There's an item that lets you revive immediately. If you have one in your inventory, the screen will dim instead of fading to black completely so you can see Eve actually collapse.

expecting Bayonetta style death and game over screen, but i expect too much, it seems. at least she is beautiful, that's a reward the game could give us nowadays

The backlash of this game since announcement has terrified devs so much they skipped making death scenes n sometimes animation itself, even "you died" screen pops up in some occasions while character still standing.

As someone else pointed out in the comments, if you have WB pump in your inventory, you can view the entire dead animation without the "You Died" screen cutting it out. This only works on combat deaths though.
