the railway, having been taken by the previous owner. Apart from that, it was too tall for some of the bridge clearances along the line.
Sorry! But the railway is closed until further notice due to engineering and remodelling works. No date for reopening has as yet been announced. Any changes will be noted on the website.
What an amazing locomotive! Perhaps adding another rail outside the standard gauge for dual gauge could allow it to pull standard gauge trains? Although I'm not sure if the buffers would be close enough to work. Still, great to see the railway progressing!
RockyRailroad Animation you have the problem of which side do you add the rail to as you are going to have problems no matter which side you put it and dual gauge points are a pain to install and use as some trains are inclined to pick the points and derail which is fine for narrow gauge ones that only weight 16 tons but for the full size that weigh over 50+ tons you have a slight problem as you can’t get jacks that are portable that lift that weight without paying a hefty price tag.
the top and line on the track is appalling but to be exspected being bought from LUL, dipped joints and twist faults with bullhead rail is always a problem , but i am sure the track will be improved at some point, well done to the E.O.R!
...I'll continue with my post below (having posted the first bit prematurely by mistake!!) As I was saying - since I came across the Railway Channel on You Tube recently I have enjoyed the may and varied railways you have recorded. I believe at one time you were selling dvds of the various series etc but I suspect I am now too late to obtain these? If they are still available I would be grateful if you could advise. All the best, Glyn
The Tk3 is the type of steam locomotive he has there, and yes it is a very good locomotive on the mainline. However, the red paint scheme they have on it is just awful. :(
