First off, Rabbit's hips should be illegal. Second, I can not deal with the sex that is The Spine in that damn coat. Good Lord. Add absurd talent to this equation and you get one very hot and flustered me.
Yeah, right? The whole band oozes charisma and cool. I'd love to take Rabbit home with me. Spine just makes my heart skip a beat. Michael Reed is hot too. Jon just lost his love for the band. Sam makes up for it. I wish this line-up was still out there and still in sync....
3 Of the best things about this video: 1. Rabbit's toaster, Jenny 2. Spine's awesome trenchcoat 3. Jon's deadpan face as he pretends to be a real part of the band.
To be honest though, you were kinda right. The Jon is my favorite robot but this performance is one of his final shows in his time with the band, and you could tell. He looks very disillusioned here, like he doesn't even want to be there. You could tell it was only a matter of time before he left. Always makes me wonder what changed.
Xaidcaveman He left to take up an acting career. I guess he didn't see himself performing like this for the rest of his days. Regardless, I think we all can tell that Hatchy has snuggled right on in and is going nowhere. :)
I noticed something.. there's a little girl with long black hair in the front close to the end of the video. Every video I've seen from the past two years of them playing the Zoo has her in it. Admittedly, long black hair and that complexion are no rarities, but then I see the girl's... Mother? Big SIster? And I realize... those kids are some big fans. Something about that just warms my heart.
Watching Jon try and perform with such little passion in tact hurts my heart... He's my favorite, but him leaving was for the best, I guess. Hatchworth is a pretty kickin' automaton, too.
@@tylermech66 He didn't choose to leave, he was kicked out but wasn't really in love with doing it anymore. He supported the decision and even helped console Bunny and David when they were getting backlash about it.
yeah, watching his earlier stuff compared to this is heart wrenching, though if you watched the 10 year anniversary he seems really into it, so I suppose they made up their differences.
@@tylermech66 With the 10 year show, it was a 1 time show. It wasn't really that they had differences in anything other than priorities. Jon was not able to work with the increase in practices and shows. The zoo shows didn't help as it was daily. David and Isabella have shared stories about those days and getting the make-up off was a nightmare just to have to put it back on the next day and Jon had open sores because of it. Jon went on to work with what made him happy and we had Sam and Bryan since and all add to the band's personality. My perspective is that for most of their performances that I have seen on youtube that The Jon was deadpan for most of the songs and there for the comedy between sets. I haven't seen any of the bits between songs in the last year where he was part of the band to know if he just did lack passion or not.
@We Are it was sort of a mixed thing. They felt it was healthier for him and better for the future they had planned for the band, and he was already losing his passion for it and wanted to pursue photography instead so it was more of an agreement they all made than them kicking him out of him leaving. It was an issue they all ended up agreeing on.
I was here because I used to live in San Diego. Saw this band but didn't find them till today. Loved them when I was younger. Still do. So happy I had seen them then.
Probably because he knew he was destined to be with the band longer than Jon. This is me coming from a place of not knowing the situation personally, but it's hard to keep your heart in it when you can see that people don't want to work with you anymore.
I’m so sad I couldn’t be there to se it back then. This band is so freaking AMAZING! I love rabbits robotic movements tbh she’s my hero of the band I so wish I was there 😭😭😭
If you haven't seen the tenth anniversary show I highly suggest it, SPOILER it's a WAY better send off for The John, he looked like he was having a lot of fun.
Oh, I was talking about the megaphone. @2:35 min Rabbit says: "You're 2 yrs old now little buddy, you haven't broke yet. I jinxed it didn't I? Must be my lucky Rabbit's foot."
God i really would like to see and meet these guys unfortunately i live in a different country :( too expensive to go see them but im here listening and watching guys :)
8:09 Mr. Reed almost immediately putes the rose into his shirt! Also, at 8:06 Hatchworth starts putting as many flowers in his mouth as he can, slowly one by one, but he tries!
Man... The Jon looks like he just wants to go home and sleep. If I'm not mistaken, this show was near the end of his career with Steam Powered Giraffe, so that may explain his obviously low effort.
This was when Rabbit was shining. Since her transformation the personality seems to be gone. I am happy that she is getting to be what she wants to be, but the things that made her stand out are over. The fire is not there anymore.
As a kid living in San Diego with a zoo membership during this time, Steam Powered Giraffe playing at the zoo was one of the best parts for me. I had their CDs in my Tinker Bell boombox and went to see them nearly each week. Now they've got hundreds of thousands of listeners on Spotify and I'm an adult, but seeing clips of them on Instagram or hearing one of their songs in a playlist is honestly so nostalgic to me. I lived outside of San Diego when they stopped performing, and I remember just how sad I was when I came back and they didn't play anymore
i loved it. wish I had been there. I'm new to the spg experience and I'm blowen away. there freakin brillant. the concept and there voices just kick major robot booty. awesome.
College has been taking my time up lately but I just remembered how much this band meant to me this summer. And how listening to them was the only thing that cheered me up my third day of college when I was feeling overwhelmed and down. I freaking love SPG. It's quite emotional to see the end of this summer's journey (their journey, but one the fans followed.)
this is absolutely my favorite song of all time. I listen to it every day. this and several others by these guys. they should be way more famous with live perfection like this. steam powered giraffe is "dinner and a show" I am a lifetime subscriber.
It's funny because A) All the bots are bald to some degree and B) You can't seem to spell Jon's name right despite your apparent love for him. Seriously, it's fine to have an opinion, but spamming ignorant hatred on every freakin' video is not the way to go. It's probably not good for the soul. Have a hot coffee and think about your life choices or something.
72 consecutive days? That might have been difficult for someone who had other jobs as well, and a family. As much as they loved their work, I bet that was tiring.
