I'm in the same boat. I'm a blue collar dude, and the only income in my household, so the budget is tight. i started hunting 3 years ago with a used bowtech assassin. i had success with the bowtech, but i sacrificed, worked OT and saved so i could get a nicer bow. I'd be heartbroken if this happened to my new bow. sucks that this happened and i hope you can get it fixed/ replaced. don't let the trolls and haters get to you.
That’s a crazy set of events man, so sorry to hear about that, and it’s something all us archery lovers fear happening. I know where you are coming from about saving penny’s and building something you truly love! This passion we share is something that I love and understand how much of a stress reliever it can be. It can take a crappy day and make it so much better. I know you are not asking for handouts or anything like that but shoot me your Venmo if you got it. Let me help you out.
if i had to guess, your nock blew up causing the chain reaction to everything happening. when the nock breaks on the shot it’s almost like a dry fire where the transfer of the bows energy doesn’t get transferred to arrow completely causing the derailment. as far as the arrow breaking it’s probably cause you have a cable driven rest that didn’t drop on the shot and because the nock breaks on the shot the arrow will flex in a weird direction hitting the prongs causing the arrow to break. don’t know where you were shooting but if you don’t have the nock end of your arrow i would try and look for it. if you have it or find it, see if your nock is still intact and you might have a better idea of what happened.
I think you are right. It sounded like a dry fire, either something with the arrow broke or it wasn't knocked all the way. I don't know why people want to come up with anything but them making a mistake, it happens to the best of us. I've seen pro shooters forget to put an arrow in altogether.
My son had a similar failure a week ago. The arrow blew up when coming off the bow, and caused the cables to jump off the cams. We're still not sure what caused the arrow to break (it broke clean, a quarter inch in front of the fletchings), but it couldn't be the rest failing to drop, as it was a whisker biscuit. Our theory was that maybe he didn't nock the arrow well, but that's just a guess. Luckily nobody was hurt, and the bow wasn't damaged.
Please do that series man! I would love to follow along, because I have zero confidence in any of my local shops. And am looking into buy all the right equipment to work on my own bows.
@@ElevateHNT That would be epic! I have been using my local shop since 2009 and its just time for me to get my own set up, so I know everything is done correctly. And if something goes wrong I can only blame myself.
Another heads up with limb driven rest is they have to be timed so this same thing could happen again if it’s out of time. I hunted last season with an epsilon and had a lot of timing issues where my vanes hit my blade on the way out. I’m going back to cable driven this up coming season and the epsilon is going on my target bow.
But hopefully everything’s good for ya hoping for the best brotha, worst comes to worst look at the ignites, idk if they still make them but I got mine a few years back for like $450 it would for sure be somthing to look into
Dude, I've had my bow smack off the top of a door frame at my house two or three times and it hasn't messed it up. It's a Matthews but that doesn't make much of a difference
Curious what rest were you using? You say it was limb driven but it looks like (by the looks of the launcher) it was a QAD which is cable driven. Just curious.
Shooting bows is a nice thing, I spent most my childhood shooting comp now just slaying deer, either way fun asf, as of rn got a hoyt ignite pretty much got the thing maxed out @ 6 3” I got that draw length maxed out damn near lmao
My buddy had a drop away rest fail on him and his bow got destroyed! Same thing his bow derailed too. I was a drop away guy but went back to a whisker biscuit just cause I wanted less moving parts. I have never had an issue with a biscuit. I also shoot just as good as my friends that shoot drop alway rest.
Such a random sequence of events that’s strait fucked, had somthing similar with mine but the bow shop fucked up putting my string back on and when I was upping draw weight it blew up on the scale luckily not in my hands but also luckily didn’t fuck my limbs up or anything so just went and snagged a new string
Hype? What hype? Ive used limb driven for twenty years and never a single failure. Trying to piece together what he’s saying, he is saying the “tech” put a limb driven rest cable through a control cable. If that’s the case the rest has nothing to do with this, it’s the set up. That said, if what he is saying is accurate I don’t think the rest would have functioned correctly to begin with. Hard to tell from the vide but looks like it’s a cable driven brand of rest. That would mean the cable wasn’t tied in properly. Either way, it’s not the rest, it’s how the rest was set up.
