Im a regular guy that has been taking stuff apart all my life. I have gotten pretty good at it over the years and decided to try and help others with basic to extreme repairs. I do repairs most days and will film what I can and I will post it here for all to see.
I would not recommend an impact gun on this bolt. They are hard enough to get out without it stripping. You can use an open end wrench on the cam notches where the head bolts are. Usually a 17 or 18mm wrench. Best is to use the locking tool though since this bolt is very tight.
Thanks, great video. Very professional. Just a quick clarification, please - Rear Caliper Slide bolt is shown as 20 Ft. lbs in the notes and is stated 32 Ft lbs in the actual narrative installation (17:03). Please confirm the correct info if this is available.
Thanks! I understand in most cases the end links will be worn, but I replaced mine a few months ago and didn’t think to also change the sway bar bushings.
They are designed that why. If you buy a complete head from vw or Audi, it comes with the cams installed, and all you need to do is bolt the head down. Thanks for watching.
Hello, I was analyzed your YT channel and I saw that in your channel have some problems, that's why your channel is not growing. Your videos is not reaching to targeted people, not getting engagement. Do you want to know these problems? If you can give me permission I can tell here, . Where Can I tell? here or email? @@willpoweredgarage969 i know bdawg is going on a mini vacation to new jersey end of month and new york after that first week of august and emma might get to see bdawg chug 6 ounces of pickle juice etc in a uupcoming video like ive done with the one you all are doing
I never tried to do that. You might be able to assuming you lock all the timing to tdc before taking it apart. Its not very hard to drop the engine and makes working on it much easier when its out. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Question: What is the black sleeve for on the exhaust countershaft? I am thinking to just assist on the shaft installation. My block doesn't have a recess for the tab, the one that came out from the factory has the tab missing, the new sleeve has the tab. Does the sleeve have to be installed? It seems like it would just be rolling around in the block. Thanks for any input, I'm scared to install the tube at the moment and can't find any information on it.
The tube is there to minimize the oil being slung around. Think of it as an oil control. As far as I know all of them have the tab to position it properly. Thanks for watching
@willpoweredgarage969 awesome video, much appreciated. My block doesn't have the recess for the tab. Without the recess it seems like it will just spin with the countershaft.
If you can not lap the exhaust valve to seat properly you can cut the seat. It does require specialized tools though. You need to cut the seat and the valve so the length of the valve is correct. Might be worth taking it to a machine shop and have them service all the seats for you. Thanks for watching.
Hi mate we have a 2.0 golf r low oil pressure . The engines been rebuilt by engineering shop . But has low oil pressure the pressure valve on the bottom of the engine connected or not connected doesnt apear to do anything when looking at the pressure on the oil guage
I have seen this many times on rebuilt engines. VW and Audi use a color coded system for bearing clearances and these a critical. Most of the low oil pressure problems I have been seeing is related to the cam bridge and the intake camshaft phaser.
please tell me the part number or name of the VW sealant that you recommend. Your video is very helpful and I'm not sure if you ever added that number. Thank You!
Yes if the chain is broken or if the chain skipped and the cams are out of sync. What makes you go right to the timing chain though. I would be checking for spark, and fuel first on a crank no start.
Just wanted to ask what engine code you have? Or if your a4 is a b7 because I am about to start working on my TT and I wanted to make sure that this video would help me because there isn’t very many videos on the FSI
I do not recall the engine code this engine was. But I can tell you that the engines are very similar and the torque specs I show here and procedure should be the same.
Great video. But it's crazy that you did all that work meticulously, and the problem is still there 😮. This common problem doesn't seem to have a common solution 😒
It's true, I have done several of these now. Although many things can cause the issue I have found, most are caused by either the cam bridge or the intake camshaft. It really does take careful examination. Thanks for watching and the comment.
There is a special tool that I do not have. I was just very careful to keep the cams from springing back and making contact with the pistons. Good luck with your repair and thanks for watching.
Did you purchase an OEM or aftermarket camera? I was just at the dealership last Friday and was quoted $170 from their service department. Although I wasn't shocked and didn't drop onto the floor in a tizzy fit, what did you come up with price wise? It looks like a very basic replacement just like the water pump I replaced in my 2016 z71 colorado a year after buying it used in 2018. No other issues with it since until now with the reverse camera.
