Awesome guys! Can't wait to get started with this. Have some doubts though how its possible to get the same sounding result from mixdown stemfiles compared to the final master done professionally most of the times.
some of the people below knocking stems , seriously try it out . adds new dimensions at the push of a buton . even on an S4 mk2 you can get so creative at the touch of one button. endless new possibilities for mixes . fast easy efficient - just need lots more tracks to be available in stem format for traktor . hours of fun ;-)
As a producer, is this software compatible with FL Studio as well? I may be wrong here, but it looked to me like Stems took the tracks from Ableton automatically, so will it do the same if I have 4 instruments in FL?
So where does the file export to? There's no option to choose where it goes. I've exported twice and can't find the file name, nor any stem.mp4 files. What on earth...?
PRODUCER QUESTION USING SOMEONE ELSES STEM TRACK: Can you import (not me as the producer, someone else's stem track that I bought on beatport) into a DAW then bounce the 4 sounds out of the track, then with the 4 sounds create more of a "remix" sound and then bounce back out of the DAW as a little remix type sound to use when your dj'ing? OR is that more of a copyright issue? * hope I explained myself properly*
If you live in the U.K and have a DJ licence, if you DJ publicly you're supposed to have one and they cost around £200, will Stems be allowed by law? I think I read a clause where DJs are not allowed to remix live!
when i play it (not in traktor)i miss the kick (drums) file.I meen i hear the ytrack without the kick. What am i doing wrong? In the creator i hear everything.
Obviously you need to get each stem through proper mastering chain to match the original stereo master. Stem Creator is still a good tool for the final edit and adding meta data.
Surely its better to Master your original Daw based tune with plug ins on the master Buss and then bounce that down and then bounce down each `stem that you want from that tune whilst it`s also going through the Master buss. No need to mess about afterwards ( well perhaps a tiny bit as a single track through the Masterbuss may behave slightly differently in isolation ) Simples
A massive step fwd for producers & DJ's. Can we export a 16 or 32 bar loop and have the stem file on seem-less loop playback? For playing minimal techno say?
Full scale = very loud? OMG! Ever heard of RMS or LUKFS? Summing up files at -3dBFS individually will be enough to hit 0 dBFS, won't it? Is that the mindset of DJs?
Hate this kind of shot 0:23 when he's looking/talking to other place... what's the functionality? It seems to be with a blind. This is a tutorial, don't need "visuals artistics fads", imo.
yes again 12min wasted on my life. Seriously why wouldn't anyone then just not stay on Ableton and use an APC? Cause it has to much faders to handle? On another note for those who wouldn't use Ableton. Why wouldn't you not simply use the loop and beat juggle function and hot cue in Traktor / remix decks?
