The arctics 3 are the most comfortable headset I’ve ever had and they are on the cheap end. Just had brain surgery and they still feel comfortable, even for hours! These definitely look like those but more beautiful. Can’t wait to upgrade
I had the Arctis 9X and had a ton on interference and disconnections where it would drop audio or stutter audio every 5 seconds multiple times making them unusable while gaming. . I had them RMA and just got the 7x so far the only thing I miss is the +bluetooth feature. The 9X are amazing when they work and no connection issues. So far the 7x are amazing as well.
Thanks for going into detail about how to set up the headset and if the settings will save and carry over back to be Xbox from PC. Only review that actually simply answered that question for me. Also, I’m subbing in hopes for that video of the “best Xbox series x headset” because as of now, there’s not many to chose from! Very frustrating that this 7x is sold out :( thanks for a great straight-to-the-point and informative video!
Walmart site says they’re out of stock, but every one I’ve gone into (four) has had at least a couple of them. YMMV, but it may be worth checking out your nearest Walmart to see
just got mine today . ordered from steelseries website had then in 4-5 days max,i got them mostly for my series x.. dont know yet if i will use them on my pc fo rmusic or gaming...i think my senheiser gsp 500 connected to soundblaster are louder and sound better,i like the wireless though and they are very confortable
Great video very thorough thank you. I've recently got the 9x but after getting frustrated with constant connection drops with my Series X I'm in the process of getting them exchanged for the 7x and your video has helped reinforce my decision.
@@9to5toys I've done the update tonight after seeing people mention it in the comments. Fingers crossed when I get chance to test them out the issues will be fixed. If they are I think I'll keep them just purely for convenience of not having an adapter plugged into my xbox with the 7X.
@@9to5toys seems to have fixed the issue with it turning the xbox back on and losing connection with the controller. Just got to see if they randomly disconnect or have audio drops over the next few days now. So glad I came across your video and the news of the update before I returned them.
These are pretty good headphones, good sound quality. I used the Arctis 7 (not x) for about 2 years until the micro usb charger stopped working, as I forgot it was plugged in many times and got up, yanking on it. The two worst things about them are that they are VERY heavy and the earcups are not made for large ears. They totally crushed my ears and made them sore. I didn't realize how bad they felt until I switched to my Sennheisers. Every single thing is better about my Sennheiser's and they cost less.
This USB C dongle makes it inconvenient to switch from xbox to pc which I do often. You have to unplug the extension cable from xbox and plug it into the pc every time. You also need an additional usb port for charging the headset. There's only 3 ports on an Xbox so you'd have to find another source for charging unless unplugging and plugging in cables repeatedly doesn't bother you.
Why does mine sound trash compared to my cheap hyper x cloud stinger? Do wireless headsets just sound worse, or am I just missing something to make my arctis 7x sound better?
I got one of these for my PS5, Series X and Switch. It works great on all three! I’m going to order an extra dongle once they’re back in stock to keep on behind my XSX and the other I keep on the front of my PS5 in the USB-C port and pop it off if I want to use it with my Switch. I’ll keep them in their respective modes and hopefully won’t have interference since my PS5 and Switch are upstairs and my XSX is downstairs. It’s so nice to finally have something that just works with all my consoles, but it still pisses me off that I can’t just use my AirPods Pro which have low latency with any console, especially the new ones.
I can't wait for you to make the best gaming headset list for the xbox series x|s. I hope it comes out soon so I can do some last minute christmas shopping
They haven't fixed the big design flaw. The earcups connect at one point and that point fails over time. I have had two steel headsets, both failed in that location.
Everyone check Walmart’s around you, even if they don’t show stock on their website some stores by you might have stock, I just picked up a 7x in store! Call the store or search the sku in a Walmart stock check website
I have a few questions: • Does it have virtual 7.1 surround for Xbox Series X? • Can it pick up any little detail like reloads, footsteps and the like? • Is it the best surround* wireless headset for the Xbox Series X?
@@JohnJohn-pr1sh Hey, I got the headphones and they're the same shit as any other $100+ headset. It allegedly has surround but it's not that different than stereo and vertical audio is very trippy. So yeah...
