The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Justin Fields for his potential, but did he struggle at minicamp? Reports differed, but at the center of them was Mark Kaboly of the Athletic. I thought the reports were BS because just a few weeks earlier the reports were about how impressive he had been. How strong and lively his arm was. Justin just needs to keep his head down and keep grinding. I don’t expect him to see the field this year unless it’s in certain situations and packages. However, everyone isn’t sold on Russ. I am, but if I am incorrect Justin could see the field this year.

Thank you for clarifying. I've read some of the national news articles where they have spun Kaboly's words to say Fields is a lost cause. And I was very mad at Kaboly because I thought Pittsburgh was going to be patient with Fields and give him a season to develop and get his confidence back (he's only 25, same age as Pickett). Thank you for setting the record straight. Still very excited about Russell Wilson too.

There are some in the media who hate Justin Fields for whatever reason excluding Mark. His analysis is spot on. They were after him in Chicago and they are active in Pittsburgh now. They disregard every thing what Bears did to him and how well he performed under those circumstances.

How do you beat a team with a high octane offense? Run the ball + win turnover battle + win time of possession by wide margin + good defense = a win Is it sexy? No, but it's a proven formula to win against the teams that want to pressure you into a scoring race. If you resist falling into that trap, and use the formula, it also flips the pressure onto them making them one dementional increasing the effectiveness of you own defense against them in the 2nd half as they hear the clock tick louder and louder. This is basic football strategy that gets forgotten when you have a bunch of QBs and WRs that only care about stats for their next contract negotiations.

LOL Denver had no stomach for Russel Wilson. The guy can’t or won’t learn a playbook and it aggravates coaches and recievers. This is why Seattle let him leave town and also why Denver ate that massive contract to get rid of him. Russ is a great athlete, but his success will depend on how tolerant and flexible the Steelers are with the “let Russ cook” hero ball. Tomlin loves Fields and they’ve only got him this year, so the Steelers will absolutely look at Fields in season with the first team.

The Steelers didn't "sign Russell Wilson first & then Fields, so Fields could sit and learn..." * The Steelers - like every QB needy team - signed the best available QB before the pool dried up. * The Bears GM didn't make Justin Fields available until AFTER every QB needy NFC team went with their plan B - because Fields wasn't available. * If Justin Fields had been available the Steelers wouldn't have signed Russell Wilson. 2. If Justin Fields hits Free Agency, NFC teams that faced him twice a year will be bidding for his services as their franchise QB. * To include teams that recently signed Quarterbacks because JUSTIN FIELDS WASN'T MADE AVAILABLE UNTIL AFTER NFC teams scrambled to acquire QBs because Justin Fields wasn't available.

I get a bit cynical and worried when I hear people defending quarterbacks with accuracy problems. Accuracy is paramount for quarterbacks. How long do we wait for someone to correct accuracy? I am not sure this is possible. I see these guys improving a bit but then when put under pressure in critical times of a game, they throw the picks.

Aiyuk was on the phone with daniels who was his old teammate. Washington has the money and the draft picks to make a move. It makes a ton of sense for aiyuk to go there and then we could potentially get mcclaurin for the cheap. Dudes been a 1k a year guy no bs with bum QBs and a coaching revolving door. Love you both. But the idea that the Steelers want to do the same thing as say the niners or eagles… running game, tranches, good defense. Yea sure that’s true. But a key part of tomlins game plan is keeping it close till the end, be conservative, don’t turn the ball over whatever you do. Someone tell me the last time a team has made a run with a strategy like that? Keep it close till the end then make a play to win it is a great way to raise your teams floor and lower the ceiling. Exactly how Tomlin teams operate. Hopefully that changes but I’m sure we’ll still see things like rookies who are clearly better than the starter not playing for half the season (looking at you Dan Moore)

Not to mention when yall are praising Russ stats last year, they don’t tell the whole story. He goes right in line with tomlins bad plan of make no mistakes and be painfully restrictively conservative. Several instance last year of Payton flipping out on the sideline and Denver media ripping Russ for clearly playing conservative to protect himself and his stats and not playing within the offense.

I don’t think that’s Tomlin’s “strategy” at all. The offense has just been bad so they haven’t been able to build leads. When the offense has been good, they’ve been happy to run up scores. Look at the second Bengals game this year. Or look at the killer B years. Most games in the NFL end up being close because of the level of competition. Tomlin doesn’t tell his team to lay off just because he wants it to be close. Neither does Russell play to do that.

What is Mark Kaboly Background in Sports? Has he ever played the Game of Football as an athlete himself? Does Coach Tomlin and Omar Kahn trust him with "secrets" about the Steelers that nobody else knows about? He acts like he knows exactly what the Steelers are going to do about EVERYTHING. Mr. Kaboly says Justin Fields was "inconsistent" with his throws. Does he even realize that this was only minicamp and the Quarterbacks and Players are learning and practicing drills. Mr. Kaboly's big "LOUD MOUTH" started all this talk about how bad Justin was at camp. Mr. Kaboly is nothing more than a "Closeted Justin Fields Hater." Now the National-Media has picked up on it and it's an hour-by-hour story. It's so unfair to Justin and I wish Mr. Kaboly would ACTUALLY sit down and watch some of Justin Fields Games, starting at Ohio State and the Chicago Bears because he knows absolutely nothing about this young man. Let's check the box score from last season's Broncos Vs Bears. Justin was the better QB he went for 28/35. 335 yards 3 TD. DJ More went for 8 catches 131 yards 1 TD. Kole Kamet 7 catches 85 yards 2 TD. If it wasn't for this bad Bears team he would have won the game. Russell 21/28 223 3 TD. Now who was the better QB on that day.

Yes, Fields is a work in progress, but no, we didn’t all know that coming in. There were idiots assuming he would start over Russ. I tried to tell as many of them as I could that they sounded dumb, but they wouldn’t listen. Russ is not only too good to be unseated by Fields, it’s doubtful that any QB could beat him out right now. That dude is on a mission, and Arthur Smith is another Darrell Bevell, so Russ is very familiar with that system. It’s rudimentary for him. He knows how to run it expertly. Mahomes struggled to do it last year, learning it just in time to lead his team on a SB run.

Chicago has always ruined their quarterbacks. Chicago has been a real shit show for a couple decades. also, Justin had no offensive support around him nor in the coaching. He will start before year end. Also, consistent accuracy comes from playing with the new receivers over and over again. He was trained by Ryan Day at Ohio State, you don't throw 6 touchdown passes in National Semi Championship game against a good Clemson Team and throw 6 touchdown passes in that game and not be accurate. Duh. I would say to you so called sports pod casters, stop looking for controversy to get clicks.

There's literally no way to double GP AND bring an eighth defender into the box 😂 Where does that extra defender come from? THE SECONDARY. So if you're using another defender to double George, you'd have to use the free safety in the box to do both at the same time (which would leave an humongous hole in the roof of the defense) 😂😂😂 Mark stop creating fake scenarios lmao if we run the ball well enough, that 8th defender WILL NOT be able to double GP at all. You're only allow 11 players total lmaoo Mark has to learn football man
