That's not necessarily true. Kd was a game changer . He could've went anywhere . Imagine he joined lebron. Warriors would not have won during that time
Yea KD might have been ringless, but Steph might have only had one ring. They brought in KD because the Cavs showed they were better with a healthy Kyrie and Kevin Love.
Skip pissin me right now lol he keep sayin courtesy of this guy that guy basketball a team sport sometimes you gotta get help he keep implying he not great bc he got Kd he had one before him lol kd needed them just as much as they needed him
Skip is a hypocrite. When Kevin Durant lost to this year's Celtics it's "He needed help" but when Steph went against the Raptors while being short handed, it's all of his fault? Skip is the worst sports analyst and very disrespectful. I don't blame Charles Barkley for wanting to fight him
How we gonna take away the blown 3-1 lead he won his next two with kd he has to win this to prove himself jus like Kevin Durant his to prove he can win without him
His legacy is not at stake this is crazy. Best shooter ever 2 mvp 3 rings 6 finals trips. He should be at least in everyone top 15 players all time his legacy is pretty set can only go up
Skip has to know his arguments against Curry are insane. Discounting 10 years of play and only looking at 3 games where he shot 9 for 27 from 3 doesn't ruin the legacy of a 3 time champ and 2 time MVP
It does effect his legacy because he didn’t win a finals mvp the year before. He couldn’t win a finals mvp when going up against Lebron who had his two best players injured, that’s embarrassing. Then durfraud carried him, now he has to prove he can win a finals mvp.
Chokes in the biggest moments. Yea hes great and the best shooter. In the big moments though he has not shown up at crunch time to close the deal. Skip is obviously trolling a little further but he does have a point. 0 Finals mvps and 3 championships is not indictive of an all time great winner.
Although I don't agree on everything Skip said, but he has a point about Steph really not having a legit championship ring. 1st ring, winning versus LBJ without Love and Kyrie. Basically a gift. 2nd and 3rd ring, we all know what that is. So to me, this series vs Celtics is his real test competing vs a team that is full roster and without any KD in his team. It's Steph's chance to prove he can do it as the lead star and vs a full team.
Steph has nothing to prove anymore. Skip's opinion will never be in favor of Steph. Even if he wins the title and FMVP , he will say he didn't deserve it or didn't play anybody. There's no winning with this guy. He knows the star is still rising on Curry so he needs some kind of blemish to harp on..
I mean thats not true. Steph can still ascend to greater heights if he wins more chips and adds a finals MVP to his resume. But this talk of how his legacy is at steak is media BS lol. Steph IS the greatest shooter ever. Steph IS the gamechanger that changed the landscape of the NBA. Steph's legacy wont get fked bcz of losing in the finals, his legacy just wont be as vibrant. This talk like his entire career is at risk is just BS.
Yeap. Skip was one of the biggest steph supporters pre-2016 finals. Even though Steph was bad in the 2016 finals, he was compromised with the MCL and ankle sprains. Even Cleveland knew it, hence why they built their defensive schemes around Steph and using those injuries to their advantage.
Skip at 13:19 - "I only care about the finals, not the conference finals" Skip at 15:15 - "He shot 33% against the Grizzlies and Klay played better in game five against the Mavs. Legacy on the line." Not even two minutes, just retire already.
@@latima123ify he shooting 39.3 % 3 pts and 53.2 % field goal in NBA playoff overall this coming from basketball reference. 92% from free throw with 12 attempt per game averaging
@@SayWhat336 FMVP doesnt really matter much to anyone. Its a pointless award. I honestly think Steph would rather Klay win it this year rather than himself.
Yeah but to win again would really cement him as a top 10 all time. Basically getting rings with 3 different Warriors teams. It would erase any doubt that without KD he wouldn’t have won again.
@@lildreginobilli8932 😂😂 “Deserve”..? That’s historically & literally inaccurate. In competitive sports you “deserve” whatever your performance affords. He lost in ‘15 & led ALL TEAMS in ALL categories. But they LOST. He played his heart out but dis is a TEAM game. Deserve..? Krazy term to use
Skip contradicts himself because he’s unable to accept the fact that every team that plays the warriors puts all of their defensive emphasis on Steph, making it harder for him to score than any other player in history… yet he still does it
if dillon brooks hadn’t gotten suspended if ja morant didn’t get hurt if jimmy butler had played better games 4 and 5 if tyler herro hadn’t gotten hurt my finals pick would’ve been correct skip prolly thinking
@@omarthescriblomale8279 💀😭😭😭😭 warriors finna win again. Ja my fav player but he was inconsistent af n if we being honest the grizzlies shouldn’t have got past Minnesota omm 🤷🏽♂️
@@omarthescriblomale8279 They lost at GSW by 30 with a healthy Ja having a great game because they gave up 142. Then the next game they hold GSW to under 40 first half points because they are way better defensively and have way better ball movement when Ja doesn’t play. I’m not saying they are better without him but to say they would’ve won the series is a bit of a stretch IMO
Hopefully Curry will not overdo this. Remember when he was expected to surpass Ray Allen, he jacked up more contested threes which cost Warriors some losses. Steph could easily get this FMVP award (if they win) as long as he plays on the system. When he was drafted and on his first few seasons, nobody expected him to get an MVP, let alone be on the conversation of top 10 of all-time. He just needs to play it right (and also the team). He has the experience. I hope he also has the right mindset this Finals.
