I went and seen him do this....that is bad ass he is my idol I love the sound he can get out of that trombone...I love the trombone...I play one and i would love to do what he can do..
This is gorgeous. There's something a little too breathless about the tempo of the middle section though- I feel like it makes Lotta's song feel less "vocal" and more purely instrumental. You almost lose the words for a while, even when there are none. What's the name of the pianist? (Unfair to leave out- this is played by two people!)
The composer wrote it for his friends daughter who had just started playing trombone and he promised to write her a concerto if she kept playing, however she stopped before she ever got to play this piece which is kinda sad but there ya go
Lotta is actually my mother. He wrote it for her when she turned 18, as a present if she continued to play trombone, which she did. Eventually she stopped playing and pursued a career within the UN. She has kept the original notes in our basement. This piece is beautiful! :)
that makes more sense, Mr. Paus. At least, for a low brass instrument. Those who play such instruments seem to enjoy writing and playing in Bb as do I. It's extremely natural... I mean flat.
