In this video the boys have fun riding their pet steers the giveaway announcement is announced and we are starting to work on the Gehl 1177 manure spreader geting it fixed so it's ready to use when needed.
We rescued a jersey steer that my son raised. He’s a big pet. My son would ride him also. We still have him. Keep us posted on the spreader. Have a good one
From the looks of the comments below, there are several good suggestions for the spreader axle repair. Still amazed at times with the thought of just how poop can affect steel. Good to see the boys getting out of the house & enjoying their time on the farm. Stay safe.
Hello great video. Glad that you were able to get all the stuff done even in the mud. The kids looked like they had alot of fun God bless stay safe and have a wonderful day
I'm in the same boat Ted. I've been wanting to get a video out for 3 weeks. Manure sure eats the metal. Dad and I had the same problem with his spreader. We cut the stubs off and put in 3 or 4 inch X 3/8 square tubing, eliminating the channel going across. Great to see the kids enjoying themselves! MB BAR RANCH
I torched out the stub axle shafts then welded them into a 3/8..I believe square tube (little over kill but it was laying around)and ran that all the way under the spreader. I've done that on 2 new Hollands, held up excellent.
Like Tom said, great video, happy birthday a day late!!! That axle is actually an easy fix, you just need someone who is good at welding and knows how to fix it right.. BTW, we do that kind of thing 😎 But you would have to bring it here... I'd wear one of the shirts, not a hoodie fan, but I'd wear it!!😎😁👌
The stuff I was looking at I believe went for dealer high used to price but yes stuff to go pretty cheap. I sat home and watched the whole thing on line
@@pughviewfarms4622 yeah if you were looking at the top of the line stuff it's always going to go for dealer high price...jd plow went cheap. Now I get to buy his IH plow lol
Kid looked like they were having fun with the steers. I had the same thing happen to a manure spreader I had. I got lucky and found a axle at a sale and bought it. That made for an easy fix, I just swapped it out.
Piece of square tubing that will go from one tire stub shaft to the other, make it an actual axle, then weld both axle stub shafts to it. Cuz you know the other side isn't far from letting go!
I used to ride cows back in the dairy farm days here all the time lol it beat walking lots of times . And I just went threw a knight spreader and rebuilt it so hope it lasts another year... stay safe and have a good one
By the looks of it ted might be better to flip that spreader over and build a whole new axle. Chances are the other side wont be far behind breaking off to. Good luck
