I love this movie it is my favorite movie since I love logging railroads and locomotives. What whistles have #11 had in her lifetime

Shay 11 was built with a Lima 5 Chime, which it kept while running for Pickering and Klamath & Hoppow Valley. In 1994 it was restored by MRSR and was given a Powell 3 Chime. In 2000, it wore some sort of step-top 3 Chime (later used on the Heisler) and kept it until retirement in 2003. Hope that helps! :)

@@dylanjames554 thanks a lot I was going to do a history of 11 sometime and I needed to know which whistles she had in her lifetime. 11 is my favorite Shay locomotive which is my favorite steam locomotive. I’ve seen her twice in person! Thanks again!

@@brendanstrains9725 Glad to help! No it didn’t run after 2003. I think it’s FRA boiler time expired.

@@dylanjames554 ah I see I’ve seen it in a display building a couple times and I think it was supposed to be restored but it was put on the back burner.

The Mount Rainier Steam Railroad was the first railroad I’ve been too. I remember seeing Engine #17 when I was younger and I was able to go in the cab and check out the controls. Engine #15 was the first steam locomotive I’ve seen in seven years. Both railroads were an amazing experience and seeing those two together at 39:20 made my day. Great Film👍🏾

It’s very interesting to know that the Skookum began her restoration at Mount Rainier as it right now she is in operation and is visiting the Niles Canyon Railroad in Sunol California

Skookum was stored in pieces for several years at Mt. Rainier, however we didnt do very much in the way of restoring her. It was after it was moved to the Oregon Coast Railroad that funding became available to do the work.

I was honored to volunteer for many years with the Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad. Many of the people on this video are now gone. And sorely missed. I felt privileged to have been able to know. To work with, and to learn from them. I was the engineer on the Heisler #91 in this video. She was a sweet engine to run.
