Honestly that would have made sense for an early Simpsons episode considering the show was supposed to be a parody of 80s sitcoms where everything in these show is always perfect
The goal was for Skinner to suck up to Chalmers. He always tries to suck up to him throughout the series, and always fails. It always leads to him completely embarrassing himself or to some last-gasp restoration of the status quo of their massively imbalanced relationship.
I think this was in the start of his career and Skinner did the dinner to impress Chalmers and prove he's a suitable employee. I believe Chalmers regret this day
In all my years of consuming Steamed Hams memes, I never thought the awkward exchange of just “Hamburgers.” “Uh huh.” would make me laugh till my sides hurt, and yet here we are. God I love this Steamed Hams revival!
Chalmers requesting to see Skinner's kitchen purely because there was no other lead into any interesting topic and being flatout refused in the most sheer _mind-blank_ reaction I've ever seen, and then being wordlessly astonished for a long moment before just saying 'I see...' absolutely took the WIND out of me. It was like a severe gut-punch, and I'm not sure I'll recover. Thank you for subjecting me to this.
@@thejynxedlynx5570 he's not entitled to see Skinner's kitchen! if my kitchen wasn't in the entrance to my home I wouldn't want strangers in there either.
Chalmers not only just glancing at his watch as if he has something to do after lunch, but actually staring at it right in front of skinner had me in stitches. So rude lol. I almost felt bad for Skinner, in between laughing fits that is.
The muffled "my Unforgettable Luncheon is ruined" is Sending me , Skinner being upset about it not going well but just sitting there sputtering and doing nothing to fix it is killing me
When you remove the original context (Skinner's mom screaming for help), I just find it really funny how, for no apparent reason, Chalmers just jerks his head around to stare intensely at Skinner.
Skinners random "uhhhhhh" while chalmers eats a burger in silence made me laugh so hard I had to pause the video! LMAO great work. Definitely felt the awkwardness
You know, there's nothing wrong with just eating in silence and enjoying eachother's company without feeling the need to make small talk, but this is something else.
The best part for me was: *Waiting...* "Hamburgers!" "Uh-huh..." *Eating during awkward silence* Poor Seymour, he was so proud of the hamburgers that he defenitely didn't buy from Krustyburger.
I actually have no clue how to accurately put to words how much I love that ending, but holy shit it is perfect. Just the blank-faced thumbs up after the whole awkward moment.
The clock in the background is so comforting for me. My grandmother had a collection of over 800 clocks and I would visit her several times a week as a kid. ❤
This is EXACTLY what it felt like eating at my late grandmother's place back when I was a child and terribly bored all the time. She made good pancakes and I loved her to bits but the entire house was just cool grandma furniture and a big clock, no people no music no fun.
