His legacy is paramount! And he doesn't get enough credit for his most important accomplishment! Saving Carolina's program from the Matt Doherty upheavel! Without Roy, there's no telling what direction the program may have gone! Alot of Carolina fans have been so arrogant due to being spoiled rotten by their success, they forget that proper perspective! Roy deserves the most credit for breathing the needed life back into keeping with the Carolina tradition!
The way SAS comes off like he's the smartest person on the planet and the entire planet is dumber than he is...my god, the most grating person to ever be on TV or radio.

As a Tar Heels fan, I feel like sas disrespected Roy Williams a lot in this video. The video is about Roy and the amazing job he has done, not about who is going to take his job. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love LavelleMoton as our coach, in fact he graduated from my high school. But this video is about Roy, not his successor

It should be about the fact that he restored Carolina's tradition at a time when the cracks we're beginning to appear in the proverbial floorboards! He saved the program from several average seasons! It would have taken a herculean rebuild had Roy not accepted the position when he did
Ideally Roy would have probably preferred retiring on winning a title but I think he's ok with going out by sweeping Duke on the season lol. Great career Roy, one of the best to ever do it!
I hate how Stephen A Smith is always wrong. There should be a fact checker on the screen when he talks. Roy Williams has 3 titles at UNC. It's crazy how he got corrected and still said the wrong number.

Shocker, SAS spends 90 seconds acknowledging one of the greatest coaches ever only to try to immediately get a black person to take the seat that isn’t I’m even cold yet. SAS takes every opportunity imaginable to make something about race. The best coach available that wants the job should get it, regardless of race.

Levelle Moton is a good coach for sure, his record speaks for itself and so does his story. Hiring him simply because he's black is a disservice to him and what he's accomplished. He can recruit, nearly beaten Dook, been the NCAA tournament, from Raleigh, etc. I think if they want to take a peak at him that's great but to do so purely because he's black is pandering and wrong. Hubert Davis, Steve Robinson and Sean May have been assistants at UNC for a long time and it would be to undercut them by doing so as well.
I'm so happy he retired had a great run but UNC has been hard to recognize and the recruiting has been going elsewhere which is unheard of the lack of talent we've had in comparison to other programs
I live in chapel hill, and nccu is not even 30 miles apart, stephen A is right it's right there. Also the same state system does the hiring for all NC state colleges and universities.

@@kcook8023 Seriously after all this time! I mean u won a national championship in '08 by trampling over Roy and the Tar Holes enroute to the crown and then trampled over him and Carolina again in the 2012 tournament to get to the FF! U should have felt vindication!

Having said all that = Now that I've complimented this person let me now disrespect their whole career Video about Roy Williams legacy, Stephen A. shoves him aside and starts talking about other coaches trying to take his job.
He saw the effects of the new transfer rules and said, I'm out. College basketball is going through a major power shift from schools to players. I'm not saying it's bad just different. The era of college basketball that he mastered doesn't exist anymore.
He is also pretty old. I worked for a rival college basketball team of UNC. Coaches at that level of competition that find that level of success are busy and on the road all year long. Even without one and done.

Roy Williams is an absolute legend and class act! He will truly be missed. That 2009 UNC squad was one his greatest teams.. Green, Ellington, Lawson Hansborough and Thompson 👀
The '09 squad was his penultimate! Once Lawson returned from his foot injury after the first weekend of that NCAA tournament, the rest of the bracket became a complete walkover! Those guys we're a buzzsaw
'05 not far behind, but '09 gets my nod narrowly! And it's actually due to Ellington! He was the best two-guard Roy had at Carolina! His perimeter game is the reason I barely take '09 over '05

Correction, UNC is both 8 miles apart from Duke and NCCU, respectively. ALSO, correction, Coach Williams won THREE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS at UNC ONLY! He did not win at Kansas! Correction, he has won 3 national championships @ UNC of Chapel Hill. Jay Wright knows nothing about the state and Levelle should be a strong candidate for the job.
In order to be a coach at Carolina, one has to be an alum of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. That is an absolute requirement. You have to be a Carolina man, period.
I think Stephen A was trying to say that Lavelle Moton should have had the NC State job three years ago, which is true. But Carolina is gonna have their pick of the litter. As a State grad and fan, it pains me to say but its the truth, UNC is probably the second or third best job in college basketball. Coaches that might not move for another job would probably at least consider UNC. The combination of UNC's heritage, resources, money, recruiting, fan base, and facilities is hard to top.
