The automatic transmission, in my opinion, is one of mankind's incredible inventions and now we have 10-speed automatic transmissions on trucks also! I mean, if you look at it, it's just genius!
@Little Timmy ooh that was funny, did your mom tell you that one? the only rent free is you living in your mom's house. i don't sit on utoob 24/7 like you do. i have things to do like a job, raising a family, taking care of odds and ends around the house.
Wow.. you won my subscription with such a detailed and educational video. Thank you so much for being an incredible teacher! I feel like at every stage I can pause the video or rewatch it slowly and I'll understand every step of the journey
Your video was awesome I learned so much. And thanks to you I will call tomorrow to see if they have the booklet for my bmw and they place you mentioned for parts. You make it look so easy. Thanks so much
Well a transmission on my car is almost 3000. Parts for a rebuild are 260. You decide what matters most. Labor is where it will hit you most. My old Kia needed an engine that was about 2.3k but to have the mechanic install it, it would have been $12,000, and I owed 16,000 on it.
I don't know if I will get any answers here but I will try. I have a 2004 toyota corolla with transmission issues. When the car is going slow and when applying the brakes, there is a clicking noise. I had a garage show me where the noise was coming from while the car was on a lift and it was definitely the transmission and I could hear the clicking noise. Unfortunately, that didn't tell me what the actual problem was. I don't know if there might be a worn out or damaged bearing or something. I wanted to mention this here on this video posting in hopes of someone being able to have an idea of what the issue could be. It's an automatic transmission before I forget to mention this.
i just retired last year. i was a professional transmission rebuilder 45 years. i can make a 350 ring the drive shaft off "so to speak" without any shift kit. i have built literally many hundreds of them ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
What’s the best repair manuals I can get on rebuilding transmissions. Mainly 4l60e since I have 2 and don’t want to buy a 4l80e. I’d rather build what I have than buy something better. Thanks.
Man I miss Lou, Of all the “Powerblock hosts He and Stacey David were on a Higher Level. Stacey has Gears but I haven’t seen Lou since “Carfix” changed hosts.
Yes! That's why he's teaching you this. So you can find one at a junkyard for next to nothing and rebuild it. I've done it with junkyard engines and it turned out amazing.
Out of curiosity, why not rebuild the one you already have that’s failing? Wouldn’t that be less of a hassle than bringing home a whole other unit? Just wondering about that is all.
I have a mitsubishi endeavor 2004 and a mechanic is doing a transmission rebuild - It needs 2 wave springs to complete the rebuild and its been the hardest part to acquire I can't find it in any rebuild kits online for my car and the dealerships here only will replace the transmission no one sells the parts. It's been a pain.
My transmission is going out as they say. So I definitely want to shock em.with some questions before they rebuild it. I'm a woman so you know how ppl like to play games so I always like to brush up on my knowledge on certain things I don't know. I have a shift bucking issue.
ALWAYS soak your new clutches! Never assemble them dry! Soak in trans fluid for at least an hour. And always replace the pump. They're cheap. Also didn't see you replace any bushings in this unit either. You guys should know better!
@@nevinkuser9892 It's not the same. Clutches need to be submerged in trans fluid before installing. And dry parts of the clutch that spin against a steel will remain dry, and burn out fast. Besides, there is plenty of time for them to soak while you are assembling the transmission. I am a Mechanic (35+yrs), and I have been rebuilding engines since I was 7, and automatics since I was 12. I have learned from some of the best, and learned on my own.
Lou's not too bad, but he could learn a lot from Precision Transmission! Their videos have a lot more information and more updated parts and tips for today's generation who want to build these types of transmissions.
I love all the comments acting like this is brand new when you can see the de-interlacing every five seconds! This was broadcast over analogue TV, guys!
There's plenty of old decrepit cars lying around that the body is destroyed but transmission is most likely still rebuildable. All the parts inside the transmission have been sheltered from the weather so it ain't going to make a difference. Only the outside will be dirty but you can scrub brush it in 3 minutes.
@@nevinkuser9892 not any that I know of around here that are available. Not everyone can haul a junk car & have room to part it out and keep everything laying around like that.
