This video pays a tribute to Edberg's 6 grand slam wins (Aus open '85, Aus open '87, Wimbledon '88, Wimbledon '90, US open '91 and US open '92). All credit goes to the respective owners.
Stedan Edberg and Patrick Rafter are very similar, they play like gods (their serve n' volley, together with that of john mcenroe, is the best), are so humble and respected by practically everyone in the World of Tennis. So great persons.
This is an amazing achievement considering Becker leads the series 25-10. Stefan is the king of key moments though as Sampras’ fan this final hurts a lot… but not as that with Hewitt in 2001.
Edberg's 1991 US Open was his most dominating title. Sweden was so good in men's tennis in the 80's and early 90's. Incredible as Sweden is a cold weather country.
Even mine also. I followed him and the era he played was the golden era of tennis. Becker, Lendl, Wilander, Agassi, Sampras, Courier, Stich, Ivanisevic,Chang and many others. He was no.1 player in the world for long time.
The last hug equals all grand slam winnings..... What a player..... Great to watch winning those all grand lams with good competitors..... GREAT ONE.... TQ...
last vs Sampras with Italian commentary on +2 , my goodness ... so many memories. Those were the days (years): I was eating, sleeping and watching tennis, sometimes playing it too :)
I feel Australian Open 1990 is lacking.... a final that Edberg was dominating, ruined by an abdominal injury.... and Roland Garros 1989, most painful loss ever.... those cursed 10 break points in the 4th set.... a nightmare
@BetaOnPurposeLMS-coach Edberg was injuried in second set, he had won 1st set and was serving for second set after making a break. Than he couldn’t shot any smash and couldn’t serve strong anymore and in those terrific condition he lost 2nd set and retired 2-5 in the 3rd
Yeah, but Michael Chang was a great winner too, and i was happy for him. That French open was the one moment where my love for tennis started. I found his match vs Lendl in 1/4 final extraordinary !
I recall watching the three Wimbledon finals against Becker and the two U.S. Open wins. He absolutely dismantled Courier in 1991. Can't imagine there are many more men's Grand Slam finals in which the winner was so dominating.
I have read some comments that Edberg and the others back then wouldn't be top players these days - I think the opposite. Would like to see today's guys try to stand Edberg's volleys or Borg's base line shots...
@@othersideimages not nearly to the same extent. I think it's a pretty meaningful difference. how could it not be, given differences in equipment and technique?
@@DaggerMan11 Who knows - I think that different equipment would have made Edberg's volleys more dangerous, too. I myself for instance played with wood and graphite rackets, the equipment neutralizes the respective strenghts - but hey - we will never know...
Truly great players of one era would adjust their game accordingly. We are talking about one of the greatest players of the open era and he would have surely adjusted.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my login password. I love any help you can give me
As this guy was crying lately after his father's death, mine up to the age of 31 mentally abused me, what a different story, everything was different ...
Yes, AO was usually played in December. 1985 edition was actually the last one organized at the end of the year. In 1986 there was no AO tournement, while in January 1987 this championship resumed to be run.
