Thank you for posting! When I was very young and before we had air conditioning, we’d leave our windows open at night and, failing asleep I could hear all the sounds of the night. In the distance, I’d hear the whistle of the Southern or Illinois Central in the distance. This video takes me back to a very happy, peaceful time.
+puxorb Glad to hear you enjoyed seeing the 18! If you're interested, we have hosted a charter with 18 before and will likely do so again, if you'd like to know when another event with 18 is announced please sign up for our email list by emailing Everett Meehling at railroader1108@gmail.com and requesting to be placed on the charter email list.
Glad you enjoyed. Since you asked about the like/dislike ratio, generally any video with higher views tends to have more dislikes. The public isn't as appreciative of train videos as our subscribers would. It's irritating at times, but that's the trade for a video getting popular.
I believe he’s referring to Milwaukee Road 265, which is displayed at IRM and a sister to the 261. From what I’ve heard, it would need a lot of work to ever run again.
Well Norfolk Southern and the Fort Wayne Historical Society runs Nickel Plate 765 and BNSF runs Santa Fe 3571. Norfolk Southern and the Stratsburg runs Norfolk Western 611.
@@MidwesternRailfan well those ones are also out there, which is very good, but 611 isn't pulling anything. 611 is being towed around alot, only being in steam for transport rather than for use as motive power. The t1 will have a tuff time running in since they intended it to run on Amtrak high speed sections, and 700, 4449, and 197 can't go anywhere.

36:17 engines of this class are just about THE last in regular service anywhere in the world, with a few others scattered. Sandaoling is taking their remaining 4 JFs out of service at the end of the season; sad I never got to see them.
Jacob Ditmars from where? Sandaoling? I doubt it. The reason those locomotives are being retired is because they’ve been run into the ground. Any of their locomotives would probably require an extensive rebuild to meet any kind of regulations here.
@@eriknewland3686 I did have sandaoling in mind, but I hadn't really considered that. In addition, they would probably want to restore their own 2-8-0 first. Regardless, those locomotives could make good engines to preserve (saticly most likely) thanks to their unique statis of the last steam locomotives used in everyday service. Better then the cape gauge garratts retired in 2018 from Zimbabwe or 4-8-2s from south Africa. Also, Greece has a few usatc s100 and s160 locomotives that could be restored, albeit in a similar state to the JFs.
The 17 needs too much work to be rebuilt, and it will actually be going on display outside of Boone. B&SV is currently rebuilding 8419, but they have a total of seven different diesels that can be used for the time being.
@@DynamoProductions-trains i guess they are good on the motive power front. I have a tendency of finding out about foreign steam locomotives that eather need restoration, or where recently or will be retired, and keep thinking how the IAIS and Boon inported Chinese locomotives.
Can we just make a petition to bring the steam program back like if you agree I don’t know how to do that but if we work together and some donations it can happen and it’s stupid that when lots a people donated to the people who were restoring 611 hopefully knowing that it would run on the main line but only ran for a few years now we have a perfect locomotive that can run but has nowhere to run it’s stupid
Dynamo Productions could you do Steam Trains but this time with those in Canada, China, the UK, Ireland, Switzerland (My home), Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Cuba please?
We'd love to, but that'd be a very expensive video to produce, as none of our members or contributors live in any of those countries. All of our footage is taken by us, so we don't do compilation videos with footage we take from others online.
The engine was bought new by the Boone & scenic Valley from the factory and shipped to the US, as they found it was cheaper to buy a new JS than to restore most any American made steam locomotive they could have obtained. It fits the American standard gauge because the American standard gauge is the same as the Chinese standard gauge.
