Pretty much the situation for sure. But...it was still a challenge and we learned a lot on fishing pressured fish!

What size bobber and in line weight?
@DayOneOutdoors
@DayOneOutdoors 7 месяцев назад
Typically we use a 1/4oz to a 1/2oz bobber and adjust the inline weight based on the size of the jig! For example, a half ounce bobber would be a 1/4oz jig and a 1/4oz inline weight!

Can you please do a video of the knot to keep jigs horizontally ?
@DayOneOutdoors
@DayOneOutdoors Год назад
Hey! The onot is actually fairly simple! It is just a slip knot! Put the line through the eye, double up the tag end and then wrap the tag end through the loop around the mainline 7 times. Pull the tag end to close the loop, then wet the knot and pull on the mainline until the knot comes tight and cinches onto the jig! Hope that helps but I'll see if I can do a quick video on it as well!

Great fishing video, would just like to see you handle the wild fish a little better to prevent mortally rates. Cheers…
@DayOneOutdoors
@DayOneOutdoors Год назад
Thanks for the support! Between the 2 fishing guides and a hatchery manager, we absolutely respect and are highly conscious of making sure we take care of every fish we handle! Was there a moment of concern? Idaho has done some fantastic studies on wild fish that show mortality comes from where a fish is hooked and preventing blunt trauma while out of the water. Mortality is rarely attributed to catch and release, being held out of water, being handled in nets or even barbs. Always productive having the conversation as we are all on the same side trying to make sure these fish are well taken care of to ensure future fisheries!

Why wouldn't you slip back an out in the river to cast twords the bank for better angle?
@DayOneOutdoors
@DayOneOutdoors Год назад
We definitely did a few times! This was such new water for us the first day, that we tried it all to be able to learn more for the next day! Side drifting didn't get us a single fish this trip!

Just curious how did those fish cut ?🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@DayOneOutdoors
@DayOneOutdoors Год назад
These being summer steelhead and, maybe because of the distance they need to travel, they cut quite well!

@outcastfishingtv
@outcastfishingtv Год назад
@@DayOneOutdoors skamania steelhead . They run in the summer and spawn late winter early spring. Usually long and skinny like that. If caught in summer , very acrobatic ! Hardest fighting strain in my opinion .
@morgankruse4666

Maybe he means Skamania strain?
@lucasholmgren7266
@lucasholmgren7266 Год назад
They are summer steelhead, which is what the Great Lakes calls Summer Steelhead, but not the exact same strain as the Skamania steelhead that come from Washougal, Klickitat rivers.
