Kaiya Hanepen is back (but on RU-vid this time!) to be her magical awesome self and explore the differences between the three major "easy step in" snowboard bindings available at Sports Basement this year: Nidecker's Supermatics, Flow's speed-entry bindings and Burton's Step-On system.

Had the flows. The pin popped out of the back lever. Nearly caused an accident. Switched to Burton. Love em. Super responsive.

1 month nidecker owner. They are so much more universal and versatile than any of the competition: easy to get in and out, can do this with snow in the bindings - they just work, in deep powder or knees down - just unstrap the classic way. Love them )

I have the flow. For what I can attest to is that they are super nice. Easy to get in and out of with the lock on the high back. Not sure about trusting the Burton step on. No strap. As a bigger guy it's awesome to not have to bend down all the way to lock in and unlock. If you hate bending all the way down to do that. Get a pair of Flow's you'll be glad you did. I believe they're superior to the Nidecker as well. Won't tear your boots up and easier functionality. Hope this helps some of you.

I would add thei Clicker X HB to the mix as well. I haven't tried the new ones but I rode the original Clickers for 19 years and loved them.

I've been riding my Clicker for 20+ years, amazingly solid, and light. I don't use the HB version, as a result, by board has a really thin profile, without all that binding stuff on it.

@@sn0kitei wish i could still ride the old ones but it's next to impossible to find used size 13 boots. The bindings I had were mint condition when I gifted them. My 19 year old boots are what needed replacing. I'm trying the Supermatics this year.
@sn0kite
@sn0kite 5 месяцев назад
@@WC3isBetterThanReforgedyes, the boots are hard to find. I did find a brand new pair (size 9) about 4 years ago on e-Bay, seems like there was a re-release of the tech around then. It's still amazing to me that people talk about 200 plates, and 500 bindings. My clicker bindings were $20 / pair, and boots were $50 (~2019)

Just started using nideckers. Once they were adjusted just right(looser than your normal binding) they worked great at the resort. In powder they had issues locking if you got snow under the heel or on your boot or if the spot where the pin slides gets icy they won't lock. So great for average resort riding, not so great for powder. But worse case you just strap em like a normal binding

I bought into flow last season with Fuse carbons hybrid strap. it was the set and forget feature i wanted giving more comfort. I was defiantly a strap it down tight guy for 25 years and needed to crack the habit. Flows work well and are comfortable although the highback is very stiff so toe to heel response is amazing but had more lateral flex that i was used too. Sticking with the flows again this season as I think the Supermatics and Clews need more development. Id like to see more damping in the Clews and a smaller contact baseplate. The concept looks great but too early in their development for me to commit to buying them. could be amazing in a few years Supermatics look great, close to flows with the amazing straps but no one talks about the roller on the highback destroying the back of your boots.. also they cant be cracked down if you want to get out quickly. ill wait for v3 Burton step ons need tested for me.. i hear that are super responsive. hopefully ill get to try soon.

First moment with step on was magic: light, hyper responsive ( i ride hard with custom X )… i m totally in love of these bidings and specialy in powder… best choice ever ( sorry for the language, i’m french 😂 )

Had flow flit me bindings, they were quick but had problems taking off the latch would be so tight that it needed lots of strength if you had it set to lean forward. Also snow build underneath caised issies sometimes. The Nidecker superlative are way better just got a pair and they are more responsive and speedways to put in with no hands needed to latch and easy to take of with a push of a switch. Go for nidecker forget Burton they don’t have top straps for that foot rotation translation to bindings they are all edge rotation based.

The NiDecker sucks the release lever gets stuck after her a few runs in the snow and I always have to end up using them like normal bindings iMessage the company and they said I have to have my heel pressed all the way back, but that still doesn’t solve my problem completely, and I still often times find myself using them as normal bindings instead of how they were ment

If you have plantar fasciitis, don't get bindings that cover the top of your feet. They'll force the arch of your feet to flatten which is excruciatingly painful.

I have the Burton StepOn bindings and it’s not as easy as it looks. If there’s any snow on the pad, the boots will have a very hard time clicking. I put my entire 170 lbs on it and it won’t make that 3rd click.
@kaskar
@kaskar 5 месяцев назад
Yes. If you can’t be bothered to sweeping your hand through the footbed you will have that issue. Just like a bunch of snow under your foot isn’t a heap Of joy in a regular binding And, there’s only two clicks so no wonder you have a hard time getting a third

Rear entry is not step in. Also, one of the worst flaws of rear entry is that it can destroy your boot, because when you strap out, the highback pulls the sole from the boot. Step on are crap. Let alone the split version. Forget about hiking with those boots, and good luck with trying to use crampons for those boots. Of course, I bet they'll launch step on crampons too 😂. Supermatic is the way so far. You can use the boot that you want without plastic BS thingies that can deteriorate and be dangerous, and you can use them as regular straps bindings if you want. The compatibility issue alone is enough for me. And don't even try that sht of "oh, but there are other brands that are making step on boots too!". Yeah... no fck that sht.

Given that Nidecker own Flow I have to say the Supermatics make the Flow system look a little primitive - and yes I know the system works well and tons of riders love the bindings. Hopefully Nidecker won't discontinue Flow and continue to develop it for the fans of that system.
@bet

@@Daz555Daz just tried my out at mammoth today. Once your clicked in its just like a traditional binding. Loved it. There’s definitely some things to get used to but worth the trade off. 2 things off the bat is if you pants get cover the high back you won’t be able to get out because it won’t flip back, and second, the placement of the release lever makes getting off the chair lift weird because you can’t put ur but snug next to the binding. Other than that it’s solid and worth the money.
