Have you ever tried the hammer on style paint that gives the tecture of hammered metal to the spray? I've used it a few times and once its ink washed and highlighted usually turns out fairly well
Im in the process of making my first venetian steam punk mask. After going over both videos(March 9th and this one) you have inspired me to do so though. I am stuck on a few things like: 1. The strap that came with the mask is not sturdy enough to hold it up after what will be done. The weight will require something more tangible. Do you have any suggestions on what can be used. Please, understand that I am on a strict budget and need to have this mask done by the 4th of June. 2. The eye lens you used for this mask. Where might I find that and what is it called?
You could try some stronger elastic which you should be able to get from a sewing shop. Or if there is only one strap add a second one that links from the top of the mask which you can then tie or sew to the existing strap. You could just glue this to the inside of the mask at the top so you don't damage what you have already done.
I really wish he would list the types of paint he was using so we could go out and buy them. I don't really know paints like that because I'm just getting in to fabrication if you could please list the paints that would be epic of you
Great work. What brand do you use? Krylon? It probably doesn't matter, but Iv'e heard mixed results on a lot of paints. I really love the eyepiece though. Its just subtle enough to make it steampunkish.
