After a couple of years out of use it was discovered the inlet pipe on the winch used by Shropshire Mines Trust's mobile crushing display had grown a crack. A temporary repair saw it run at the 2022 Shrewsbury Steam Rally, then afterwards there was more time for a permanent repair and attention.

When you put that chisel behind the packing follower and tapped it with a hammer I cringed a bit. I broke the outer end off one once, the casting was old but still in use.

I suspect there would have been a few choice words if it had broken! As you can see, it's not possible to get behind the flange at the top/bottom where it's closer to the body, so just went careful with the wedging action. This time got away with it 🙂
