Stefan and Klaus in the 1920s | The Vampire Diaries 3x03 "The End of the Affair"

To get in touch with a witch that can help with the hybrid plan, Klaus brings Stefan to Chicago, which also happens to be where Stefan spent most of his ripper days. At the witch’s bar, Gloria’s, Stefan finds a photograph of him and his bestie from the 1920s. Through 20s flashbacks, we see why Klaus wanted Stefan to come along with him in the first place and we get our first glimpse of Rebekah. Katherine is of course not far behind, and she tips off Damon, who grabs Elena for a road trip to once again try to rescue Stefan. Meanwhile in Mystic Falls, Bill tortures Caroline until Liz frees her with the help of Tyler and a warning shot. Back in Chicago, Elena reads Stefan’s journals and begs him one last time to come home, but unfortunately Stefan doesn’t want to be saved.

Damon and Klaus’s banter is the best. They are such a funny duo. I would have honestly loved more scenes between them. They’re both my favorite characters in the show.

I love how Damon was tortured the whole night by klaus, but he still asked Elena if she was okay. Damon and Elena’s banter was the highlight of this episode in my opinion. I love it when he sleeps next to her on the bed. They’re so cute.

Great episode. I still think about how different The Originals would have been because they were going to have the show be set in Chicago because of this episode but they decided to put it in New Orleans which i think was a great decision. Chicago would be great if the show was set in the past but for a modern day setting New Orleans is a much better city for the supernatural shenanigans that goes on in The Originals show. Its crazy that Damon is like you got five minutes max to convince Stefan to come home because im going in there to annoy a 1000 year old original hybrid and he does it. Damon is fearless and he calls him Honey 😂

Relatable Paul also might be my fav episode. Mikaelsons being in love with Stefan 😅 And Klaus killing off every Beccas boyfriend's and making her choose him over anyone, he is extremely jealous and uncertain in his siblings loyalty.

Weird that in the show they didnt include or think of Micheal looking at or taking notice of the necklace at any point since Rebecah wore it and she said it belonged to her mum

I have a huuggee question: how none of these vampires didnt sense her, didnt hear her heartbeat, dont believe it. Klaus knew that Kathrine is taking a precaution and he leveraged it. And he did hear the only human in a room? They think we are idiots

I actually really liked that they had Bill be the one to do this to Caroline (ideally it would never happen, cause wow that's just wrong) but I think that they had Bill be the one to do it because it is one, unexpected with how he could do that to his own daughter, two, you would think he would see the connection to his own background ie conversion therapy, and three, I think it was intentional because it shows how twisted human nature can be and that the desire to try to force what YOU think is the right thing onto others is a powerful force that humans will likely struggle with as long as we exist.

I have a theory for why Stephan gets the vamp-eyes when kissing Elena. I think that Elena’s blood is rushing when they’re making out and since Stephan is close to her neck it happens. I have to believe this because it being $exual makes me so uncomfortable haha

Me before season 3: hate John Gilber worst father & uncle Me while season 3: you know what love John and hate Bill Forbs. Like one really was worrying about his daughter and despite being a vampire hunter he said: no matter if you reading this as a human or a vampire I love nonetheless 😢 Thats why I dont really hate him that much he was caring, good motive bad execution, I can justify him at this point. BILL FORBS i was waiting so hard for him to die

John made a sacrifice for his daughter. Bill hated vampires so much he would rather die than be one. Him and Caroline were close so he chose death over eternity with his own daughter

TVD noob here. I could be remembering wrong because I’ve only just recently done my first watch through, but I’m pretty sure that Stefan has no idea he’s the ripper of Monterey. I believe that Kade is the one who makes Stefan remember that fact. P.S - Love the pod! My sister and I watch and talk about it every week ☺️
