The steel dive 1970 is one of the best homages to the Seiko 6105 aka the Captain Willard. The sd1970 is loaded with great specifications and the build is executed well, and for the asking price of under $70 on AliExpress, this is a great purchase. Links to the watch and strap are below. I have had 20 or 30 of these. I buy them from AE on sale, wear them, flip them, rinse and repeat. Have one incoming right now from latest AE sale. I paid $63 Canadian ($50ish USD) will sell for $125 CAD. These are tough, well built, finished mostly ok for the price. The tight bezels on these I fix using Sunlight dish washing detergent and warm water. MAKE SURE CROWN IS SCREWED IN. Drip the dish soap into the bezel/watch head area and turn using a dish cloth (slippery). Turn unil it is well lubricated and moving better, then place face down in warm water...not hot, but nice and warm. 30 mins later, rinse well. Cheers!!!

Thanks for the idea on loosening the bezel. Yeah I found that steeldives, especially the sd1970 are pretty reliable and nice looking! Steeldive really hit the jackpot with the sd1970. Thanks for watching!

Mine arrived yesterday. Black on the large hole rubber strap. Extraordinary value at £42($53) inc taxes! It does feel heavy on the wrist, but it's meant to be tough, right? I love it.

It is a pretty tough watch. I've put mine through some tough times. Camping, hiking, repairing pool equipment. It's been banged around and it just keeps on going! Glad you enjoy your Steeldive! Thanks for watching!

I've had mine for a week. So far, it's quite heavy (170 g), but very well made. The lume is superb. Easily still visible after 8 hours of darkness. Much better than my Invicta Pro Diver. The bracelet is huge. I needed to remove 4 links to get it to fit (The shipper did include a link adjustment tool). The bezel moves well and is also well aligned. The NH35 movement gains 2 sec per day on rainy days if I hardly move, 10 sec per day if I walk a few miles. I'll need to regulate it, but this is pretty much on a par with other NH 35s I've seen. Overall, excellent bang for your buck.

The bezel is tight on mine also. I tried lube, a little bit better.

Steeldive is probably my favorite homage watch maker. Sure, San Martin is slightly better, but the prices they charge are insane. I've had the SD1970 in my cart for over a year. I've seen some ridiculously low prices on it. But I can't seem to pull the trigger on it because, quite frankly, I'm not sure I'd wear it. It would be a fun addition to my homage collection, but that's about it. Love the review, though. Keep it up!

I do understand however the whole it would just sit in a watch box . I have a chronograph that does that now. Appreciate your comment. Thanks again.

I've had mine for over a year now, a great watch for the price. My only complaints were the two supplied straps. The steel bracelet was honestly, crap! The rubber one not to bad but, I've swapped it out for another after market rubber one.

Thanks for watching! Yes I agree the bracelet could be better, but like you I have found the rubber strap to be a much better replacement and I feel it adds a more dive watch look to it. I picked up my after market strap from Strap Habit. Great FKM rubber strap for sure! The Steeldive is such a solid watch that is a really great value. I really appreciate your comment.

But you do know they revised and changed the bracelet in recent versions right? Out of curiosity: yours is the one with 5 micro adjustments and milled clasp?

Love the watch but it loses a lot of time compared to my other Steel dive watch. The Bezel is very tight with no back play.

Instead of the captain Willard played by Martin Sheen we should call this watch the Charlie Sheen it kind of looks like it but it's not quite the same and it's not quite as old🤣 or we can call it the Chris Taylor as it was Charlie Sheen's character's name in platoon

I love the references! Maybe they can come up with one for Emilio Estevez. It's a pretty good homage to be honest and the darnn thing is built like a tank. Lune is much better than other watches. Thanks for watching.
