This week I remove the steering head assembly on my 2006 Benelli 1130 TnT. The front wheel removal video can be found here: • Benelli TnT 1130 Front...
Hi Mike, that sounds quite early for a head steering bearings change. How old is the bike now? I am pretty sure they last much longer on the Breva. Great job again. Thanks.
The bike is 16 years old and has done around 40,000km. The grease had dried up as well which didn't help. The Breva has tapered roller bearings which have a much longer service life.
1:57 That's not a Torx bolt. The service manual mentions a "Benelli special tool" to remove the top but that special tool is just an M18 Spline bit (which again is kinda hard to source) From another video I saw, 5/8 Allen Key was also used to remove this bolt. 5/18 and 16mm hex are almost the same in which 16mm is a hair bit snugger. I don't have a 5/8 or 16mm Allen key but do have a T60 Torx bit, T60 is the biggest commercially available Torx bit socket and it's not even half as gritty as the indents are and also the indentation is different. So I guess I have to buy a 16mm Hex bit now, but didn't the 16mm hex damage your bolt as this is a high torque fastening? Update: Since the M18 spline bit was very hard to source, I went to the authorized Benelli service station and opted out to purchase the special tool and came to know that even they themselves are using the 16MM hex to remove this part. LOL
@@MikesMachines I'm looking for removing the triple trees. I know you used an Allen to revive the torx, do you also use that to tighten it? Then what was the size of the castle socket. Lastly, I think it was a homemade tool. Do you know where I can purchase something like that? Also, do you have torque specs?
