You may have seen the stunning poppy display at Foley Park, on the Severn Valley Railway, as it has been covered in the national press. I finally managed a visit on July 2nd commencing shooting on the west side of the line before moving over to the east side for some different angles. One rarely sees shots from the latter, apart from sunset scenes, which is a pity. Finally I caught a train from Bewdley to Kidderminster to get shots from a totally different view point. The locomotives featured are: 34027 Taw Valley, 75069, 4144 & 1501 and 7325.
The amazing poppy display is one that I will remember for a long time.

A lovely sight indeed Alan and so well captured on what appears to be an energetic day..... I've walked that field myself (without poppies of course) and filmed in the gorse the opposite side but that was to escape the crowds who think they own the land by the distant signal!! regards,Brian.

there's been a derailment involving 75069 this week Alan the engine was running light engine to bridgnorth when it hit the tree which had fallen on the line during the storm

are the poppies being grown as a crop, or did they just sprout there and found that they liked it?

I'm not too well up on the opium market potential in Bewdley, I suspect the latter! We had a field opposite Eardington Station do this about eight years ago but nothing since. Apparently the Flanders poppies appeared after the ground was churned up during WWI but these fields are ploughed each year without the display every time. Maybe it was last summer's heatwave...or Brexit!!

I thought it might be something to do with the multi-year process of preparing land for organic crop production, but a search reveals nothing about that.
