There is a built-in virtual camera in OBS on all platforms now. You just turn it on in tools and select it as your camera in zoom

Thank you so much for your help! As a very-capable tech person, I was pulling my hair out trying to get this to work with Microsoft Teams. You response in the earlier comment about running the xcode was exactly what I needed. I'm a HS music teacher and using OBS to show 2 cameras while playing guitar is perfect for my students to see the fretboard and sound hole for strumming!

Michael, people like you are godsend! Searching all over for help with this, so thanks for taking the time and effort to make this. I did the entire setup for my gf on her brand new 2020 MacBook Air and it all seems to work great except I'm getting an annoying echo that I just can't seem to make go away. It happens once OBS is set up with the NDI Video Monitor and Virtual Input, before Zoom is even connected. I've tried almost everything, including using Apple AirPods and wired EarPods. Looked all over the web for answers. Hoping you can help.

Thanks so much. With all these downloads and steps, I was not expecting it to work, but with the latest zoom where they re-enabled virtual camera, there was one fewer step and this worked! I will be looking forward to giving my classes a more smooth experience now that I can put multiple views in the same window instead of relying on just zooms switching between screen shares and webcam.

With Zoom 5.8.0 and a Mac using a generic Video capture HDMI to USB, I had to choose the USB 3.0 input inside Zoom as camera input. None of the NDI inputs within Zoom would work -- but USB 3.0 input did! What a process. But finally got it to work. Thank you!

THANK YOU. This process helped me playback pre-recorded video with no stutter for a zoom conference. I did have to add a 60ms delay to the audio but OBS makes that easy. FYI this worked with the latest version of Zoom for me Version 5.1.0 on a mac without having to install a legacy version.

Ok Michael, I have just finished watching this video. I have been at this for days by various research before finding you, and I've been more confused by my research, until you. AND I'm supposed to teach in 3 days and terrified of not being ready even though I've already spent 3 days on this. So I've watched this video and now I'm about to attempt this. @@MichaelFeyrerJr I'm getting delays in audio, when I play back the zoom recording. I've tried all the delay settings for both audio & camera. But the delay isn't constant! Have you had this problem? I'm using AirPods as the microphone into OBS (then obs into NDI into Zoom...same as in your video).

Thanks Michael…I was looking for a way to transmit OBS to Mac programs like Zoom which use a webcam. The benefit of using OBS is the ability to use a variety of scenes, transitions, special effects and filters. The workaround you provide also works with Skype and Google Meet video conferencing-and CamTwist and Snap Camera for additional video streaming features. Moreover, you can use the high resolution camera on an iPhone via the True Visage (free on App Store) to convey your iPhone to Zoom, Skype, Meet, and so on. Additional note: on my system I did not need to run the NDI Video Monitor. The NDI Virtual Input was all that I needed. Nor did I see any output to my NDI Video Monitor when I ran it.

I've watched and subscribed to your videos - they are very helpful. I have a question: on my video recordings there is no audio. I have imported them into Adobe Premiere and still no audio. I am recording video podcasts with guests that will be streamed. I am producing for the podcast, so my video and audio aren't on during the recordings, but I do need to be able to converse before and after recording. I am also going through my audio interface (Apogee Quartet), so I have included this in the aggregate device setup for output - does this affect anything or should I be just going through headphones? I am on a MAC, saving the files to FLV format. I have watched multiple of your tutorials, and have set up the OBS, Zoom, NDI virtual input, and NDI video monitor according to your videos. Any help with the audio missing on my recordings is appreciated!

works great thanks! Only question I have is how to handle monitoring? I'm using a universal audio interface, and wearing in-ear monitors. Only way I've figured out to hear the other party speaking is to run it through my mac laptop's built-in speakers. Because I don't want the audio running back into OBS and creating a delay/feedback loop. When I go to audio settings in Zoom, it lets me assign where the sound is coming out, but not the input number. Any ideas?