@@tflyfoster3018 Ok but what he is mentioning is the only difference between 7x and 9x. 9x has bluetooth and the xbox connecting method- thats all. you can use both on pc but the 7x on ps4,ps5, pc and xbox one x, xbox series x/s
Anyone else find it ridiculous that this is a headset that is designed primarily for Xbox but you still need to use not only a wireless dongle, but also an adapter cable for said dongle to use it on an Xbox?
@@parsifalgoetz1237 F*** yeah you will. I prefer Dts when playing most games, but there are other games were Atmos is better. I suggest getting both if you can and going into the steelseries engine and fine tune it as well. $20 for both together I believe
@@parsifalgoetz1237 Yea bro, even on cheap $20 headphones Atmos will make a world of difference in terms of enhancing audio positioning, just make sure you're using it in gaming mode with performance mode turned on.
@@am97734 sony has said any usb will work with the 3d audio and the 7p is the exact headset as this and i got my 7x yesterday since 7p are sold out and they sound amazing check your walmart online said they only had one but when i went they had 2 so if you have more then 1 walmart near you i would check them all all people have been seeing them even when they say its out of stock online
i bought this headset for xbox. my only issue is that i cant change my mic monitoring so I can hear myself, hella loud as well. anybody know how to fix this
Great review bro. I'll be buying these whenever it becomes available, the things I'm most excited for is the volume wheel which has a nice click when changing the volume levels like the Acrtis Pros and the USB type C dongle which works with everything.
check your walmart i got mine yesterday i checked online they said they only had one but they had 2 instock if it says out of stock i would still go check every sore if you have more then 1 walmart near you some people have been seeing them even saying its out of stock
i purchased these a couple months ago and the sound quality is awesome. However the mic is really sensitive to where it picks up pressing buttons on controller or even a fan in the background. Does anyone know how to lower the mic sensitivity? I downloaded the steelseries engine but couldnt find a mic monitoring option.
Got an email from SteelSeries at 1am saying in stock, seen it at 6:45am when I woke up, & they were already sold out again. What, are they hand making these damn things or something??
I was in the same boat, but yesterday i walked into my local Walmart and they had a pair in the sealed glass case. They dont promote it so it may be worth checking.
Love my Artic 3's but the cord got damaged and started acting up. Was really pissed off till I noticed that the cord be unplugged and replaced. They have got to be one of the best designed headsets I have ever owned.
Thanks so much for the review man, I am debating if I should get these and I think you made me decide I will. Quick question though, if you take the dongle and attach it a usb-c on the pc would it still work? Or does the usb-c only work for xbox, and for pc you have to usb the usb adapter?
@@cristianramos7058 I went ahead and got the normal Arctis 7 black version which has a normally usb Bluetooth adapter on it. The headrest works great, I would strongly recommend it
@9to5Toys any change you will review the offical "Xbox Wireless Headset"? Tossing up between that or the Arctis 7x which you recommend here. They don't sell the 7x in Australia but should be able to ship it in. Arctis 9x is here in Aus but looking at forums there are lots of connection issues :\ Edit: ALL GOOD. Decided i am gonna risk the 9x interference issue.. worst case ill return it
How loud do these let you get? I ask because rainbow six siege is a pretty quiet game compared to CoD. So I want to know if it can get loud enough to help me out.
I am so torn between these, the turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2, and the hyperx cloudx flights... they’re all priced about the same I really wish someone would compare all 3 :,(
I got this headset and immediately took them back. Came from an Arctis 5, which was the most comfortable, greatest sounding headset I had ever owned.. maybe I did something wrong? But the 7x immediately sounded horrible..
headphone purchasing is like purchasing a computer chair...you almost need to try it before you buy it. i guess its nice to try everything out before you buy it, the only thing i bought without trying first was my series x lol
Can this be plugged into the Xbox with USB for wired use? I refuse to use Xbox controllers any longer since I had bad luck with every single one of the 4 controllers I ordered (two of which were even elite 2‘s). I am now using keyboard and mouse, but plugging my arctis 3 in with a usb to Aux adapter doesn’t work …
Fun fact: I watched this video with the Arctis 7X lol. It’s perfect. Might need to mess around with the eq settings before you use it though because the sound is much better if you do
Using the 9x with my phone was awful, and I returned it because of it. The bluetooth audio is choppy almost half the time, and I'm not even exaggerating. Trust me, it's not worth passing up the 7x to go with its weaker alternative.
