hold a controller in your hand the controller will give you the feel of using htc vive controllers

Most Bluetooth controllers such as the one that comes natively with a GearVR v2 or Oculus Go or even an old Wiimote wouldn't have the same level of tracking that Leap Motion provides. Combined however you have a powerful combo of hand/finger tracking AND if your controller is small and hangs on a wrist strap you could grab it and use it for ease of control/buttons.

What file is he moving in to the steamvr/ openvr folder? the one i have says Leap motion not just Leap? did i do something wrong??

I did everything stated in the video yet it will not show up in Steam as controllers. Any advice? Also do I dump the folder called "driver_leap-master" in the leap folder or the contents of the "driver_leap-master folder, thanks.

I haven't tried using this with tilt brush yet, but I read that it works. As usual, because the game was designed with a controller in mind, the results are very sporadic. Apparently, it's very tough to draw anything.

I know there's a way to make it work with PS Move, but I haven't tried it myself (looks complicated), but I don't know about Kinect.

does it still work? i installed latest Orion beta (3.2.0), leap motion steamvr driver alpha 8 from cbuchner and i followed your tutorial (and many other on the internet) but steam doesn't see the leap motion as controllers. any solution? thank you

Last I tried it was about 2 months ago. It still worked then. I'll check it out at my earliest opportunity to see if it still works. The trouble is that the drivers are 3rd party and haven't been updated in years, so issues are very likely.

i tried to use the leap motion sensor on my android device using google carboard . The only problem is while using the unity remote 5 it's a bit sloe on transmitting the data unto my device

It could be because the input is routed through Unity Engine first.

Have you try tilt brush? Interesting if it will work with that title.

The controllers should work, but limiting factor would be moving around the game. Since there's no tracking, it'll be a very limiting experience to play tilt brush with VRidge & leap motion. But if you've got a rift or vive, it's an interesting concept and I will try it as soon as I get a headset.

It should work with Gear VR (Oculus) so you can use Vrige and play rift games. Games that lets players use hands in game and see them as hands.

Can you do this without riftcat? I have an iPhone so I can't get it. I want to do this but am unable to. Is there a way for me to get it off the internet for my iPhone.

Oh I did... best VR experience I've had so far! I will be making a video about it. Haven't filmed it yet, but should be done in 1-2 weeks :D. Never had more fun playing with blocks.

Does it work on all games which supports Oculus Rift? For example GTAV?

Unfortunately, no. It worked with all SteamVR games I played so far (sometimes well, sometimes not so well), but unless the game is designed to be used with VR controllers, leap motion won't work.

my folder is called "steam vr" not "open vr" ive been trying to get this working for weeks but idk what to do.

Weird... My OpenVR folder is located at the following path: Steam\SteamApps\Common\OpenVR I didn't find a "steam VR" folder anywhere on my system. Do you have Rift or Vive? Maybe that created a different folder

no i have never owned a rift or vive. I wonder if this is why im having trouble running games, maybe i could create that path myself and see.

Have you installed steam vr program itself? It's like a stand-alone app in steam through which you can play vr games.

yeah ive downloaded the steam vr program from within steam, also the drivers. but i am also having trouble getting native riftcat games to run as well, so it might not be a fault with my steam directory, all i get on native riftcat games is "awaiting vr stream"

I get to the vr room setup, it detects my headset and controllers but i dont have tracking stations so those are blank, i always get error code (400) "compositor is not available"

Orion is pretty good. I really like the demo that came with it. It hasn't really been implemented into steamVR yet.

Lol really? So steamVR "leap drivers" are still based on old firmware or smth? I've tried Driver4VR for Leap Motion but it wasn't really that accurate as I've thought :/ Also I've heard that this driver from cbuchner isn't working anymore but idk if its true or not coz I didn't tried it yet.

Leap Motion is the controller. It's using an infrared camera to detect your hands and simulate the gestures in VR. Sadly it has limited usability at this time, but when it works, it works really well.

I think that may be too many incompatible things together. Likely possible with leap motion, but not sure why use kinect.

Reload, Leap Motion only does hand tracking, and the game needs head tracking.

I haven't tested dual control setup. I think it should be possible provided the game accepts input.

It still works a year later. It's not as good as having dedicated controllers, but rather cool to control games with just your hands.

+Kr Lol VRidge app works on most android phones (have to make sure it can do vr). Leap Motion is independent, it works on PC. But few games are compatible with it at this point.

I'm waiting for Google Daydream to come out. Details are a bit murky at this stage, but looks to shake things up a bit for mobile VR and VR controllers in general.

Oh yes, not a consumer plug-and-play product. Very Minmatar :D. But inside scoop: there's a simple game that works so well with this, it's insane how much fun it can be. That's what my next VR video will be about. :D

Currently, I would say it's impossible. Oculus Go is a self-contained unit. You'd need a way to interface Leap Motion with the headset. It may be possible if there's a way to connect the two.

+Jordan Laidlaw leap motion works with every headset on the market on the moment. The compatibility comes from the game itself though. The SteamVR compatibility is not official at this time, more of a hack.