It’s obvious that during the play offs the greatest players would have more trouble, because now there going to be top priority for the opposing teams defense.
@@allenanderson6430 they both did and so did everyone else who you’re gonna double and leave open Klay or steph or KD lol it was very unfair for the league
Even if Steph wins a Finals MVP, Skip and Steph’s detractors will just say it was a “pity” MVP or that he didn’t deserve it like they just did a few days ago when Steph won that new conference finals MVP trophy.
Skip sounds so ignorant with his what if’s, he always falls back to Memphis, what if Memphis was healthy, what if Memphis didn’t get hurt…. What ifs don’t exist bro. Take some notes from Shanon
I love how Skip mentions Klay shoots better than Curry from three in the playoffs but ignores the fact that Curry is mostly shooting difficult off dribble threes. Klay doesn't even dribble and gets clean catch and shoot looks.
As a Boston sports fan I rarely find myself in agreement with Shannon since he usually comes out against my teams but here he's 100% right. Steph Curry is a phenom with unprecedented individual numbers and team success. He is absolutely a proven commodity and will be remembered in this generation of basketball at the same level as Lebron due to his contributions to gameplay, culture, and his own personal accolades. As Shannon said, anything henceforth is merely icing on the cake. A Finals MVP would be the cherry on top. Honestly, the stakes are pretty low for both teams. The Celtics are young and have a first-year coach. The Warriors have already climbed the highest mountain multiple times. If either team wins, it would of course be a significant achievement but if either were to lose, I do not believe it would shatter any narratives.
I don’t understand why analytics (and those who buy into it) insist that to be you can not have a bad game and that the sport is entirely individual. Every player in the history of sports plays bad. Against the raptors Steph was literally getting triple teamed at points forcing him to throw up contested shots and he scored 48 in one of the games. The man is so dangerous it’s the only way you can stop him. He doesn’t need it he’s a fantastic player and he’s the reason the team succeeds in the first place. This warriors dynasty begins and ends with him and it’s ridiculous that people will place such importance on awards when the eye test says that the man is an all time great.
It's funny how people bring up MJ record without Scottie, skip says "well he won scoring titles, MVPs, DPOY, slam dunk champion" but he doesn't give Steph the same energy
Skip be like: did u see that guy wore white socks and drank blue gatorade on a tuesday night game? Thats horrendously bad, a stain on your legacy, idk how you ever recover from that
I believe the reason Stephen Curry does so we'll is that he doesn't really focus on legacy or number of wins or titles, or number of MVP's or finals MVP. He simply focuses on the here and now & what possibilities are achievable at the moment. He & Klay never take their talent for granted.
@@forzaacmilan36 Agreed, someone even reported that Steph was crying on Draymon Green after game 3 in 2018 because his performance in that game wasn't good enough in comparison to KD to win Finals MVP and the crazy thing is KD wanted him to win Finals MVP however I would agree with Shannon that he has nothing to prove in terms of legacy because his legacy is the greatest shooter of all time and one of the most impactful players in the game all time
16:40 - Skip is gone completely insane. Bird is Top 10 all time and failed to perform in a the 1981 Finals. Wilt has never managed to uphold his stats in the playoffs and only has 2 rings. Isn’t he Top 10 all time? This argument is such a joke.
I think this finals is it extremely important to Steph‘s legacy. I don’t think it’s necessarily going to take anything away from his legacy if they lose. But I think if he wins he can legitimately be argued a top 10 player of all time.
@@Hi-cq2hm good question. As of now it’s 1 Mj 2 Lebron 3Kareem 4 Wilt 5 Kobe 6 Magic 7 Bird 8 Shaq 9 Russel 10 Duncan Then it goes Hakeem, Durant, and then Steph and Oscar Robertson are a toss up RN. However is Steph wins this year I’m gonna have to do some rearranging…
Skip always says Jordan never had a bad series, but in the 1995 Playoffs versus the Miami Heat, Jordan shot 15/31 (48%) in Game 1, 4/15 (27%) in Game 2, 9/35 (26%) in Game 4, and 11/31 (36%) in Game 5. He shot 38% in that series, was absolutely horrendous, and melted down in a major way - but you won’t hear anything about it because the rest of his team played well and they won the series. MJ was not perfect by any means. The man shot 41% for an entire playoff-run in 1986-1987, too, and got bounced in the first round. The myths of him being flawless, never melting down, winning all of the time, and making every shot is revisionist history.
