I have about 7.7K on my 2018 Goldwing (non-tour) and, on a Saturday, noticed my handlebars with a lot of play after wondering my my bike felt a little "off" on some rough pavement. I waited until Monday to call for an appointment and they are booking 3 weeks out. I took what you showed here and tightened up that steering nut. I'll be keeping a regular eye on it from now on. Thanks a bunch sir!
Thank , I’ve got 20 miles on mine and the bars are loose , went to a dealer to see if others move , and they don’t . Now I have to get it there 3-30-19
Not only does Max show us the problem but then shows us the fix & root of the issue. I hope his videos calms down the flak some where directing his way when he first pointed out weaknesses in the '18 suspension. I still think this bike is a great but it has a lot of new model teething pains.
Honda's Kikuchi assembly plant usually puts a white-out mark on every major fastener to confirm the factory torque was completed and double checked. Just curious if this nut had the mark?
This is my bike. It happened from trailering it over 1000 miles using the handlebar straps with only 200 miles. Max fixed it here and now with 1200 miles on the odometer its loose again after being trailered from Myrtle Beach. This time I will use Red Loctite on the nut and that should remedy the problem.
I have always associated Honda as being the best of the big 4 Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, but after seeing assorted videos regarding ‘steering’ issues on the new Wing my opinion has somewhat changed. I was seriously considering purchasing a new Wing for the summer, but I think I will wait for the 2019 model when hopefully all these issues will be a thing of the past. The problems being uncovered are unacceptable on a bike that will cost nearly £30,000 in the U.K. for the DCT variant. For you guys in the States that price equates to an eye watering $42,000 - yes $42,000!
