▶DESCRIPTION: Join Ceres Rail Company on a steam-only, 250 km round-trip from Cape Town. Our destination is Ceres!
The journey departs from Harbour Bridge Platform (close to the Cape Town International Convention Centre). The journey takes passengers through Paarl, Wellington, the Nuwekloof Pass, Wolseley, Michells Pass, and finally into Ceres.
On board our train, guests can enjoy the wonderful scenery from various seating options whilst sipping on drinks from our fully licensed cash bar or snacking in our dining car.
Passengers are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets (please buy your drinks onboard).
The service is suited to all ages and promises to be an experience to never forget. Kids under 2 travel free.

Good video of the steam train! Great location where the overhead wires are mounted on bridge supports so you don't have any masts obscuring the sight.

Greetings from Bergvliet. I was on the train last Tuesday with my family for the trip to Ceres. I loved every minute of it! My dad and I also got the opportunity to get up close with 19B 1412 and also climb up into the cab of 19D 3321 to take a photo when we arrived in Ceres. She is unfortunately not in the best condition according to my dad. I'm not sure what Ceres Rail have planned for her in terms of getting her back up and running again.

@@RAILFANinSOUTHAFRICA Thanks very much for the reply. Don't worry about no whistles in the video, I got plenty of that while on the train. I might have to do some digging and find out what has been planned for 19D 3321. I'm sure 19B 1412 is in a much better condition at present because I believe she took part in the Ceres Mountaineer event last year.
