As a Cowboys fan, we do suck. Jerry cares more about his money than actually building a champion. Mike is a decent coach, and he's probably the best we will get. Why? Because people forget the Jerry factor when it comes to who coaches the Cowboys. Bill Parcells left after 4 years, in part (in my view) due to the TO situation, so why would Belichick want to follow BP when he saw what Jerry did there? Why would Harbaugh go to the Cowboys when Jerry won't give him the control he wants? The next best options are probably Vrabel or Flores, who I'd be all for, but I don't know if Flores would want to coach here, and Vrabel probably wants to buy the groceries too. So yeah, we are stuck. The truth of the matter is this. We are not close to a championship. We are not physical enough where it matters. We do not run the ball nearly well enough to compete in the latter stages of the playoffs. We do not stop the run very well. We have safeties playing linebacker. For all the hype our defence gets, there are cracks in the seams that are deeper than just who's at QB. Dak isn't perfect and neither is Mike, but they are not the sole or biggest problems with the Cowboys. The biggest problem is Jerry. I'll also state that the lack of activity since the Brandon Carr flop (excluding the Gillimore and Cooks trades, which was a nice surprise) in FA has been shockingly bad. I get that we have cap issues, but there doesn't seem to be urgency or a contingency plan for when players get hurt. They stood pat during the trade deadline when it was clear that there were glaring problems staring us in the face, and Jerry did nothing. So no, we are not close. The Cowboys will always be my team, and I'll always support them. That said, the honest truth about the team is that the Cowboys are not close at all to a Super Bowl.

As a Dallas Native, I always have to explain to people when they ask the difference between a Fan and a supporter. I'm a Cowboys supporter because I support my home team like I'd hope most everyone else would, ride or die for your cities Best! But I CANNOT be a fan of the Cowboys, and who runs them. Jerry gets under everyone's skin, and that doesn't just go for Dallas. We're screwed for a long while and we've all accepted it, we just like to enjoy the circus at this point!

It seems like Jones fancies the wrong things too much, while ignoring the glaring flaws. The Romo-era team should have won a SB for sure, but he never addressed their fatal weaknesses (poor OL and secondary that gave up too many big plays) that tripped them up every year. Then he let Prescott hold the team hostage for multiple seasons with his contract demands, hamstringing team development, only to see Prescott - with the great OL that Romo never had - let down the team in every game that really matters. Every Cowboys team since Aikman left the building feels like this - lots of talent, but complacency and ignoring of flaws that every fan can see, that play out like a broken record each year. It's the opposite of a team like New England, where Belichick reinvented the team several times to navigate what was needed to succeed. Right now the Cowboys need both a coach and QB who rise to the occasion, and they have neither. I remember how Foles and Pederson rose to the occasion, big time, against the Pats. The Cowboys would rather have regular-season stats over guys who prove it when it counts.

If the cowboys ever do win the Super Bowl I think these pundits heads will explode. Now that’s a big if, don’t get me wrong.
