DA said in his pre draft interview that his gaols in the nba were to "secure that 2nd contract, that my success" 😂😂.. got his bag and dont care about rings
Sunk cost fallacy, I suppose. They picked him #1, when they could've picked Luka, JJJ, Trae or SGA. If they let him walk straight up, they'll look foolish. Even though by waiting until he got an offer sheet elsewhere makes it clear that they don't want him that much either.
I was so shocked myself, like I really struggle to understand how a slow dude like Jokic can dominate more athletic guys like this 🤣🤣😂😂. Jokic can’t even run yet he keeps on whooping teams out from arenas. Like what the hell.
I agree with you 100%! A lot of players have that I got my money so what. Some player’s are just basketball player’s. They do the bare minimum. They don’t care about the Chip. All they know is, I am out the ghetto/hood. It’s like working a regular 9-5 job. They keep the same energy for 10 year’s on a job. Never wanting to move up. They do the bare minimum to keep working and paying bill’s. Good worker but lazy man mentality. Don’t wanna move up in the company, rather stay stagnant.
for somewhat that's all they need. nothing wrong with that at all. we scrutinize but fail to realize it takes a certain type of discipline to reach the potential of the people we scrutinizing. if they 9 to 5 workers in nba bodies, then f it. they happy and paid
@@dwannthomas9543 Well if that’s how they want their life to be, then by mean (settle.) But stop complaining about hour’s and how much money you make. Because we do have some control of our money. Why work some where and you don’t wanna advance yoself. You either lazy, scared or don’t believe in yourself. Anything I do I try to be the best!!!
@@14dfree after seeing all this over the recent years i agree. Max should be 3 years. Its crazy how so many owners give the bag to an up an coming player who decides to be lazy once they get it. Its annoying to watch as a fan.
He does, but Ayton didn't even put up a fight. It was like them old school boxers who took the first Mike Tyson jab and went down. Knowing they getting paid
Why is everybody acting like DA should’ve done well against Jokic? Why can’t we just accept the fact that Jokic owned this brother, and many other brothers cause he’s simply better?
Maybe Stephen A. should rewatch his pre-draft comments about DA? He was the biggest fan of DA and he said it is of paramount importance for Suns not to mess it up by taking anyone else than DA (esp. that kid from Europe (Doncic))!
I agree, dude is soft as hell! I'm sorry I'm from 90 era with real big men. These bugs r trash. No post up game, miss me with this era is better, no hearing it.
I just can’t get with this take. Jokic murders everyone. The one game Ayton didn’t play the Suns got the beating of a lifetime. Game was over after the first quarter without Ayton
That’s a fact but he shoulda put his gear on and got on the court with his brothers for game 6. Even if he didn’t play much it would’ve made a statement. Denver knew when he was out it was game over.
One guy attempted 21FGA and the other 9FGA. One guy has the ball every possession and the other is forced to set screen for Booker and KD every possession. Ayton shot the ball decent when he got it, 10 & 8 on 58% shooting. It's not really a fair fight. Ayton was actually a good defender when he had Jokic on 1v1, Jokic just made a lot of tough shots. Also, the Suns can't rebound or block out and often leave Ayton on an island to do all that by himself. When he contests a shot, nobody comes to help and the Suns often give up easy offensive rebounds. I'm glad Monty got fired, because his coaching was atrocious. Suns fans are some of the worst as they like to blame Ayton for everything.
I agree to a certain extent. But Aytons attitude and lack of urgency was such a diminishing factor for the suns in the series. It was so apparent that he quit, in a series that he was so important in, regarding the matchup with the Jokic. It dose suck cause I really wanted to win with Monty as the head coach but I think it was the right decision to move on from him. I think he’s lost the locker room tbh.
Ayton never wanted to be there before this season started the minute he got a slight injury he was gonna sit. CP0 should retire too he's stealing the Suns' money
I am not a Stephen H Fan. But he is SPOT ON about Ayton. Actually, DeAndre Ayton should have been the 1st one to go. Pitiful performance. No 1 draft pick, 32 mil a yr. got paid and laid down. All the way down! He gotta come way up for Phx fans to love him. Best to..trade him off.
