Shanahan I think felt like the B-Side to Robert Griffin's A-Side and like Griffin had more sway with the owner than he did as an older, respected coach who won Super Bowls under John Elway. When Griffin was recovering from that knee injury, instead of bringing him along like you normally see with franchise QB's, the Shanahans threw Griffin to the wolves and had him taking crazy amounts of pass attempts, exposing him to the risk of re-injury. Keep in mind he was entering just his second year, but they had him passing as if he was an 8-year all-pro veteran who was long pass that learning curve that young QB's have to get pass. Always thought Shanahan had the perfect face to star as the devil in a bible-based movie...always red and evil-looking for no reason.
