Video is recorded in HDR but RU-vid can take up to 48 hours to process HDR. Until HDR is finalized the picture will look very washed out and Colors will be wrong. Please come back later to watch this Video in HDR again. Thank You!
I think it works well for stuff like gaming where accuracy and proper EOTF Curve and gamut precision is not even needed, since are just games. But for films, I've tried RTX HDR and is like a new technicolor but for hdr and everything looks fake, fan edit like at the point there's a complete loss of the original intent of the film and director. The real hdr gives what a scene should look in reality and with RTX HDR all goes pushed up even where the cameras should be seen lol. On top of that, the color is not real wide gamut as their process is placing 709 into SRGB? And then control the output via AI saturation balancing the whole thing to acceptable levels. Again, fake HDR. I think you should really check out TEKNO3D Labs new Video Conversion solution if interested in proper SDR to HDR, I mean it's freaking dope Conversion and I have tried myself with old blurays and also the ones with HDR studio versions, and the software generated HDR is so much better in all aspects. Check it out Google for HDR-X Video Converter or look up here on RU-vid. They recently uploaded an amazing SDR to REAL HDR showcase for the latest version of the software. You will thank me later 😊
My jaw dropped when I went down the ladder. You can tell by every detail that has been put into this game that it was made with pure passion for gaming. I wasn't sure if I was going to play it before the demo but I'm definitely buying it day one rn
Yeah, on my CX I also turned dtm instead of hgig on. I find hgig so dark, it's almost as if there is a veil being put over the display when using hgig.
bro, I'm jealous.... I hope I can ascend one day xD. I am happy with my 1500nits Mini LED TV but who wouldn't be happier with a 1500nits OLED TV with all available gaming features possible 😍 that TV can hold 10 easily.
Really enjoyed and loved this demo, absolutely incredible !!! 🤩👏👍 It’s going to be DAY ONE purchase for me for sure !!! Thanks a lot for your video as always !! 😎👌 Can’t wait for your video about the different graphics modes ! 🎮
It's crazy to me that high budget developers can't implement a proper HDR slider that determine the nits value, or even use the PS5 calibration settings. On my C1, this game looks good with HGiG, I probably keep this setting. Thanks Markus 💪🏻
@@abby-xf8op Well an LG CX or C1 is enough to appreaciate really good HDR with around 800 nits and for example here in germany its sold for ca. 1000€ So nowadays there really should not be an excuse and it is quite affordable. HDR OLEDs are getting very cheap now. No need for a 3000€/$ panel.
This demo was really amazing! I already pre order it, so I can’t wait to play it. I just wish we can adjust the peak brightness of the game’s hdr implementation, but it still looks pretty good.
Ok, I did more investigating and the black level is still wrong and can’t be fixed using in game settings. If you disable hdr and load the game in SDR you can see the contrast is all wrong in hdr. I did find a stupid fix but it looks a lot better. I set the ps5 to full rgb and then the tv to limited. I then used Marcus recommended 65 brightness and 55 contrast. Looks way better. I usually don’t ever recommend having mismatched video ranges but I highly recommend trying it on this game only.
Thanks a lot! My monitor can do 1200 nits full screen sustained and I was scratching my head as to what brightness and contrast combination I should use, and your video really helped.
Thanks for this HDR video, perhaps an updated and final release will be better. Though, looking forward to see the bouncing and thick animation video you were talking about 😍
When I turn on HDR the menu background has posterization and loses all the contrast. The game looks way better in SDR but you lose the specular highlights
Man, I hope there is a PC release at some point for that full 4K experience too. I love the idea of the game, it's an old school design philosophy with new school graphics. It's all about the gameplay, all about delivering a fun blast of a game for hours and hours with a solid story and great animation and graphics work alongside. It feels like one of those random gems from PS2/PS3 era, you know the ones...the hood classics. They come out of nowhere and literally every just nods and approves of the quality. Love it. And who doesn't like the added bonus of an extremely attractive main character with literally the best body physics I've ever seen in a game.
I have a Sony XH95 and i can already see a big difference just by activating / deactivating HDR in the menu. With HDR enabled theres suddenly like a bright foggy haze on the screen and everything gets a huge brightness boost for no reason. Even with just the default 50 value. In SDR the screen is like 25% darker with more contrast. Also when that Stellar Blade logo pops up after that intro boss, i can see a lot of color banding artifacts around the logo because it looks like the screen is way too bright for that logo image and theres like a misbalance between bright and dark spots in that night mission.
I really liked the game, I even made the purchase... but my TV doesn't have HGIG... In DTM it's opaque and without DTM it's very bright... I left it without and set the game's brightness and contrast to 45.
Doesn’t it matter how many frames and hz screen you have? The higher the frames and refresh rate, the less motion blur. So yes motion blur might look better on your setup but let’s say you have a 360hz monitor with high frames, is it still better? Then it’s the whole question of blur is more realistic to how our eyes see but gamers usually prefer no blur in a perfect world. Not that I’ve played this game, just sharing general thoughts. Edit: forgot this is a ps5 game so you’re super limited on frames anyways.