Bro I appreciate the facts. But stating these things about Jordan is like telling women to put their feelings aside and look at the facts. The Jordan lovers don’t care. Just like the fact that after he retired to play baseball Scottie took the team to the playoffs and their record was a one game difference without Jordan. But they never say that he only counted for one game that’s how good his team was.
@@dragonnuma9965 Exactly, bro. The truth doesn’t fall on deaf ears: it goes in and out of obsessively delusional minds. I don’t know why I ever argue with the MJ worshippers. They’re convinced that the man played 6 years, won a chip every time, and averaged 50 in every playoff-run. 😂
i think it’s crazy how he’s talking about something that happened 6 years ago. as if players don’t grow, skip really thinks that steph is the same player from the 2016 finals and that’s insane, especially after seeing what he did in the games he was alone in the 2019 finals.
Tatum and the celtics core players legacy is way more in question, bc currently they have NONE. Unlike curry who has records, accolades, awards, and rings.
@@michaeloryan9395 maybe. However steph curry is the most important player on the warriors. He will be guarded like nobody ever has in the finals by the Celtics. People just ignore how Steph curry is guarded
@Ayoo Bc it’s not like he drops spots if he loses. He should be cemented in pretty much everyone’s top 15. All he is missing is a FMVP on his resume. If he gets that he has everything he should need to be top 10
amazing ref.. if i hear him say “let me remind you about games 5,6, and 7 where he came up smaller than he is”.. it’s crazy this man legit makes the same argument every damn time
You can't pay Skip Bayless to keep Lebron name out of his mouth for 1 segment 🤦🏿♂️ it doesn't matter what sport is the topic he's going to mention Lebron
Shannon missing golden opportunities. Every time he brings up Steph losing after going 73-9. I’d bring up Brady losing after going 17-0. The exact same thing.
Minute 16-17 was pure comedy. The debate apart, shannon and skip are so good with each other. Pure comedy when they get exasperated with each other's takes.🤣🤣
This what happened when you argued with an old person like Skip. Keep on bringing back the 2016. Like Steph hasn’t accomplished anything after 2016. Go to sleep Skip
Just a heads up, Steph has been to more finals in the last decade than KD has in his whole career, and if he wins this, he will have won the NBA championship more times than the number of times KD has even been to the NBA finals in his whole career.
Skip can´t see the big picture. He always picks one game or one series to describe the "legacy" of a player... There is always an "epic fail" moment of a player which describes his whole career. Since he is doing it every time, I am convinced that he really belives it. So annoying ...
Skip you forget G2P was injured during that series and while he was primary defender ja shot badly over him. Respectfully ja still had 34pts but I do feel you keep both teams healthy it a been a great series. But still Celtics 6 for finals
The way skip talks all the time, it's like he is saying if he was in the game he would have went off and guaranteed a victory. Was Skip even good in High School? lol
They do realize they need to beat Boston in the finals right? The same Boston that swept Kyrie and KD, the same Boston that beat the former champs Milwaukee and just handled Miami in 7. GSW almost got eliminated by Memphis are u telling me Memphis is better than Boston?
"Handled" Miami in 7!.... lol I don't even know where to begin with how idiotic that comment is other than how horrible they played half the series and almost choked it away at the end in what would've been one of the top 5 collapses in a ecf game 7 ever! Goldenstate beat the grizzlies in 6 so idk how they almost got beat... and that's despite the worst officiated series I've ever witnessed. And Boston beating Milwaukee wasn't that incredible considering Middleton didn't play the entire series 🙄
I believe they would’ve eliminated Memphis with JA but I think it probably could’ve went 7. So your correct, Boston is better defensively and offensively than Memphis
My guy , Boston went 7 games against the heat with NO firepower, only jimmy 😂. Imagine steph , klay , Wiggins , poole , porter , kuminga and moody ? Should I continue? GS in 6
Skip, you a little man who makes the same argument on a show that needs interesting takes, not repetitive ones. I am halfway convinced you just script BS.
Whoever came up with this topic should be ashamed of themselves. The series is plenty interesting and exciting as is with all kinds of subjects to dive into, and y’all wanna call Curry’s legacy into question of all things 🤡
When you're a transcendent player like curry is who is gonna go down as an all time great, everytime you get close to a trophy it will affect your legacy, if he wins yall will be the first ones to brag about his legacy and include the newer title so its fair for others to do the same on the opposite spectrum.
