Would you like to know more? pdxint.at/2mvFVSx One of our five new tracks composed by Andreas Waldetoft included in our new Stellaris expansion Utopia.
I have told this story before, but... This track was a "bonus" song that I composed in a few hours just to have a "filler" in case we were done recording early in the Utopia session. We had 5 minutes and the orchestra nailed it on the first try. I am like other musicians... very emotional, but this performance made me teary eyed in the control room. R.I.P Mercedes Romero, you lived a long life!
seriously this was a filler? to me it's the lead piece of he entire soundtrack. So emotional, so full of spirit, so full of hope. And i have long ago decided that the day i'm to be buried, they need to play this piece to remember me, like we remember Mercedes Romero. Well done good sir Andreas. Amazing Piece.
"Mercedes Romero, famed Blorg scientist passed away from natural causes at the youthful age of 206. "She died doing what she loved, trying to make friends and being rejected." said a Blorg official in a prepared statement. Mercedes notably spearheaded the investigation of Earth and lived long enough to see Sol. She will be missed."
Not a scientist, but one of my admirals. Admiral Abbas Abdel-Qasim. What a story this guy had. Basically, shortly after his career as my Admiral started, the Worm-in-Waiting event chain happened and he was forced to witness his future self, punished by the worm, face off against one of my patrol squadrons. The event shook him up, but he kept his resolve. Eventually when the Worm was summoned, it was his fleet that was stationed in the Sol system guarding Earth. And he was the one who faced off with and destroyed the Worm. If his story ended there, it would have been badass. But it didn't. After the Worm was dealt with, Admiral Abdel-Qasim led a campaign through a nearby wormhole against the Cybrex Worlds, an advanced race of genocidal machines on the other side of the galaxy. Admiral Abdel-Qasim's fleet faced off against armadas of Cybrex ships, bombarding Cybrex worlds and destroying Cybrex forts. The ships he destroyed propelled the United Nation's technology forward by decades, centuries even. Then, it was his fleet that captured the Cybrex Homeworld and his fleet that delivered the killing blow to the Cybrex on their final planet, ending the Cybrex threat, after 25 years of relentless war. His final engagement was against one of the Marauder Empires which rallied around a Great Khan. As the Marauders spread through my border systems, they finally ran into Abdel-Qasim's fleet. After a long and bloody space battle, the Marauders were defeated and forced to retreat, their advance checked by Abdel-Qasim. About two days after that, Abdel-Qasim finally died. Its as if he decided that he had postponed death just to save humanity one last time. That he wanted to make sure that the UN that he loved so much was safe before he was ready to rest. RIP you magnificent bastard *salutes*
This wouldn't have happened if Mercedes had taken me up on my offer and uploaded her consciousness onto this nifty 'totally-not-malfunctioning' robotic body but nooooo. Nobody listens to me until they die.
I loved the Stellaris soundtrack. In over 500 hours, I've yet to skip a song, it's wonderfully good. Now, with the full orchestra... holy crap, you've gone full space opera, and I can't get enough. I dont' know how Paradox got ahold of Andreas Waldetoft, but please please please do not let him go. And when he says every Stellaris expansion needs new music with a full orchestra, you give it to him!
This song always conjured the idea for me of an empire in a lonely peacetime, exploring the galaxy, discovering new phenomena, and making great strides in technology as they wonder "Is anyone really out there?"
То что Вы делаете - это искусство! Спасибо Paradox Interactive ! Из России с любовью! ------------------------------------------------------------ What you create becomes art! Thanks Paradox Interactive! From Russia with love!
REST IN PEACE Mercedes Romero, the Blorg with remember you for generation to come, your contribution will not be in vain, we will pursue our destiny against all odds, forever more!
What an absolute banger of a song. Stands up on it's own. And very thankful this song exists as we also got In Memory of MR Luminous Flux, which is also an incredble piece with a very similar yet different sound.
I knew nothing about Stellaris until it launched. I gave it a try when my friend told me about it. I love it. It comes pretty close to replacing Civilization as my favorite strategy game
This music alone is inspiring me to create a new race for when the expansion comes out. The Vailons are a race of vulpine hominids, from the hot, wild jungle world of Aramus in the Arakim system. They are a proud and brave people, but one scarred by a long and tragic history. Driven by their spiritual beleifes and led by their ruler, the High Prince, they look now to the distant stars for purpose and for hope.
BOYS SHE IS ALIVE SHE IS A RENOWNED PARAGON WHO GOT STRANDED ! She can be enlisted as an Official now though not a Scientist, but again: She’s still alive!

FFS Paradox!!! I wasn't prepared for this today!!!! I love this. Please surprise us all with an early Utopia release :) :) :) Seriously though...I love everything about the Utopia expansion and all my friends and I are looking forward to the release. I predict another 16 hour game for us on release weekend. :) Great job!!!
"We are the Vailons... and We are the last. We were a people who set out into the stars, seeking purpose and with such great hopes. What we found was war and struggle. We fought for our place in this galaxy and eventually, we carved an empire for ourselves. And then THEY came. A terrible enemy, far worse than any we faced in our battles, just to survive. In the face of this enemy, old foes became allies and for a breif, shining, glorious moment, all the races of our galaxy were united. But now, we are the last. Our great enemy is defeated, finally and forever, but we the Vailons are the last civilisation to survive the great war and we too are a dying people. We leave this message, to those who will eventually come after us. We leave you this galaxy as our last gift to you. Make a better one than we did. Seek out your fellow beings, those who will follow in your footsteps and be their protectors. Do not repeat our tragedy. Seek Utopia, for all the children of these stars..."
I can dig this! imagining my fleets making their way to utopia only to engage with other species, crippling 80% of my fleet and destroying all my wormhole stations stranding my fleet in dark space, constantly harassed, dwindling my numbers as reinforcements try and breach and save what remains of my fleet...
I wondered how great it would be if in a future "stellaris 2" they make the animations of races in 3dmax like the portraits of Starcraft 2 with several types of voices It would be more Epic this game that is the tip to Paradox
"sorry the page doesnt exist" when clikcing the link to know more. Wow it seems in this big company you can remember, but not too much. Money has to be made, huh
I'll probly end up buying Stellaris for the music, and never get around to playing it Hoping to hear more tracks with the opera singer, like in Riding the Solar Wind - think Paradox could make space opera a new genre
I built an entire nation based on this soundtrack. Here it is: The Namarrians were a race of bat-like mammalians wishing to find their purpose among the stars and appease their ancestors wishes. Ruled by a Pastor-Chancellor along with a representative assembly, they formed the Namarrian Republic, promising to all to be peacekeepers of the galaxy. Around 230 years into the campaign, the Prethoryn appear at the doorsteps of the United Galactic Federation, an organization the Namarrians formed 100 years ago to protect their allies. Destroying entire nations and ravaging the Republic, they were pushed to the capital Namarr Prime. The Grand Task Force that protected the nation during times of war would take months to get to the system, and by the time they got there, the Hive was scouring the planet of life. In a last-ditch effort, Grand Admiral Hindelch ordered a full scale attack on the Scourge fleet. The Battle was fierce. Ship after ship was thrown at them and, at the last minute, a Sentinel fleet jumped in and engaged the Prethoryn. With the battle won, our citizen celebrated in the streets for days. At last with held them. After that, an Awakened Empire dealt with the rest of the Scourge. But, in cruel twist of fate by our ancestors, war was declared on us by Fanatic Purifiers. They annexed our territory and put our species into forced labor. Despite our horrible end, we left a mark on the galaxy no one will ever forget.
