The Bruno Marco match afterward is even crazier but I think Hansen set the tone for the remainder of the finals… and honesty, for years to come at the Lancaster Classic.

I do believe he was barking up the wrong tree with Bodie but Hansen got some onions !!!

Not sure a guy that shot a 900/90x is ever barking up the wrong tree but I do agree Bodie is a very worthy adversary.

Lancaster changed this tournament by adding the 12 in the first place. This is what they wanted. The shooters are just now catching on.

At one point, Bodie hit 9 twelve in a row. One per each end. He may have ended up with more, but I lost track.

Dave Cousins did the same thing last year FYI. He just missed the 12

Check minute 0:37 … I mention that Dave Cousins attempted this but did not succeed.

So Stephan and Mike both lost with this change in their approach to how aggressive they should be with the twelve. Dave Cousins also lost. I do enjoy the amount of excitement it interjects into the sport but I am not sure if it is a winning strategy. I believe that if the twelve was placed closer to the 10/9 ring it would improve the risk taking aspect of the game. This is just too short of a match to come back from a 7,8 or 9. Just my opinion.

Agreed. I think its become a bit of a circus now. Also, the second shooter always has the advantage of shooter #1 having all their cards on the table before shooter 2 is finished. This applies in shootoffs as well... I think if they are keeping this 12 ring business, they need to alternate who gets to shoot first and second. Higher ranking archer can decide who starts the alernation... its the only thing I have come up with to help make it more fair.... I find it most interesting when they use it to catch up after dropping a point or in the final end to get an edge.... when its used in the first or second end and they miss.... you might as well go watch something else for a bit because the match is over... and when an archer comes out of the gate and misses, dropping a 7 on their first arrow... its over before the second archer even fires a shot... they basically get handed a win if they shoot well, which they all can. I would like to see the arrow size get dropped to 23 max and keep spot shooting as it has always been. Its not a game of strategy... never has been and was never supposed to be. Thats why we have 3d shoots. Spot shooting is supposed to be about pure skill and the ability to hit dead center repeatedly. People say they don't like how pros these days never seem to miss.... and I get it, but at the same time those matches remain super tight all the way to the shootoff, at which time someone will win with a closest to center arrow.... so its not like there is no way to decide who wins... and World archery just goes straight to a single arrow shootoff closest to center. I dunno... maybe its just the American way... lets just go all in and make some 29 sized arrows, add an upper 12 and throw a 14 in the middle of the 3 spots, haha.... just get er done!!! lol. In a wierd way it might actually be more fair that way since they have options and a 14 could let them claw their way back after a missed 12. ... world archery will always remain as pure target archery so what the heck... just make a few circus shoots for our entertainment haha. What you said about them losing does have validity though... Everytime Ive seen someone try to get overly aggressive with the 12's, they lose. Next year might have more people trying to be aggressive, but as some of them get bit early on, we might see them ease up on the 12's come 2 or 3 years down the road... once they realize the risk vs reward is a bit extreme... since its basically a loss if the 12 is missed... in 3d it does not carry that much risk... you can easily come back from a missed 12... the problem is that this is not 3d... nor should it be. Spot shooting should just stay spot shooting as its been for hundreds or thousands of years... if the scores are too high and competition is too tight, just drop the arrow size and you will see the scores drop too... I dunno, this is all just my opinion. Clearly some people love it... but I think they only love it when its exciting... once we see these matches get lost in the first 2 arrows people might change their opinion... this shoot just happened to be exciting. When Schloesser missed the 12 I knew it was over and stopped watching ... its really an all or nothing approach for everyone, even the spectators. Either its super exciting... or you may aswell go do something else until the next match, lol.

@@Matt-jl8xf I completely agree and I think it will adversely affect viewership when the match is over in the first three arrows. They either need to shoot more arrows, make the points you lose less or increase the amount of points you gain to a level that almost nullifies what you lost so they can overcome an early miss to continue the match. Even in 3D you only lose a couple off of par going for the twelve or fourteen. But if you got a five every time you went for a twelve or what would be equivalent to a miss with only five targets to shoot going for a fourteen you would see a huge change in the game.

@@RKPT9 100% agreed. 3D and spots are just 2 different games...there is no need to try merge them. Speaking to what you said, I made the shootoffs for the first time this past summer at a local ASA style shoot and I dropped a couple 12's, but I was still in the mix the entire time and was able to manage 3rd...Missing two 12 shots did not totally derail me...its just a totally different game... I think it comes down to the fact that as it currently stands with this lancaster 12 dot, 1 shooter has all their cards on display before the second shooter has fired their arrow. It would be slightly different if there were 5 archers all shooting at once... but in a head to head I'm not sure you can actually make it fair. Maybe they can figure something out for next year. Regardless, its a wicked shoot and I will try make it there every year. Its quite the venue and they do a good job running it. The practice ranges were decent too... I actually had brady ellison stroll up beside me at practice and we started flingin arrows and talking a bit. That was pretty cool.
