I forgot to mention, you can Disable the 7.1 surround sound for slightly better audio, but since that's a major selling point it doesn't alter my concluded opinion.

I've had these headsets for 3 years now. They are still solid headphones. Although, I had only one minor issue which is the occasional lag spike. But, there was an update early last year on these headphones and ever since then, I have not had the mic spike issue. For anyone looking for good headphones, these are really good. Even after all of these years the battery life lasts about a week and a half for me based off how long I play each day.

I have a Arctis 7 Wireless and its really comfortable to have on and the microphone is good but not the best tho, *BUT* if you play games and focus more on gaming then i recommend buying this headset *Like so people see*

I am thinking about getting the arctis 7 wireless, turning off the 7.1 surround, and just using my blue snowball ice for my youtube videos and streams, I would really only use the mic for speaking to friends which isnt too big of a deal... that was one of the only things he mentioned in the video, the microphone quality, which is not why I want to get this headset. Do you like your arctis 7?

@@rustyghost3141 that is so good to hear... My last headset would begin to seriously strain my head after only 2 hours, and sometimes I stream for upwards of 5 hours! The person in this video seemed very biased against the arctis 7, but he didn't have much reason for his negativity toward this quite awesome headset! Thanks for your feedback and the subscription! :) You should be seeing me where this headset within a few weeks time! :D

Tbh these are actually really nice, the sound is absolutely not subpar, although sometimes the audio is unbalanced. They are absolutely the best headsets I have ever tried, and I have used both the 2018 and 19 versions of this.

Dude this headset is insane I'm in disagreement with you I think it's a very high quality headset with great audio. I would pay 200 for it. This is of course you're looking for a everyday gaming headset for pc.

It depends what you're looking for, if you want pure high quality sound, don't buy a gaming headset, get headphones from brands like sennheiser, audio technica, bose etc. If you want surround sound with a mic to talk to your friends, go for it.

@@leave_my_game2765 nothing blocks the sound of a brother screaming in the background, not even 400$ bose headset with active noise cancelling and excellent passive noise cancelling. But especially not those, the elastic band means that more weight is put on your head instead of clamping the sides, making the seal slightly less efficient. I wouldn't consider them in particular if a big chunk of what you're looking for is background noise cancellation

Since the 2019 refresh, should probably take this down or update it to avoid confusion about the sound quality for people looking to actually buy these. They're pretty great at this point

I still have the Arctis 7, and I've had them for over 3+ years now and they sound amazing. I did want to buy a brand new one so I can keep this specific headset with the settings I've made, people have been complimenting on how clear my mic sounds. I've come to notice that the steel series manufacturers stopped selling them completely in my region and now I can't continue using these when mine break. But you have to admit as long as you take care of your headset it will last for years like mine about to go on year 4!!

im using them for 2,5 years now and they are the best, battery life is so gooooood, wireless literally covers whole level and little bit of level below in my house, the quality of sound isnt the best but it aint bad either, and they are so comfy that i can wear them for like 12 hours straight and still dont experience any ear-hurt problems, gaming on them is also very good and i have never seen a lag with them, no connectivity issues, no problems at all, they are worth it for me

For people that complain about the sound quality. Make sure you change soumd input on your pc to Artics Game instead of Artics Chat. The chat gives a much flatter sound.

I've yet to hear another reviewer say the ear cups weren't comfortable, or that the audio quality wasn't great. It's widely considered one of the best headsets on the market...

WARNING: Do NOT force the USB plug into the port in the side of the headset. It WILL get pushed in and make it IMPOSSIBLE to recharge the headset. (This happened to me and now it's pretty much worthless)

Just a heads up, if you look on eBay you can find these basically brand new for $80 CAD. I bought them and they were brand new, just a bit of box damage. Great headset, nice quality, and comfortable I do enjoy them

I just got the 2019 edition, like 'em alot! Sound is good and mic is absolutely fine. Didn't need to do any special tuning at all. Friends liked the sound in TeamSpeak so no complaints there. Paid €80 as they were on sale. Don't notice any difference in sound or mic quality from my Razer Kraken USB. Very happy about the purchase, good range on them too, can be anywhere in my apartment with closed doors and still works fine. Wouldn't pay €150+ for them though, but that's not saying they wouldn't be worth it, just out of my price range. Really like that they have different channels for game and chat, so don't have to adjust in TeamSpeak or CS:GO, just scroll the wheel on the headset and adjust. Really pleased, was a bit sceptical seeing all the bad reviews but my guess is they've solved the problems with software updates. New model has thicker cushions and stuff, feels really nice. Been wearing them for three hours today and did not notice any discomfort at all. If you can get them as cheap as I did I recommend them!

If you do get it be careful taking it off and on. The build quality around the hinge connecting the right ear cup is absolutely horrendous and will break if you aren’t really carful. This is a problem I’ve seen many people have with this headset.