He still getting paid max money to play. I support players getting their fair share but recent years have shown that players dont deserve these lucrative contracts. Ben Simmons, Julius Randle, Ayton, the list goes on. Play hard when its time for a new contract then be a bum once u get the contract while teams and fans lose out. Enough is enough.
Stephen A you have no clue what you are talking about. Ayton, Bridges, and Cam Johnson weren't developed properly by Monty Williams. You see Bridges in Brooklyn? Monty let CP3 do his thing until it was over. Let's see what Ayton does at his next stop
Pretty smug talk coming from a spaz, like ayton lost to a nobody even when all NBA superstar bigmen says Joker is the real deal. Just pray Jokic and the Nuggets dont end up smacking Lebron and AD, cause then SAS and the Bandwagon ESPN crew will have no choice but to talk about Denver, and the Nuggets and Jokic would most likely, as they should, give them the cold silent treatment. SAS is all about the hype, he doesnt know the analytics, the X's and O's of the game, wouldnt know raw talent if it hits him in the face.
I just couldn't understand why Suns didn't trade Ayton to Nets when they had the chance. It may need a third team to absorb Simmons' contract or Suns to waive Simmons after acquiring him, but it's 10x better than losing Mikal and Cam Johnson. In hindsight, I give Sean Marks 9 out of 10 for the deal. He can now go back to James Jones and ask Ayton for Simmons straight up and Suns may actually accept it because Simmons has only 2 years left on the deal.
@Stephen A. Smith i know why tua threw for 469 yds on our defense this past year, and i know why vicks arm was so impressive. the earth🌎 spins counterclockwise. when a right handed qb throws the ball in the air, centripetal force is at work therefore increased drag. when a left handed qb throws the ball centrifugal force is at work therefore increased lift. in other words, vick and tebow still can win a super bowl
I think there needs to be a spotlight on the Pheonix Suns org. Theyve had great players ans great coach and yet they keep bad players, bad contracts and fire good coaches.
@@timbrown9796 Walter Davis, Kevin Johnson, Charles Barkley, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Kevin Durant. But, they should have taken Doncic as the #1 pick instead of Ayton.
sas you're foreally trippin' dude, Slow or not, Joker has mad skills,Him and Embiid just play awkward ball and sometimes its tough to guard cats like that, especially Centers! cmon now, dont make Ayton your scapegoat
Thats racism at its finest. If the joker was black he would praise his selfishness, passing, and overall efficiency. But since he is white. He goes straight to the throat with the stereotypes “he cant jump” “he is boring” and so on. Even though we have all seen the joker dunk and make incredible passes.
Yeah but in his mind since joker is the most unathletic player in the league, other guys should be feasting on him but he also has bias against non Americans
Stephen A is calling for Kawhi Leonard’s retirement but really he should call for Chris Paul’s retirement as well because when you hit 39, you can’t play basketball at that stage anymore.
Deandra ayton didnt want to be there ask for a trade when he didnt get his money another team wanted him and suns matched the offer and ayton had to take less money instead suns could have offer more money
The suns did offer him more money, they offered him 150 million but he turned that down. So they let negotiations spill over into the off-season and let the market set his value. That's when the pacers came 2 weeks into free agency and offered him that 133 million. So suns matched it. Wasn't going to let their former number 1 overall walk for nothing. Couldn't find no trade partners, nets Wasn't interested. So ayton sold himself short 17 million.
@@pluto_nation lol what either you pay the man or let him go, he didnt want to play for the SUNS for 150 million because monty was terrible there and the organization treated him like trash. like DA is saying, you can pay me 150 i still dont want to play him and yall still kept him -_-
Lakers losing and jokic is still getting monster numbers. Blame Deandre Ayton!!!!! I can’t believe Stephen a smith. Your assessment of basketball is so wrong
I'm a Suns fan, and in my opinion Ayton has turned out to be nothing but a chump who has no character. He's a Premadonna that has a lot to learn about life and that of sacrifice (not for self, but the best for all involved). He's got the talent, but not the heart of a champion; at least not yet.
