Ride along the Strasburg Railroad in a beautiful winter landscape of ice and snow. Watch 0-6-0 #31 bounce up and down the tracks as she hauls her passengers through the white-covered farmland of Strasburg, Pennsylvania.
Easy access to an Amtrak mainline, a short level run whose view isn't obscured by trees the whole trip, Amish countryside, RR Museum across the street, an easy drive from Philly / Wilmington urban jungle.... They've got a really sweet setup that's the envy of every tourist railroad in the country. Gotta love Strasburg RR. Thanks for posting the vid, very well done.
Nope! I captured it right from ground level, no scanner next to me... The only radio was in the cab... I was surprised myself as to how well it picked up.
Excellent video! One question - In the beginning you can clearly hear the radio transmissions - which I've never caught on tape - Did you have a scanner next to your camera or was it actually that loud from the cab of the engine?
No it's not... the engine in the video is not strasburg 90, it's #31... Regardless of the "7312" on the numberplate.. haha, only kidding John. Incase anyone didn't know, the reason that is so is because of a "break in" and where 2 guys stole #31's numberplate, so they gave 31 her old Canadian plate that read 7312...