I was so sad when I had to return this headset. The build quality and comfort are top notch, but the sound is some of the worst of all headsets I've used. All the reviews online made the Arctis 7 seem like a no brainer, but when I heard the audio quality I was so confused. No bass, muddy sounds, and very low sound volume. I tried it with the equalizer Peace and the Razer surround sound software, but neither sounded as good as my previous G930 headset (which broke after I dropped it recently which is why I bought this.) In the end, I just got the G933. It's way more uncomfortable, but the sound quality is 5x better. I have no idea whats going on with all the rave reviews for this headset.

These headsets sound great. I upped the bass in the Steel Series software and it sounds fine. I don't have muddy sounds either and Ive watched many reviews that never mentioned them. You must have just gotten a bad pair or something.

I paid $110 for it and that is a really good price for a really good headphones. I don't what people complain about the sound quality, but for me is very good and has good basses. Compairing it with my old Thermaltake (which has a very good sound too) and find this one in a similar quality plus wireless feacture and for now they feel more comfortable.

Also at 4:54 wtf are you doing with that equaliser? You complain that they sound worse than ear buds, drop the biggest part of the audible bass range to 0 and rack up the high end frequencies? Then you turn compression all the way up to flatten the sound.

I displayed an example of the EQ being changed for visual purpose. It doesn't mean that's the setting I had them on. Also these were not tested with PC chat output. I don't like the sound for the price you pay. You can claim that it sounds amazing, but that doesn't alter my opinion. I don't like the sound quality, accept it and move on or continue to try and change an opinion that is already made up.

I believe your review. Had the Arctis 5 and immediately returned them because of their lack of soundstage, bass and overall rich sound. Got a pair of monoprice Retros with a Modmic instead and I’m super happy with them.

I'm on a PS4, they sounded good, but the surround sound is only for PC. That makes a huge difference in FPS games and immersion. My Sony Platinums were def. better on PS4.

I've owned this headset for a year. While comfort and sound quality is top notch, they don't make up for the inconsistent issues. I finally had to go buy another headset to use whenever the Arctis 7 decided it wasn't going to work that day. The power button is absolute garbage. Completely inconsistent on length of time to press to turn on and often leaves a loud tone in the headphones so you'll have to restart the headset. More recently I get random beeps and cutouts in the sound that even the reset button doesn't fix. My favorite pair of headphones when they are working but that isn't good enough. Currently using a Corsair Void Pro, not as comfortable even though they are lighter but the sound quality is on par.

I bought these a week ago, sound is really not that bad, but be aware, if your head is a little larger than average people, this will feel small (since i'm 1m88/74 inch, and it feels small). What i could say is that for a 200$ headset, they could make it more adjustable/comfy, and with a bit more options on the mic (ex: reduce ambient noise). Otherwise this is a good headset, maybe not worth this price.

I would suggest picking up the Arctis 3's for half the price if you are a fan or want to try this series. I have had the 3's for a few months now and they have been quite enjoyable for the price. Comfort level to me has been very well and can wear 3+ hours if gaming and that like mad. I will agree the sound is somewhat flat, and even with tweaking on PC or Xbox it could be better. But over all I would say 7.5 (maybe 8) / 10

The mic on the Arctis 7 is heavily compressed probably due to bandwidth limitations, it sounds fantastic with the sidetone because there is no need for compression internally, but as soon as it relays it to the PC the quality gets a lot worse.

I wish I saw this review BEFORE I bought them, god damn. Sending mine back. You're right about the sound. It's totally meh. I don't feel it's any better than my £50 headphones in terms of sound quality. It is, however, the most comfortable headset I've ever owned. That doesn't make it worth it.

Thanks for your honest and factual review on the SteelSeries Arctic's 7. I currently have a Razer Kraken 7.1 wired and looking for something that could match this headset but also be wireless and still get real 7.1 surround sound headset. My Razer Kraken has never failed me besides the earcups have wear and tear from using them for many years. But they have never broken and can wear them for hours without discomfort. 1 thing I would suggest for your videos is say the other headsets you would suggest over the Arctic's as you did when you suggested microphones you use. @4:37

Your microphone captures your voice so well. Also please help, what would be a good headphone recommendation for immersive sound quality preferably for gaming and movies at a budget under $100? (microphone and RGB not needed but please especially no RGB maybe something that looks similar to the SS Artic 7 a clean look)

I was on the fence about this headset. Everyone was saying bass this bass that. The bass and sound are actually really good!!! I’m hearing sounds I never knew existed before. I bought the arctis 5 for gaming and music. I must say you have to adjust the sound in the software and you MUST use it with usb if you want the AWESOME sound. Bass is a deal breaker for me on any headset if it’s not good the headset sucks. If you use it with the 3mm jack it will not sound good but it will be alright, very little bass. Oh and also buy better cushions so sound doesn’t escape. I use it on ps4 and Mac.