Just using him as a excuse just to covered up his boyfriend kd bad performance in the semifinals against the nuggets , Monty Williams wasn’t making adjustments barely was playing his bench guys tho man had a rib contusion tho
Your take on Ayton is awful. He was absolutely squandered under Monty, in a vastly flawed system that gave Book and KD between 50-60 shots, and made him nothing but a glorified screen setter 🤦🏻♂️ Of course he lacked motivation. It's like making a janitor out of a potential scientist and expecting a nobel prize. New coach = new system = new Ayton.
Ayton cant catch, pass, dribble, execute a play, block out, rebound. He is a turnover machine. You heed to be able to do some of those things at a G league level for tyere to ge any reason to put him on the floor. Ayton saw way too many minutes.
Where was Devin Booker? Where was Kevin Durant, the supposed best player on the planet? For the second straight season in an elimination game AT HOME, the Suns lose by 30? And so, Stephen A wants to blame Aytom? You gotta be kidding me!
KD and Book were playing 40+ minutes for the last 4 weeks, obviously at some point they were going to hit a wall, that's when Monty should have had the other guys ready (next man up mentality)
Ayton is the scapegoat. He's foreign. Stephen A is xenophobic. Monty should have been fired last season after that embarrassing loss to the MAVS & Willie Green of the Pelicans almost ending his season without Zion. In a weak West, Monty & the Suns weren't even in the conversation with Denver, Memphis & Sacramento. They were a borderline play in team. His team was horrible, so the fact that media picked them to go far just because of KD shows you that the media does not watch most games & everything is just hype. Ayton could play better, but let's face it, he went up against 2 two time MVPs in Giannis & Jokic over 2 seasons. How many people have an answer for them? Giannis always averages 30+ points in the postseason so I don't know who stops this guy. Jokic also ups his game in the postseason. So what do you expect Ayton to do? Both guys are phenomenal players, but Stephen A. has to choose which foreign player he will hate on the most in such scenarios. It was on Monty to make the adjustments. When Ayton is on the floor, there's no one else to help with the box out...he sets screens for Booker & CP3 & only gets looks on an offensive rebound or when CP3 feeds to him down low. Quite frankly, I feel that Monty places more emphasis on backcourt play & scenarios than he does frontcourt & his game plan is mostly iso play (let the stars go to work). In the short time KD was there, you can see from the bench talk that he built a relationship with Ayton. The right coach would know how to exploit that, just like how KD built great chemistry with Claxton. Claxton went down in production after KD left, but Jacques Vaughn gave KD the space to play with Nic like that. How flexible was Monty? Nice guy means nothing when you can't coach a talented bunch to a chip. The new owner saw all that he needed to see. 30+ points blowout at home in a win or go home situation & Ayton didn't play (probably Coach's decision). Stephen A. needs to wake up & take a chill pill and stop clowning players unnecessarily & do some real basketball analysis. Shannon's podcast gets 5 times the views as this on most videos by the way. His recent sit down with Steve Harvey is already at almost 5mil views. I wonder why people are more attracted to that style of commentary? Take a page out of his book SAS. He's later to the game than you & he's already taking over.
They had low scoring games just like Murray against PHX so let's not act like great players don't have off games , Books average was just under 36 pts and Durant was under 30 even while playing poorly , where was Aytons ? Ayton played Joker better 2 yrs ago in the playoffs when Joker was the MVP , this year Ayton was just a spectator , so many clips of him watching Joker battle with KD for rebounds and Ayton standing there flat footed watching ! He had low point and rebound production missing close shots and that's a fact so yeah PHX needs to trade him and get what they can for him and Paul and just build around Book and KD !
Okay...I expect a professional journalist to divorce his emotions from the stories he covers. A fan can be emotional and full of ridiculous, biased takes....a PROFESSIONAL journalist isn't supposed to behave like a fan. You're NOT the story Stephen A, you're not supposed to live for sharing your EMOTIONS. You're supposed to live for sharing the unbiased facts...if you're a professional journalist, which you stopped being as soon as you got on camera and realized that there was more money in being a professional personality than there is in being a professional journalist.
