Drums and guitar at the same time, if he got one of those harmonica around the neck things he could start a one man band! Ditch the others and make a killing on the London Underground busking!
This guy taught me how to alternate pick properly! Musicians Institute: not only a great player and showman but an amazing teacher and a very humble guy.
@Confi Dential He helped so many students at MI. I never missed his weekly open counselling session where you got to jam with him. He was only 18 or 19 when he was teaching there: even then, a phenomenal player.
@Darthrott Guitar I have no idea why you’d think he would fake any of his playing, Russ Parrish is an amazing guitarist and was an instructor at GIT in l.a!
@@necromorphxbrute I just told you why I thought he was. I forgot there was delay on that and the hands weren't matching the actions. But I understand why now and it's cool
I’m not a Steel Panther fan, but that was fucking amazing! He managed to be showy and entertaining while still having a ton of substance. Wigs off to you, sir 🤘🏻
Thing about this guy a non-guitar player may not catch. He not only understand what he is doing. He is mimicking the sound exactly. The sound and timing is so spot on, if you close your eyes you can't even tell the difference. That is more than extraordinary. Especially when you can reproduce so many different sounds and styles.
That little lick at the 22 second mark is so powerful for such a simple lick. Over the years my playing has become so complex and advanced but hearing him made me realize I need to go back to licks I haven't used in awhile, their much more tasty and ear friendly. I got hung up trying to impress other musicians over the average person that doesn't play anything.
When Russ Parrish was teaching at GIT, he said there was no point in trying to be the best because nobody can play better than Paul Gilbert. But he’s pretty fucking close if you ask me.
@@teobuzzo779 listen to him play from when he lived with Paul Gilbert. His chops were insane back then. He's still extremely good but you can tell he was in close proximity to Paul from his playing back then.
@@patton303 i mean no disrepect he is clearly an high level mechanic player when playing other Peoples stuff ( you can say from his Malmsteen chops that are pretty much spot on played) but his own material? Really not on the league of Gilbert, Malmsteen, Van Halen or other guitar gods. damn he was basically a cover band guitar player and you can say, this Is basically a heavy metal medley. He is clearly on a lower league on the verve of his personal style. He's not a garbage player overall but clearly the amount of sauce he puts in this by Himself is so low. Steel panther is a joke band and all, i get it, they are actually good at playing and all. But this gimmick is to avoid putting themselves and their personality in their music, shielding themselves behind the mighty 80's for their lack of own songwriting skills.
No matter how great he's playing, the fans go most crazy when he puts his hand up in the air. I guess that's why he's on stage and THEY are paying to sit in a chair.
Watched a vid recently of satchel at a guitar shop before a show being a nice guy and doing a clinic. He stepped out of character a few times and I enjoyed those parts but the peaople in the room were, like. Omg he handled it like a pro.
Rock you like a hurricane, breaking the law, master of the puppets, crazy train, sweet child o mine, iron man, do ray me. That's what I got, pretty sure there's one or two more.
This model is made in Mexico !!! But is made really well w great standards! Thats y is at 1200$ or so!! Sounds very full nd bright as well ! Sweet axe ! Nd Satch puts it down well
If I remember right, the guitars Charvel gave him are USA made w/ original Floyds. And then the mass produced ones that you see for around 1200 bucks or so are MIM w/ Floyd 1000's. I think I remember seeing something about that when they first introduced these.
What in the fucking hell is he doing at 1:42 ??? Unbelievable technique... look I'm a pretty competent guitar player... like I can get on a stage and really go for it... but this guy is just unreal. I don't even know what he is doing and that really inspires me to figure it out
Lol. Just a 100% slap delay timed out to repeat whatever note he just played. If he simply plays well-timed 1/8th notes, the delay makes it sound like he’s playing 16th notes.
