Great video! Any chance you can post part numbers or a link to the bolts you can't reuse on this job? Thanks!

Hi. Could you share this file (manual)? I want to read to see if I can change the chain myself . Thank you very much.

Sorry, I can not. The only way to get access to this program is being an employee at a dealership. Thanks for watching and good luck with the repair.

I recently attempted this job on my ‘14 Jetta se 1.8t and was stumped when it came time to remove the engine support. The engine mount was easy enough but the 3 triple square bolts on the engine support seemed impossible to access. I see you kinda sped through that part without showing here but what advice do you have? I was doing this in the garage so I just used a jack under the oil pan to lift/support the motor after removing the dog bone. Should I just jack the motor up more? Or would that damage the motor mount on the other side? Or can the 3 triple squares be accessed through the passenger side wheel well? It looks like you lifted the motor up quite a bit more than I did

So you do not need to jack the motor up too high to get to the two top bolts. I then I lower the motor down to get the single lower bolt. There are only 3 triole squares holding it to the block. Then to get the mount out of the way I raise the motor again until I can remove it. Thanks for watching I hope this helps!

It can, so the best thing to do is as soon as the crank pulley/ballancer is off, put the bolt into the crankshaft and snug it down. This will hold the sprocket in place for you while you repair the seal. Thanks for watching.

Was the screen intact on the cam bridge? Did you replace the cam bridge or knock out the screen?

The screen was blown out already. The retainer was still firmly in the cam bridge did not show any other signs of wear. Thanks for the comment and watching.

Hey boss I recently did this, after a little I noticed it would leak oil, I tracked it down the balancer and just replaced the crank seal but I also noticed that the actual pulley for the chains isn’t really centered with the cover hole so the pulley would be kind of offset I think, but it only leaks after a drive and it’s a noticeable amount, any advice?

Just so I understand, is it leaking from the back of the balance shaft where it drives the water pump?

Great video, but was the gen 3 1.8 TFSI not supposed to not have timing chain issues, or is it still the same old? ;)

I can not speak about what VW had planned. All I can say is its basically the exact same setup as the 2.0 tsi with subtle differences. With that said, when the car is not properly maintained it has the same failure points. Thanks for watching.

@@willpoweredgarage969 Thanks. I saw one for sale with 150.000km. Unfortunately the owner has driven around 20.000 km between oil changes, and the first engine air filter was changed at 148.000km... I think that little turbo must be worn!