@@Ray-dl5mp it matters but you need like 240fps/hz to not benefit from motion blur in your animations. 60fps is good but could use some motion blending with motion blur
@@RicochetForce Not really. Recently plenty of games do per object motion blur. FF7 rebirth also has amazing per object motion blur. Full camera motion blur only is a thing of the past. FF16 had it but it also had great per object motion blur and at 30fps, camera motion blur is actually good
Hello, it's a pity that you skip the S95c so often, because having S95c and LG Cx, I consider Samsung to be a wonderful TV that is quite difficult to set up in games. Regards

Playing The game right now and it’s just fantastic !!! 🤩👌 But I really can’t choose between 50/50 by default or 75/60 like you said on this video 😭. It looks good by default but slightly dark on my S95B with HGiG enabled, when I put 75/60 it is so much better in terms of highlights and details, but the face of Eve is looking too bright, less natural than with 50/50, that’s really disturbing me that we can’t get The perfect HDR settings to get everything right 😅
Awesome thanks for the tip. I have a question, especially if your on a LG C1 Tv and playing StellarBlade on Balance mode which moves from 50 to 60fps. Should i Boost input lag 60fps or leave at as Standard input lag? Thanks in advance :)
Hi love your videos. Is it possible to mention HDR on/off comparison in your videos? For example, HDR on looks better than SDR in Stellar Blade in my opinion or not. Thanks.
I waited 7 months for that game to come out and when I found out I couldn't play it because I don't have a PlayStation I got pretty pissed hopefully it'll come to Xbox One game looks phenomenal but I'm waiting on Chrono Odyssey crimson desert Extinction and the Lost wild
So for my G3 leave it at the default settings? Or I can’t increase contrast + 1 or 2 as suggested but you never mentioned what the light output is at 75 brightness? You do awesome work but this one was vague.
Adjust the brightness and contrast as you like it and don't worry too much about the mac peak brightness. Try Brightness 65 and contrast 55 for a start with HGiG. I like Brightness 75 and contrast 60
I have my PS5 HDR set to Always On. In game, I have HDR set to OFF, but it’s still on cuz of PS5 system HDR. I think it looks much better than using the games HDR Eliminates the “washed out” look
You should buy the game to support it and send a message to companies hiring SBI that are ruining our games with politics for "modern audiences" that only exist in their head. The game is expensive in EU as well but I already preordered my deluxe on day one, if I could I would buy 2 copies just to fuck with SBI. And it looks like it'll be a good game too, HDR looks great as well that's even better, this is a GOTY.
Gaming people re review this now that game has fully released. New settings now...don't know if that impacted HDR in anyway but using your settings currently on a C1....it looks great
VG
The game doesn't use hgig/dtm , so if you turn off both you get back to the 4000 nits curve and the highlights will look correct since game doesn't have peak brightness settings you should using always avoid hgig/ dtm just like last of us 1/2 , god of war, all of those use SDR conversation to HDR which result in this huge peak brightness. In final fantasy vii they do the same the hdr is converted from SDR so it's not as accurate, even if they add the peak brightness it still have either too bright highlights or too dark picture. HDTV test guy explain it better: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2eN1bz_4X-M.htmlsi=cYd5VOTMw4ald8zO
I have the G2 / CX and S95C. S95C is the best TV what I have for games and Movies. But I am using my G2 as my main PC Monitor for editing and stuff because the WRGB Pixel Structure is much better for fine text.
Terrible that you cover every big release and also with a extended bunch of settings for diffirent screens. but you skipped on the full release of Stellar blade smh. always waiting for your videos for the perfect settings but today could not find anything and this video is far from perfect. make your videos with the schemes like you always used to do for diffirent tvs
It definitely has a little bit of ghosting at times, only in performance mode, the other two don’t show it, or maybe it does and it’s just much more subtle and I’m not catching it. But yea the Perf mode has a little bit when the sun is set behind EVE
Good video mate. Unfortunately the game looks like it's smeared in Vaseline... I use a C9 OLED and In game the colour is not great. Strangely when in the pause screen it looks great on the main character but during gameplay... More and more I am seeing these things with console games in performance modes. Thank god I have a decent PC. I love consoles and especially the PS5 but since moving to a damn good PC I find it much harder going back to the console . Especially where resolution and framerates are concerned. Also £70 is a joke of a price for any game.
Yea but that’s what he used to do - just share what looked good to him. Now he actually has a tool that is useful info. It’s good to know what the black floor of a game is and if the highlights are working properly in a game. That part is objective. But of course what looks good to you is subjective. A lot of people like to know what the accuracy focused start is so they can get enjoyable contrast. Or at least I do.
Well that just means that HDR is good as he said. Personally, I would not touch the settings unless you're getting black crush. DTM is killing contrast too. The game is bright enough as is. HGIG is best as always. One of the few games that actually need DTM in my opinion is Helldivers2, most of the planets are really just too dark and speculars are while impactful, too rare to make it worth.