Hi Michael thanks for the great video. I previously tried and had a lot of problems. I got it to work with Epoch Cam and even was able to stream to Facebook. However I had problems setting up to just use Zoom and OBS. I liked on Tools dropdown in OBS but did not see the NDI option. I am thinking I need to uninstall everything and start over after seeing your video. I am hoping that this will let me use Zoom and OBS without all that resizing screen stuff to use Zoom. I hope this doesn't sound too confusing.

I installed both, the NDI-Runtime and the NDI package for mac but when I click on "Tools" on the OBS software, I don't see the option NDI Output settings. Don't know what else to try. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Excellent very helpful video. many thanks, I had been doing everything for my UK woodturning club via screen share until now cos of the Mac /Zoom problem. I followed your set up advice with Zoom 5.0.4 and it all worked fine. Awesome!! But I initially did not get any sound when I selected NDI Audio as the mic. I then realised that of course I needed to activate a working mic source in OBS as that now controls the feeds... and the mic sound then worked fine. Just a tip for any other newbie here! Q. Should I set ZoomAudio device as the monitoring device in the Zoom audio settings? Or should I select my headphones there? The Zoom audio Speaker settings also provides control over this and I'm not sure which is best avoid any conflicts or lag etc? Any help much appreciated. Subscribed and liked!

Great tutorial Michael. I followed all the steps but I cannot get audio to work with NDI Audio selected in Zoom. I do not see audio signal when NDI Audio is selected. However, if I select iMac Microphone, I do get the signal. I am thinking I am missing one simple step. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Michael! This is great stuff. I’m wanting to you this for a weekly live broadcast. However, ZOOM seems to be running very slow, and skips and lags after a while of running. I’m running it off of a 2011 MacBook Pro...so it might just be my laptop. But didn’t know if you had any info on how I can get rid of the lag. Also, when I use this NDI setup, there is a weird echo of audio that happens. It sounds like massive reverb. Any help on that too?

The echo is due to something else plating the audio, either your speakers feeding back into your microphone or the stream playing in a browser and being fed back in. Be sure to mute all sources of audio that you don't want the stream to hear and that should solve the echo. A 2011 macbook pro may not have the juice to do what you want to do unfortunately.

Absolutely exceptional video, Michael. I'm a educator also. I had to stop after installing all the plugins and drivers though. I'm using the latest version of Zoom, and can't delete it (university restrictions), so couldn't go any further! I supervise ten grad instructors who have to use the university subscription of Zoom on campus, which is where I teach from. I'm trying to work on ways to make their teaching online more effective. Really would have loved to use OBS with Zoom, but guess it's not to be. This would serve a half dozen college leve piano courses (about 400 music majors) which requires two cameras--one over the keyboard and the other a side view of the piano. Also need the screen view in Zoom for editing music scores. Maybe Zoom will figure out what we need and make it possible some day. Anyway, thanks--A+ instruction! I too am a college professor and in music too. This is a great video although I haven’t set it up yet. I’m excited to try this when I get home. Pat B, I got an ATEM Mini from Blackmagic and it has been incredible. I have two cameras on my 7’ grand and my iPad hooked up for writing on manuscript paper or theory assignments. I have a 4th camera on me looking at the students. It’s actually almost like teaching live because I can switch vies with a button. It also works in Zoom because it shows up like any other webcam.

Hey! This is great .The biggest issues for zoom from any broadcast software seems to be audio. So anything I play in my OBS...will feed into my zoom?? Where do I hear this if the audio is sending out to zoom? Do I just listen in zoom? What about preview?

Thanks for the tutorial Michael! I'm hoping you can help me out. I followed every step of your tutorial and I can get the NDI video feed into my zoom but for some reason the feed looks like it came from an old 3D movie. There is a clear definition between the warm (red) colors and the cool (blue) colors. Any advice? I am running this off of a 2015 macbook pro.

You can use a virtual camera in the latest version of zoom on a mac by running the following in terminal: codesign --remove-signature /Applications/zoom.us.app Thanks for this video, i was outputing my obs to a second monitor and grabbing that in zoom screenshare.
