Thank you so much. I am almost 75 (Aug 13), and this is the first time I am doing my own taxes. I have always had a third party doing it for me. Now, I have so much less to deduct and am retired that it seemed silly to pay someone else to do it. It was very easy to do and I thank you again for walking me through the process. Note : I subscribed to your channel because I bet you can teach me more about finances.

I just subscribed! I was sooooo extremely overwhelmed as a new independent contracted property inspector, who didn't file for the prior 2 years because I was overwhelmed to learn how. I Living in New York City with the COVID-19 killing between 400 something and our worst day 700 something, I have been even stressed even more so, but I have to get it done this year because COVID has locked us out of the work I was earning a living from. I made a playlist with about 3 of your videos and over 100 other videos. Too stressed to stay awake and pay direct attention, I decided to take a light nap and listen to the playlist in my sleep for the past 2 days, waking up every time that I heard answers to my questions or answers that applied to me. When I woke this last time it was mostly, all your videos (scattered in my list over the course of the 2day) that answered everything quickly and clearly. I woke up just now when you said the FreeTaxUSA lets you start with whatever year you need to start with. My final question answered! Can I tell you I love you for this? Thank you for taking the time to provide content people desperately need in these times. People are stressed about finances and all stress is lowering our immune systems. Relieving stress is a very important work in these times. I wanted to get my taxes done before my birthday which is a few days from now. So THANK YOU @Business Finance Coach ! So much weight of my chess. I just wanted you to know that your content was so clear it stood out even in my sleep above 100s of videos about taxes. I know how important feedback is for the creator. Doing my taxes now!
You are totally awesome. Just finished my e-file with freetaxusa. Was shocked all the forms came out looking identical to the forms i had to fill out by hand back in Feb. Was super easy- a kid could have done my taxes. Didn't have to spend days researching to make sure blocks were filled out correctly like when doing them by hand. Program filled in blocks for me without worrying if blocks were filled in correctly. Us old timers hate change, but i wish i would have started doing efile a decade ago-would have saved me tons of time. Thanks again.
I am not even old enough to pay taxes, but lately I've been stressed out because I've been thinking about my future. I started crying because I couldn't understand why life seems so complicated in the eyes of a teenager. It's because of that stress I haven't been able to sleep at all, and I've been awake for the past 3 days barely getting 2 hours of sleep a day. I watched this video and now I feel that I better understand how to do taxes and so much of my stress just dissipated off my shoulders. I am still stressing over other aspects of my future, but at least I can fall asleep knowing I can worry about 1 less thing that worries me. Thank you, for helping me understand. Sincerely, ~Taylor
I love your videos! You are a GREAT teacher. I am a teacher, at a community college, and you are teaching me. I admire great teachers and believe me you are one. Thank you!
You clicked single and don't have a ring on. We have that in common. 😉 Thank you very much, I really appreciate you putting this content out there. It's really not that difficult to process one's own taxes.
Thank you so very much. I just finished doing my taxes using the software you recommended. You should have more subscribers. I hope your channel keeps growing and I'm definitely a subscriber.👍
Thank you so very much. I just finished doing my taxes to catch up the deadline. I tried it by myself this year in July by Turbo, but could not understand it well, so I extended to Oct. This time I did it. So much easier. I need to learn more about filing tax issue, so does my daughter. I subscribed your channel. Well done.
Well done. I decided to do my own taxes this coming year. This video is giving me more confident to do it. do you have a video how to file taxes for independent contractor? if you do please share it, thanks in advance. and keep the good work.
I'm 18 I earned income (~$5k) summer 2020. Is it more beneficial: I file taxes individually or is it possible to file together with my mom? I am listed as a dependent on her 2019 tax return
Hello, Can I also file my 2018 form. I'm of low income and learned that both 2019 and 2018 filings are required to qualify for the stimulus check. Please advise.
Hi, I didnt see an email contact for you. I had a question. So in the end, your last comment was not to file state before federal, so happens when you do do that?
Love your tutorial. Finally got a hold of IRS today after 100's of attempts. Mailed my 1040 taxes in Feb. still no return. They said do to covid don't know when they will get to process. Recommended e-filing. I have been watching a number of your videos and don't see in any of them were you enter your routing and checking account number. I'm sure if I log into Freetaxusa i would find it. Does make me hesitant to log in though.
Hi! First off, great tutorial! I have been using FreeTaxUSA for a a few years now. However, I had an issue for 2018 year. I needed to go on a payment plan because I owed money for this year. But I noticed my IRS payments were not being deducted from my checking account. I found out months later it was because I hadn’t signed my tax form. So I went in and e-signed and my payments began being deducted. I recently did my 2019 taxes on FreeTaxUSA and I don’t see where I e-sign. I swear that’s what I had to do and where I went wrong for 2019 filing. Am I crazy? Isn’t there a place where you have to e-sign? It says my returns were accepted by the IRS but that’s what it said for 2018 and it turned out I “forgot to e-sign”. Any help is appreciated!
hey kelly, did you figure it out? i am about to log on and try this site for the first time but dont want to waste my time if that is going to be an issue....
Happy New Year! I'm getting ready to put together 2020 receipts for classroom expenses. I'll be doing our taxes for the first time this year. Do you know how much Educator's deductions are? Also, I live in Alaska. So when I come to the end of the Federal Tax, do I stop there because Alaska does not have state tax?