It would be really nice if i could actually buy one here in Australia. theyve been out of stock for almost a month and Im operating with no sound currently. I have a series x and pc so dont know if i should just go for the 9x instead
I just bought one of the 7X to use on the series X. I love the headset but I found that the mic was terrible. My friends in the party said that it sounded distorted and cheap. Compared to my 5 years old £20 headset that I was replacing.. the mic was 10x worse. Is there any fix for the mic on Xbox? I’m really disappointed because it’s really expensive
Are those 2 micro usb ports inches away from each other. Not judging their design, just confused about what each does. Also, what is the share feature? Can my gf sit next to me with a cheap pair of wired headphones and hear my game and party chat? Would be great for Jackbox Games nights.
So what I want to know is can I use this headset with the wireless connection to my PC, but also receive audio simultaneously through the 3.5mm jack? Use case is I want to chat and hear Discord and PC stuff, but also play on my Xbox Series console, and hear the audio from my second monitor that would be output through that monitor's audio out jack. Playing it through the speakers is a no go, (like also not using a mechanical keyboard) because I'm not a terrible and inconsiderate person.
Mic sounds decent, but a bit overcompressed and heavy on the S-sounds. Then again, seeing as it's compatible with all my devices and wireless it may just be my first wireless headset purchase if I can find one.
How do these compare to the 2nd gen stealth 700’s? My main concerns are comfort, microphone quality, and sound quality. Microphone quality is really important to me.
The stealth 700 gen2 are better in terms of sound quality and volume. It's also more comfortable and looks premium. But the 7x is more versatile with different system compatibility.
Just sold me on the 7x I've been looking at steel series for a while now and I was on the fence with this and the ASTRO a40s w/mixamp. I don't want wireless, but want the party chat sliders, without buying a game doc or mixamp type thing. I wanted the arctis 5s but they don't work on Xbox S, I've heard. Still would you still recommend these if I wasnt going to use the wireless part and if not what would you recommend. I was almost dead set on the ASTRO A40S that have the mix-up and everything. Still kinda on the fence with the artist 7x or the ASTRO a40 w/mix-up. Please help me!
I've been a peasant gamer most my life this headset makes me feel like what have I been doing with my life the sound quality compared to most wired headsets is not even comparable the 7x is that good I purchased the arctis 1 first and damn the sound quality was definitely there so I figured if the arctis 1 are amazing in sound what will the 7x be I never want to use another wired headsets again
I wanne know if the 7X supports virtual surround and how are they watching movies on the series x ? And can you download the dolby atmos on series x to use it on them ?
Right now I'm in the market for wireless headsets but I'm undecidable especially when it comes to when you have a big head and I saw your review on the 7x but I was also thinking of getting the Turtle Beach stealth 700 Gen 2 and I don't know if that was a good thing to get for someone that has a big head or not or if there's another headset out there that is even better
Can I connect these to my iPhone? I mean I see the 3.5 jack and I have the piece that turns the 3.5 jack into a lightning cable. So if I do that would it work?
You mentioned you can use this with xbox, pc, switch, and "PLAYSTATION" how do you use the arctis 7x with playstation ??? I don't think there is a wireless headset on the market that works on both Sony ps5 and xbox series x consoles at the same time... I would love a 1 wireless headset solution. By the way I currently using arctis 9x with my series x awesome! I'm thinking of getting turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2 for my playstation 5. I like Bluetooth features for calls while playing
They suck, wearing a pair now. They sound good but the big drawback is the goggle strap, it starts stretching out the first week you are wearing them. The mic boom never wants to stay where you set it as it wants to curl. I hate them. I miss my Gamcom 780's. I will say they have the best cord Ive seen in a highend headset. Edit: That is not the same strap as mine has, mine do not go over the top, mine is under the top strap.
I've watched countless videos on the arctis 7x and the TB Gen 2 700, and I cannot decide between the two. I was hoping for a comparison video or if anyone has any advice on the topic?
I have both and have issues with audio cutting out on the TB Gen 2 700. I find the the Arctic 7X to be more comfortable too. The Stealth 700 are too tight as well. I’ll be selling the 700’s
