This was my father's favorite song for years, and after he passed, I stopped listening to it for several years out of grief. I recently got myself to listen to it again and suddenly realized that he'd never had the vinyl for it despite him having collected several of his favorite music when he was alive. So, I finally got a copy in his honor to enjoy all over again just like I know he would still be enjoying to this day.
I just lost it when I read this, Alice! I'm an "adult orphan" myself - lost both parents in my early forties. Your pop would want you to keep playing this, I'm quite certain of it. ❤
I Followed the daughter of the guitarist on social media. She was so fun and interesting . I told her how much I loved her dad's music. The creative work of geniuses like him give so much joy to the life of ordinary people like me
It also used to be on Apple Music (had it on my playlist of 80's deep cuts since late-2019). However it was removed some time in the last couple years.
I was 18 years old then and the drinking age was still 18 then too!! I was in high school (as a senior) at the time and it was weird, go to school all day, go legally drinking at night, it really wasn't a big deal like it is today!!
I first heard this on a K-Tel compilation LP from 1982. Never gets old. I always make sure to crank up the first bar of synthesizer at the beginning! 😄
I still listen You Don't Want Me Anymore by Still Breeze in the middle of January of 1983. Entered the Top 40 on November 6, 1982 and peaked at number 16, and stayed on the Top 40 charts to January 15, 1983 for 11 weeks, while Men At Work's Down Under entered the Top 40 on November 27, 1982, and reached at number 1 for 4 out of 5 weeks. On January 22, 1983, You Don't Want Me Anymore by Steel Breeze dropped out of the American's Top 40 countdown with Casey Kasem was hosting the show.
This song came out when I was in the 8th grade. Steel Breeze came from the same area that I grew up in ,in No. California. All the cool kids had Steel Breeze T-shirts.
Same here, jr high in Fremont, CA. Many years later Steel Breeze was playing pool parties at the Sands - Reno, and at the microbrewery at Silver Legacy. good for them, great song.
This the song that I have been looking for since I was a teen! I remember this song on the radio, and finding it was hard! Thank you for posting it! After 17 years, I finally found it!!!
Don't you hate that when you hear a song then can't find it anywhere??? I once heard the live version of Deep Purple's song Lazy.............and looked for a copy of it for about ten years! Finally stumbled across the Deep Purple album Made In Japan in an old music store three counties over from where I lived, and bought the album immediately! And this was back in 1981, which about two years later they re- released the full album on CD which I bought too!! I still have never found the full album of the band Trooper, that did a popular radio song in my area named "Raise A Little Hell"!! Of course when Steel Breeze first released this song, you could still buy small 45 rpm singles on vinyl.....and I had a copy of this on 45 ever since it came out!! For me that was one song that was stupid simple to find and buy! Buy you have to know too I have been a huge music fan since I was 12 years old....and that was back in 1976!!!
I've never gone w/billboards lists, differences in geographical areas are going to excessive from one point to another especially Ca. where they just go by what in their opinion is it, but when you actually listen to what you like and all of a sudden it happens to be unanimously with more folks, again geographical ly . Love this track!
@@davidatwell1421 Why do you hate California so much? I don't like Texas either, but I don't bash it in every different topic I can find, California is home to a lot 80's stars and groups, and they are here for a reason, they are at the right place. 💙😉
I am seeing "Edge Of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks as song number 100 in the BILLBOARD entertainment magazine year-end issue of the biggest Hot 100 charting songs of 1982. Indeed, it spent two weeks in a row in its top position at number 16 in November of 1982.
This is why I have to have Sirius/XM satellite radio in my vehicle. You don't hear hits like this on over the air radio stations. Sure there is a few that can play them. I don't know if I'm the only one who takes offence that the local oldies stations are who is playing these songs from our youth. Now being 40 something just don't feel old enough that the music we loved at another time in our life should be classified as oldies lol. 80's on 8 is the #1 spot on my car radios and Sirius/XM is the first bookmark in my web browser. Had the get the package with web streaming.
I agree, the corporate best hope I keep missing the lottery, cause I will blow them out of the face of the earth! FUCK CORPORATE AMERICA! ! that's why I' m voting against Crooked hillary , the liberal democrats agenda of wanting to become a leader of "A New World Order" they are so commided to this outrageous power, look at their record to date.. Fuck them! !
The coolest thing is I was only 17 when I First heard this song so Young right and even tho I'm from a Young Generation I will Always listen to this Awesome Kick-ass song for the rest days of my Life Til I'm 100
After watching WITCHBOARD, and hearing them with the theme; had to listen to this again! I've had the album for almost 40 years. How does it sound fresher than modern music?
Man, you"re old haha but the age group I hung with then. I was only 12 then and the Mrs was 16. We had some pretty good music back then. The sound from our vinyl albums, the hiss from the cassettes and 8tracks.Good music is just that good music. No matter how old our ears were back then.
Lead Singer Late Rick Jacobs and I met in early 2000s and put a band together called the Pranksters in the NW Subs outside of Chgo. We became great friends for years and he shared so much of Steel Breeze Experience w me. Very sad his untimely death. I still miss him . R.I.P. Rick Jacobs Scott Jensen
Ah, brings back memories of hitting I-40 with a 4x4 pickup, heading to the range with 5k rounds of 5,56mm, and 3 AR rifles (no they are not "assault rifles") Such a stupid name. People who use this phrase are stupid. AR refers to the original manufacturer, Armilite Rifles, of California. I digress. I am a free American going to shoot my rifle, as long as I want. God Bless the United Sates of America!!!!!!!! I love Canada and the UK. Stand firm lads!!!
