What a great ride! That burst of speed was amazing and it was fun throughout the whole thing. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone who likes roller coasters. Videos never do the ride justice, but it does give you a feel as to how the ride is. But you have to actually GET ON to know how it actually is. Ill admit, I thought it would be a lame ride, but it really isn't. I hope I can visit NY next year and do it again!
I went to Coney Island this summer. Steeple chase was my first ever roller coaster. It was actually scarier than it looks, lol. But that's coming from a huge scaredy cat so
My friends and classmates went on it (I went to Luna park yesterday) They said it went fast but when it made that sideways curve they said it felt like they where gonna fall I didn’t went on it since I’m afraid of heights and crap but I know, it didn’t look high
Although it looks like fun, it doesn't compare to the original "Steplechase" ride. On that one you sat on a wooden horse, that ran on a track around the park. There was nothing holding you on, but a leather strap. When you got off, you had to deal with the evil clowns. They had electric pokers that they zapped you with as you tried to get past them. I was just a kid, but I remember it well!
If you were a girl they blasted your skirt up if you walked over a vent. Me and my friend, were in the audience when a girl with no panties on got blasted .her skirt went up around her neck.
I did this in the 1950s. Each horse was separate then so you really felt like you were on a horse -- far more than being on a roller coaster. Coney Island was magic!
Now I can say I went on the original Steeplechase back in the early 60's. I'm glad they kept the memory by bringing the name back even though it wasn't the same ride.
It looked slow, I can tell you yesterday I was there and I started screaming my head off. Awesome. But my mom won’t let me on it again. She got scared for me😳😳😳
It seemed much more open in the 1950's and it was like riding a roller coaster caroseul , no music and it was fast .... There were totally wild rides there then.
I rode the original Coney Island Steeplechase when it was moved to the now defunct Pirate's World in Dania, Florida. No seatbelt, no pole to clasp-- nothing except for a strap on the horse's neck to hand-hold! How in the world...? I was petrified, hung on for dear life! I don't know what kind of protection they have on the Blackpool Steeplechase. Robb Alvey and friends, thank you for your nice, clear videos from all over the world.
I nearly had a panic attack on this thing. Like, my face was literally frozen. I thought I’d fall. My whole class thought I was funny, but oh my fucking god I thought I’d die!
This ride looks like it might be fun, but it also seems too short to me. The original Steeplechase ride looked like it was longer and MUCH more fun! They need to bring that back SOMEWHERE!
+JoMarieM STAY TUNED!! A new version of the original classic STEEPLECHASE ride will show up at the new FUN CITY U.S.A. park (to debut somewhere in north-central Florida)!!
I remember goin there when i was 9 or 10 (im 13 now) but lemme tell you how i just couldnt bring myself to actually have fun, i was TERRIFIED i kept yelling at my big brother “ IM GOING TO DIIIIEEEE I DONT WANNA DIEEE” But ya know some years later and im going back on it tomorrow again, it will bring back nice and bad memories😂
This video doesn’t really give away just how fast it is. Also, be warned - the seat restraints hurt like hell when they pop up without warning and squish you in.
Well when I went the lines weren't that bad. It opens in 5 days so you can go then. Btw, I have a feeling that the lines are going to be VERY long because next week it is Spring Break and alot of kids and their families might be there.
Omg I was in that ride and it's not scary at all only in the beginning when it launches it goes very fast and TBH I didn't expect that but then it's slow it's really not bad it was fun xD but my uncle got scared thinking when it was fast in the launch he thought it would be fast the whole entire time xD
THESE RESTRAINTS HURT SO BAD!!! it was a fun, gentle ride but the restraints pinned me up against the horse and i couldn’t breathe, then the worker came by and pushed the back of it as hard as she could on me and it hurt so bad!! other than that it is fun haha
The original steeplechase ride was very dangerous. It had individual horses on each track and it glided along an electric track and, God forbid, if you would fall. The only thing holding you to the horse is a strap around the torso. There are some old vids on it on youtube!
I rode these horses in the mid-50's. As scary 😨 as this video is, back then it was.worse...The horses were individual, so when the ride started, it looked like an actual horse race. And you were on your own Besides the speed, the neck & head reared back & I really got the feeling I was going to fall off. Wow, all these later - made quite an impression.