@@user-gv1ud2oq1w Basketball and some nfl analysts are the only sports analysts that question a players legacy in the finals through the last possible 7 games and ignore the journey. He hasn’t choked in any games he is literally the most dangerous player in the game due to his ability to stretch the floor and make everyone better. Just because kd was great doesn’t mean Steph wasn’t. Just because lebron was all time doesn’t mean that Steph wasn’t good. Teams will literally pick him up from half court and double team him on the perimeter. People are so caught up in the sensationalising of the sport they refuse to acknowledge the facts in front of them. The man is clearly all time and not a choke artist as everyone would have them believe. Anyone who questions his legacy is a clown. I’m not even a curry fanboy, I personally think he’s changed the nba for the worse. We need to acknowledge these players greatness before they retire.
@@user-gv1ud2oq1w ok - on that same note, he’s built a legacy where the LAST thing you can try to come at him about is a loss in the NBA FINALS. It’d be one thing if the Warriors did horrible but this year, but this man broke the all-time 3 record in a year where he once again played a central role in taking his team to the Finals. I don’t care if they get swept! He did that! Someone like CP3 is a different story because his ability to consistently produce when it matters most has ALWAYS been in question. So of course he’s gonna get crucified for blowing yet another 2-0 lead, when we all know how great he is otherwise.
I like how Skip tried sneaking in a shot at LeBron, saying “Where is LeGone?”, but Shannon was still on the whole commercial topic and didn’t even notice. Skip wanted a reaction, but it didn’t work this time. Nice try, troll.

I think it’s not that important to his legacy because nobody really thinks the Celtic so can beat them. Once it gets to 6 it’s gonna be iffy but if it’s a game 7 it’s gonna matter. Because technically he hasn’t won a ring in a series where everyone was healthy without KD.
I think Shannon is wrong. Steph needs a finals MVP to be on that level with the other top tier greats. Steph is a great right now for sure but a finals MVP puts him in rare territory and kills the narrative that he can’t carry a regular team
Tbh he needs this one more than ever. KD took two from him and Iggy got it the year he should’ve won it. The losses sting tho, especially his performances against the raptors. I go with skip. But he’s still top 25 all time regardless of outcome.
Losses against the raptors do not sting when his team was decimated by injury. He was the first and only option. I don’t understand why analytics (and those who buy into it) insist that to be you can not have a bad game and that the sport is entirely individual. Every player in the history of sports plays bad. Against the raptors Steph was literally getting triple teamed at points forcing him to throw up contested shots and he scored 48 in one of the games. what stings. the only time he played bad was 2016. dude averaged 30 against the raptors and most people don't even blame him for the raptors , they were injured. like what do you people see when you watch Steph play? it's definitely not what other people see.
Are you kidding? If you don't see Steph Curry as a great player who brought the game to everyone, including this old lady, and made the entire world come to every game he plays in and who makes little girls cry to see him then you need a different job, come on !
It’s sickening seeing a personal just hate on a athlete like curry. He just really hates this guy…why? Talking about teams that woulda coulda shoulda beat the warriors, I’m confused. I’m pulling for Curry so bad
Curry’s legacy is not on the line. He is a 2X MVP and the first ever unanimous MVP. He’s a 3 time NBA Champion and been to 6 finals. Also he’s the best shooter ever. Any accolades from this point on just adds to his legacy and will propel him to the top 10 all time and if he keeps going he could be the best point guard ever. If he loses his legacy is still amazing.
Most Important GSW players: 1. Dray (defense/playmaking) 2. Klay (defense/scoring) 3. Curry (scoring) .........its been that way for about 5 years now.
Skip’s reasoning of disliking Curry cause he gave Lebron a “easy ring he didn’t deserve” is insane😭😭You’d think they used to date way he talk about Lebron
I will say this. On the all-time great list. I have Steph ahead of KD. For me to put KD ahead of him, he will have to win a Finals for the Knicks or Hawks. He does that, I'll have no problem putting KD ahead of Steph. Edit: I know it's a crazy hypothetical but for me, it's what he'll have to do.
Skip is so good at pissing me off, I want to ask him his techniques so I can use them sometimes... Durant needed GS, not the other way around for God's sake.
Yes! This is why Chris Broussard is my favorite of the Fox lineup (Emmanuel Acho is second). He came on and debated Skip about his takes on Steph very recently, and now Shannon has the facts and ammo about Steph to counter Skip's biased, inaccurate, and out-of-context arguments. Skip has Magic no. 2 all-time and never brings up "tragic Johnson", but all he brings up about Steph is his last 3 2016 games... never mentioning that Steph was not 100% and actually still played well. Stand up to him, Shannon. Broussard gave you all the points you need.
I hate how people hate KD for joining the warriors, like that wasn’t the perfect fit for KD and still is till this day. The warriors system is perfect for KD. That’s why I believe he went there. KD knew that’s all they was missing was his presence there. I would’ve done the same thing giving the chance. I would’ve even stayed there for the rest of my career. I don’t think it had to do with the warriors record.