Hello, I love your video. So helpful. I am have a question regarding Schedule K-1. There are two questions in FreeTaxUSA that has threw me for a loop. The fist it asked Is this a foreign partnership? I am not sure is it asking if I am a foreign or if the company (Rhino Hind LLC). The second is Did you materially participate in this partnership's trade or business activities?. I answer no for both but its only a guess. Can you assist. I am an American and I belive Rhino Hind is a US company (sad hun. I should know this). Regarding me materially participate in the partnership, I simply don't understand what they are asking for. I only invested a small amount to acquire shares. Nothing else. Please help. Thanks.
QUESTION: MY BANK FORGAVE A DEBT OF AROUND $650 THIS YEAR IN JANUARY AND TOLD ME TO REPORT TO IRS. SO DO IS THAT 650 GOING IN MY INCOME OF 2019? OR ANY INCOME AFTER 2019 DEC 31 WILL COUNT AS 2020 INCOME, HENCE PLUGGING THE VALUE INTO NEXT YEAR TAX FILINGS
Thanks for this very helpful video! An excellent introduction. I have one question-you were saying that we can go back and make changes. Does that mean any changes and at what point in the process does it become too late? Thanks.
Only after you submit your return to the IRS, otherwise called "E-file" and within 48 hours you'll be notified if it's ACCEPTED or REJECTED. As long as it's accepted, you can't make any more changes. The STAT and FILE tabs are last on the right side -- I go over them a little bit at the end, 15:53 You use the tabs along the top to move around - and you can use bookmarks (to bookmark any questions you want to come back too) -- check out 2:05 where I cover this
Thankyou! That was great info. For married filing jointly how does the total tax refund get divided between the filer and spouse ? Is the tax refund returned back as a whole ?
You enter all of your forms, regardless of how many you have... just follow the instructions in this video! When it asks if you have a W-2 say YES. Enter 1 and when you are done, you can select to "Add another W-2" ... easy peasy
Hi,i am new business owner with LLC and i would like to file my own business tax and personal all alone; is this information good for filing business taxes too please? Because I'm paying Mazuma for the quarterly bookkeeping and business taxes,i just want to reduce my bills and learn a little on my own how.to do those important things. Thank you.
So I did this about a month ago and have been very very nervous about mailing the papers in. These are my 2018 taxes and I had to file because I’ll be starting school in January. Do I just mail these papers in or is there more steps after everything is printed? I’m hoping to mail everything when I wake up lol.
It wasn’t clear to me, but I filed my 2018 taxes with Freetaxusa & received an email the day after saying “thanks for filing, click link to file 2019 taxes”.. My question is does this email mean that my 2018 taxes were sent to IRS???? I don’t recall signing & dating.. Just curious
You either added audit insurance or you are doing a past year return. They have never charged for federal returns for the current year and they don't use dark practices to encourage when they offer the audit insurance (which also comes with the ability to ask questions and a few other things).... I cover this in the first minute of the video
Hi, I have a question. My husband lives in Canada, and I live in the US. We are student in different countries and live separately for a while. He hasn’t income here. Do I need to select Married filing separately or jointly?
Hi, I love your videos. I have question. My husband, and I purchased a home in Arizona around December 2019. The taxes on the house that we pay monthly (started February 2020) are Incorporated into our monthly payment schedule which is up to date. Do we still need to mentioned or list something about that when filling our 2019? Thank you.
This was very helpful. Thank you. I have a question though. Does this work for non-resident aliens as well? I am asking because the tax return the form changes to 1040 NR.
Obviously, I can't e-file a fake return and I tell you how to keep going to file.. also all states are different and some people don't even have states, but again I show you how where the state tab is and when you'll continue there... but after this entire video didn't you notice how EASY it is?!?

My sister passed away December 2019 and left me 2 life insurance policies at $5000 each through a Legacy account, by check book. I haven't used it at all. What would this be filed under?
Thank you for the video. I am curious whether this website is also available for non-residents (international students staying in US with F1 Visa) as well.
Enjoyed you video; I am retired and I have had a tax preparer doing my taxes for the last 5 years; and I have moved and haven't found a new tax preparer that would be reasonable price wise and I saw your videos. I didn't see anywhere that it asked if a person is retired; I asked this because my understanding retired people don't pay Federal taxes under a certain amount earned, they only pay into social security. I do earn income by contract work to supplement my income. Some of the earnings are 1099 and some are contract payments. Do you have a video that I could watch that would pertain to retired people who are earning an income? Also, the tax prepayer has been helping me out by somehow pulling in losses that I had in the past year to lower my tax payments. I do I continue that if I am a new filer?
You don't report that you are retired on your taxes because that doesn't effect your taxes. There is an "occupation" question at the start, so you can say it there if you like. The income thresholds apply to everyone the same, based on filing status. You do get a bonus standard deduction if you are over 65, but that's based on your birthday. If you still have carry over losses, then yes, you should enter those. You need to look closely at your forms from last year (passive activity loss forms, and others depending on the type of loss). You enter a "loss" because you had an NOL or a capital loss carry over or some other deduction/loss that was not allowed in one year and so you are able to carry it over to the next year. Keep in mind - your old tax pro probably works online these days! :)
*pipetechie* helped files up my tax refund Tho it was a bit difficult for But after someone recommended him to me He finished everything for me successfully I’m so grateful 🙏
