Full review of the Steinhart Ocean One Ceramic Bezel.
The Steinhart Ocean One is truly the common man's Swiss Watch. It can be purchased directly from the manufacturer for about $400 US, and features many of the same materials found in more expensive watches.
The Steinhart features a Swiss 2824-4 25 Joule Automatic movement, sapphire crystal and magnifier, solid link stainless steel bracelet bracelet with solid metal clasp (not pressed steel), and the looks of a much more expensive watch.
I highly recommend this watch to anyone looking for an entry level swiss watch or a solid watch that can be worn everyday without any worry.

You know for a young Feller I think you picked a great watch. I'm looking for one too. At one time in my life I bought a Submariner from a pawn shop. I love that watch and I really feel like I'm going to love this one. I'm an old man and I live on about $13,000 a year, but the VA helps me with my rent. 66 years old no friends no family this is going to be my Christmas present to myself in 2017. I sure hope those lugs are 22. Watching your video and other videos and comparing it to a Seiko turtle, although I do love Seiko, I'm going with the STIENHART! Thanx

Excellent review, very informative. Like your down to earth video approach . Not saying the more in-depth reviews are Bad and certainly not criticizing yours. For new watch collectors your style is interesting and informative. I actually have been researching Steinhart watches, had a chance to wear the military style for a bit. It’s the ocean one that captured my interest.Ordered and on the way as we speak. Thanks again and subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more videos.

Nice video. I've owned this watch for several years now and it's been awesome. I had a problem with the crown, but Steinhart paid for the shipping and the repair and got it back to me very quickly. It looks great on the wrist at 42mm and a grey/black nato strap really makes it stand out. I highly recommend this watch if you're looking for a Rolex Submariner homage watch with it's own character. I have no problem with homage watches as long as they are well crafted like this one is.

Great review! Take out the scratch on the clasp with a little toothpaste and a microfiber towel, done deal. Use the pillow when storing the watch and keep it stored. This watch is a keeper and nice enough as a date or a dinner watch.

From video, With the gloss Ceramic bezel insert, the numbers and markings appear to be faded in some lighting angles, compared to matte Aluminum bezel insert where markers are more clear. Do you find the clarity of markers on ceramic bezel fine. The Steinhart titanium 500 appears to have Lumed markers on its ceramic bezel which appears to make the markers stand out more like the Rolex Submariner.

I could afford a more expensive watch if I put my mind to it and saved but I would never be comfortable with a watch costing over $1000 so a Rolex is out of the question. Steinhart have good options for someone like me. I am looking at the Ocean 44 which is an homage to the Rolex Sea Dweller, which I hope to purchase for my 50th birthday in May. Thank you for an enjoyable review.

I bought two Seiko's for about ~300 each. SRPA21 and SARB017. I'm quite new to the watch game (last watch before the Seiko's was a Quartz Fossil), but I think they're fucking amazing for the prize. Esp the SRPA21. Next up I'll probably get something around $2k. If you would like a more expensive watch, Rolex is probably a terrible choice (second only to Patek). Go for a bit more pricey Seiko perhaps (SBDX017 is on my list) or a Hamilton or something. There are a lot of videos on ~1k-2k watches and if for nothing else you'll get a decent idea of what brands shine in that category. In my mind it's """""cooler""""" having an "expensive" watch that not a lot of people spot instantly rather than a subpar Rolex.

99% of folk will be totally unimpressed with your Steinhart and they will be totally unimpressed with your Rolex. That will probably upset Rolex owners, or those that say they wouldn't be seen dead wearing a Seiko (lmao) Fact is the majority of people are not remotely interested in watches. I know someone that sold their submariner because frankly, nobody cared. People should just buy whatever they want because it really won't say as much about you as some would have you think.

Great video. I believe this movement has a power reserve in the 40-48 hour range. Would you mind weighing the watch on the bracelet as you have it adjusted? I really curious how much this watch weighs on the adjusted bracelet. Perhaps there is a good scale at the grocery store that can weigh in grams.
@seayak
@seayak Год назад
Yes, would be nice to have a longer power reserve, but this one is only two days. I have a Tissot Seastar with the Powermatic 80 caliber, and the 80 hour reserve is a very nice feature. That one was my first mechanical watch and it did not disappoint functionally, but I find it a bit boring on the wrist, visually. Anyway the shorter power reserve of the ET 2824-2 did not stop me from ordering an Ocean One 39 mm with the green ceramic bezel. Can't wait for it to arrive!

I've been very happy with it. I don't think you could find a much better automatic in this price range.

I wouldn't knock your Seiko that much. I think it is an attractive piece and one you should proudly wear. You are comparing a dress watch to a dive watch. Different feel, fit and finish all around. Seiko is a quality brand and if you compared a Seiko dive watch of a similar price point with the Steinhart, it would be a much closer comparison. That said, I think Steinhart has Seiko beat on value for the money. Thanks for the video, sir!

Well I just received mine a little over an hour ago! :) I ordered on Sunday 26 Feb. Was notified of shipment on Friday. The watch came on Monday at about 8 pm local time. Total about 8 days between order and delivery. Not bad! Only beaten by the credit card invoice for the purchase which came this morning.... :( First impressions: 1 Watch is really beautiful to behold! For an untrained eye it looks perfect, no blemishes. 2. It's really heavy! Possibly my heaviest watch. 3. No soft cloth. Surely this could have been included... 4. The bezel is really stiff to turn. Not sure whether would improve with usage. Perhaps I should start working out my fingers... 5 Ceramic bezel is absolutely stunning! 6 Really not all that big. Seems perfect size for me, a 5'4" guy... Blade, thanks to you, my man! :)

To add to my earlier comment, I just got the bracelet shortened to fit. I'm finding the bracelet rather uncomfortable. The edges of the chain links are rather sharp and tends to cut into the wrist. Given the heft of the watch and bracelet I'm finding it rather uncomfortable. Perhaps it's too tight a fit. I'm planning to bring it back to add another link...

I'm sure you can find something fancy to clean it, but I usually just wash it when I was my hands with soap and water if it is dirty. You could use a sponge too, just not anything that would scratch the band or case. It's a dive watch so you shouldnt need to worry about water ingress!

The GMT feature of the watch. The GMT feature is used to keeping track of a different time zone. If you do not need to know the time in a different time zone, then the feature will most likely be useless to you. here is the website in response to your other comment. www.steinhartwatches.de/en/?___from_store=de

It's a nice watch but it is a German watch not Swiss. The watch is equipped with a Swiss movement tho. That's why Swiss made is shown on the watch.
@TheBladeSickness
@TheBladeSickness 7 лет назад
You are not incorrect. The company is located in Germany, and the movement is swiss. At this price point, I'm more concerned that the watch even contains a swiss movement (the most important part of the watch in my opinion. However, in order to be able to claim "swiss made," a manufacturer must meet criteria for percentage of watch produced in switzerland among other things. I am no expert, but I believe the movement must be cased in switzerland. So it may be possible that they do all the finishing and bracelet fitting among other things in germany. The watch bearing the "swiss made" label means that it fits the criteria for a swiss made watch, although it is in part produced in germany.

@@worldsmack Your statement is incorrect. Before moving back to the states, I worked for Steinhart QC for over 5 yrs. I assure you the movements are NOT made in China.
