Also, this is what the league and fans wanted. They didn't want games that were a 90 to 87 point slugfest. Defense was deemed boring and they wanted to see scoring with less physicality and more skill. Players naturally relaxed and the competitiveness died down as well. Ring culture has also dominated everything and led to that being the only thing that matters.