I switch to a Hamskea Epsilon because my QAD MX2 failed right before TAC on my Lift very similar to his mishap. Fortunately my bow didn’t derail. Since, every chance I get and on every bow I own I have gotten rid of all my QAD cable driven rests and replaced them either the Hamskea Epsilon or the Hunter Pro
@@michaelrea6764facts. QAD in my opinion is cheap plastic garbage. You can hear the plastic rattling in them when shooting. I shoot the ripcord ratchet limb driven and it is by far the best limb driven rest I’ve ever used.
Losing arrows on a 3D course isn’t the only way you go threw arrows. Last 3D I shot I was down 2 arrows after the first 3 targets with broken nocks or a ripped vane.
Great vid. If you have shot a bow long enough, you will have a bow blow up in your hand - its just a matter of time! There are so many factors and this machine is a grenade in your hand and its a matter of time that something gets out of tune i.e. rest, etc. I had a bow blow up in my hand during a shot because the string failed. It was string that only a year old - no reason for that string to break. Now, your Hoyt is a GREAT bow! They test this things with draw firing, etc., now, with that said, you don't want to draw fire a bow. but the good thing is this bow was loaded properly, with an arrow nocked, etc. You are already doing this I'm sure, but have Hoyt or your local shop inspect the limbs, riser, etc. I think you will be ok --- Hoyt is a great bow and they can put up with a lot of abuse. Keep up the content --- I look forward to a follow up vid. The great blessing here is, you were not hurt in the process!
sounds like a nock broke which is a dry fire really just cause the rest failed that would not cause a derail nor make the arrow go into the rest like that not at 80 pounds that arrow is gonna go through the rest forks and veer off from there imo.. ive seen many bows dry fired of all brands and be fine but they where low poundage.
Not being funny but think about getting a nice recurve and going traditional my bow blew up and because I had to go to a 3-D shoot the second day I used a friends recurve and I’ve never switched back to the compound anyway I hope you get the bow that you really want
Hey bro I work in the archery industry and if you need any advice on any thing I’d be happy to try and help, just let me know and maybe we can get this figured out
Hope you can get your bow fixed and get back to shooting I have a Hoyt Maxxis I got from eBay and a Hoyt NitRux that I bought from a local hoyt store here in Ireland
Have you ever thought about switching brands? There’s two brands I know that would cover that under warranty & swap you out if they couldn’t fix it / didn’t feel it was safe.
@@ElevateHNT Mathew’s for sure Guy dry fired a bow at the pro shop & they were gonna do a cam replacement because they were bent or a full bow swap on the new lift. PSE will to , assuming you’re the original owner from the context stated there would be some proof of purchase or registration they can verify as well it wouldn’t be a hassle what’s so ever
contact hoyt maybe they will help you out..if your going thru a dealer he might give you a deal, depends how bad the damage and how much. have you found that out
I have a Hoyt an older one at that and can't say I ever experienced anything like that , but Hoyt is a very reputable company and they should take care of you. Have you ever considered getting into traditional archery ?? None of that mechanical stuff to worry about , I made the switch about 5 years ago and make no mistake about it you have to practice a lot and be dedicated to it for sure , but it is extremely rewarding.Good luck with your bow situation.
Hot has life time lim replacement so don't worry ...cams are not that much brother and I would be surprised if they was bent . I have the venom and my lips had a splinter hoyt said they should be fine but sent me new ones ..just have the shop call
mistakes happen, watching your video still not sure what happened. hoyt may fix it for you have to call and talk to them, i really think they will try and put this on you, and say its not covered.. things happen, ive had a few screw ups myself..good luck