He also forgot to mention that the mic for some stupid reason always loads with the lowest frequency in Windows first time you boot it up. Set it to whatever your pc / windows can handle & the mic sounds just fine. Also the 2019 version Audio quality sounds amazing. Him comparing his 15$ earbuds to arctis7 was just nonsense. He either had a faulty Arctis 7 or doesn't have a clue of what he's talking about. :)

OK, here's my opinion. I've tried the Arctis 3, 3bt and 7, and every single one of them had software or hardware problems. The 3 came with a broken cable, the 3bt's Bluetooth wouldn't work simultaneously with the high quality sound (you had to switch over to sound that was absolutely horrible) and the 7 had a weird software bug where any time Discord made a sound the sound would start popping and crackling and I spent a week in finding a fix but never did. Now I'm using the HyperX Cloud 2 and they're really nice, work like a charm right from the plug-in. I will say that the sound I got from the Arctis 7 was nice, but the constant problems and discomfort in the earcups (the earcups are shallow and your ears will probably be touching the top) after about 1.5 hours of gaming were a deal breaker. And heck, I bought them on sale for 130 euros instead of 150

Only reason I bought the headset, was because it was on sale for 90 USD! Extremely satisfied, but I'm really curious to what a good non-gaming wired headset for 150$ sounds like...

In my opinion, If you are looking for a long term solution, these bad boys are great. You could pick up a hyperx cloud heaset for half the price and it'll probably do you for like a year and a half of general wear and tear. I'm a year into these bad boys though and for a semi serious gamer, they are great. My ONLY complaint (jd has a point about audio and mic but they suffice for me) is the foam that seperates your ear from the speakers leaves your ears sore if you play a LOT (which I do). 8.5/10

I'm glad I'm not the only one, as I felt like I was crazy to have this same opinion when I tried them in 2017. The 2019 version is better, but they are still uncomfortable because the earcups are like sandpaper after a while. Sound is better with the 7.1 this time around and stereo still sounds totally flat.

As someone who uses this headset without the mic it is great for sound. It comes with a software which is gsme changing. Most definitely worth the money.

if u want a good headset, and have 150 dollars to spend, get the massdrop 58xx jubilees. basically 500 dollar headphones with a tad more bass, and its only 150ohms so u dont exactly NEED an amp to run them, but it is usually ALWAYS reccomended

it is ass, it wont shut up when the battery is low and when i connect the charger the charger stops working and starts working again and agian and again so i am stuck in a loop where my headsett wont shut up and make noises all the time.

I don’t know why people always say this headset is trash I’ve had the headset for a short while but long enough to say it’s a pretty descent headset. Sound quality is good. it’s apparently not loud enough for my m8 but I find that if u know what ur listening for and not deaf than there more than loud enough. They are very flexible and mine did bend but I was able to easily bend them back also recommend a headset stand.

i just got these a week ago as my very first gaming headser and picked them up on sale for just under $100. i did a good deal of review surfing but was truly disappointed in the sound. none of the reviews i read said nothing about it, i wish i would have stumbled upon this review before purchasing. other than the sound and mic i find everything extremely good but would gladly trade the incredible battery life for more kick from the drivers. small trick for comfort; tuck your ears INSIDE the cups. it makes a big difference and i have used them this week hours at a time

Try dowload Peter's Equalizer like i did and follow some guide about the arctis 7 and you will get so much better sound! it made a big difference!

Patrik Kallur I use them on a console (ps4) so I think I’m stuck with the flat sound, unless I fork out another $100 for a different set. I actually was told by someone that uses them that the Sony gold(?) wireless headset had great sound

someone a few comments above spoke about how they were really happy the headset was 150aud in Australia, making it around 50$ cheaper than in the US. Maybe you should ask him lol, I think you're getting scammed if you pay 300$!

hi, i have some questions please help. 1,.connected to the ps4 pro and using psvr are they still wireless or do you have to use cable when using psvr? 2,.are they still surround sound with consoles or just on pc? 3.- i know they are not wireless for the xbox one x and you have to plug the cable to the controller but, do they keep the audio quality? thanks.

best headset/mic combo is superlux hd668b and a modmic or lavalier. maybe you could try this combo and compare it to more expensiver headphones. hd669b is $40 and modmic 5 is $50ish and lavalier 20ish

Respect. I have watched a lot of other youtubers, all have said that it is very good. So i bought it, and i have tried them on. after 1 minute, i noticed that the quality of my mobile earphones were a lot better. I thought, may be there is something wrong with my ears, all people are saying it's great. then i watched your review . Thank you. I can now return it before its too late :), Do you have any suggestions for me in the same price range with better audio quality ? it doesn't even have to be wireless.

Also I forgot to mention a workaround I came up with to get the dongle working on the phone. Set them up on PC the way you like then unplug the dongle and plug it into a power bank/battery pack/whatever way you have of giving the USB power and run an aux cord from your phone to the line in port on the dongle. If you did it right you can sync your headphones wirelessly like normal and play audio off your phone without the dongle being attached to your pc.
