QUICK FOLLOW UP:
- There is a section on Steam dedicated to helping you in the account recovery process, you can find it here: help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0A94-F308-34A5-1988
- It might not be exactly a "steamcommunity" link but an alternative, but like with steamcommunity links you can check the spelling (sometimes "rus" may be included or a ".ly", avoid links that contain those)
- For safety reasons, do NOT try to put bullshit information in the text boxes
- auronplay is probably not going to be the same person that tries to scam you, it could be anyone
- The person in the video (wii.than) was hacked, but he successfully got his account back as of writing this
- I would recommend changing your password and contacting Steam if you do end up getting scammed
- Sometimes Steam will tell you if a link is malicious
- Please report the user to Steam. If the username of the sender does not match the name of the gift card, report the user as a compromised account. If they match, report them for trying to scam/fraud

A person I've never seen in my life added me as a friend on Steam yesterday (around 7pm) and, strangely enough, at 5am this same person kept sending me a link that I had won 50R$ as a card on Steam,I didn't accept it right away, because it's not every day that someone adds you and a few hours later, that same person sends you a gift like that, great video, by the way, it helped me a lot

Somebody tried to do this to me on Steam also, but it turned out my friend’s account got hacked. I wanted to make sure before I clicked it on my computer so I did it on my phone, I got the same results as you did. -Fake website -Said I was logged out -Tried to make me log in Immediately closed out my browser, and went into my phone settings to clear browsing data and history… To that scammer: Nice try pal…

you saw that box that popped up where the actual real steam url was and requested you to login. as a nerd ill explain this. what you are looking at is not a seperate window, its an embed inside of the website and the url etc. is fully fake and just pure text. how can we know that? well minimize your chrome browser or whatever browser your using and try to drag that newly opened window out of your minimized browser window. if it works, you have a real seperate window. you will be able to do that if you login to your paypal on authentic sites for example but if it doesnt work then its a scam and you should never ever enter any credentials in there as they can be saved or sent to an attacker via http requests. stay safe

So today i actually signed into that link because it was sent from one of my friends. I said thanks and he started saying DONT DONT CHANGE EVERYTHING NOW and he called me on discord and i changed my password. I have 2FA and it said some guy from russia signed in. I deauthorized devices and changed everything i could within time so i was lucky. Sorry if that was a stroke to read, have a good day

you could probably contact steam support and provide evidence that you own the account when you do so i would assume thats how it goes for any scam, and there's an entire section on steam dedicated to helping you recover stolen accounts help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0A94-F308-34A5-1988

Knowing that this is a lousy attempt to gather account info, I would assume so. And while it's funny as hell, I wouldn't recommend doing it. They can probably see who sent that information anyways even if you put random bullcrap as a name and password.

i almost fell for one of these it was a diferent link (not the real steam one) i logged in and i dont know what happend for some reason the hackers didnt hijack my account maybe it was my web browser or steam itself that blocked the login but i changed my password anyways (i think the hackers had stole my friends account before because i messaged him and he had no clue what was going on)
