Before a Stellate Ganglion Block procedure, he talks about the reasoning behind doing a nerve block in a patient’s neck to help facilitate healing from past traumas. In addition to the reasoning, Dr. T shares that it is not a stand alone procedure and it is crucial that it is combined with a form of psychotherapy (cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, talk therapy, etc) in order for the patient to actually do the difficult work of reconditioning, or desensitizing, the past trauma so that it does not impact their lives in the present / future. This procedure has seen incredible results for people with many different types of trauma: veterans, sexual assault, car accidents, traumatic physical events, and more.
