This topic drives me crazy. And what drives me even more crazy is how we Christians get dragged through the mud EVERY time we open our mouth. Kirk came on the Pierce Morgan show yes. However, you could CLEARLY tell that Pierce snuck up on Kirk with that question. Watch the video again if you have to. Pierce tried to do a sucker punch on Kirk and I think Kirk handled it very well for not being prepared for a question with so much sensitivity and controversy behind it. Kirk voiced his opinion with HONESTY. Had Kirk gave a diplomatic or "politically correct" answer to avoid controversy, he would have been splashed all over the media talking about how he's a "fake Christian" and hypocrite. If your employer, movie producer, etc feels that your presence would be disruptive or produce an adverse reaction by the consumers, they are well within their right to fire you. People don't have the right to NOT be offended, but they DO have the right to be offended and to tell your employers just how offended they are, even demanding your removal. The truth is that homosexuality and gay marriage are wrong. God is the authority. Such has been previously acknowledged, by law, that we are a nation which “Trusts In God”. And, God is love, just, righteous, and forgiving. Meaning…a just and pure God cannot and will not let “wrong (homosexuality)” go on forever, especially when a nation condones wrong. People are either for God, or against God. Ultimately, they either choose to believe in God, follow His Word, the Bible, and do right in His eyes; or they choose to not believe. Problem is, the evidence of God is so irrefutable that we are without excuse, when it comes to believing. We must not be deceived in believing homosexuality is right, when God teaches otherwise. Importantly, God doesn’t want any to not accept what is right, but unfortunately many will refuse to accept Him. As a nation, we need to have the courage to stand up for what is really “right”, as previous generations have done, and not be deceived. It's not his "husband" and it's not their "wedding" day. It's his HUSBAND, and it was legalized on their WEDDING day. I would argue that you are imposing your agenda right now. The point is, we have a division of religion and state, and everyone in the US should be treated equally among society and under the eyes of the law. Period. You can still have your personal opinions, and you can still publicly state those opinions, but that does not mean that you can discriminate, defy law, and expect it to be without consequence. Refusing to treat someone equally and imposing superiority over someone else is the literal definition of bullying, and that is exactly what people who are against LGBT rights have done for a very long time. That is the right thing to do. If you're a baker or florist, your job is to bake the cake or make the floral arrangement, that is what your job is limited at. I would hope that any gay couple would sue a business who refused service to them because that business needs to learn the lesson that it is wrong to DISCRIMINATE. Im a from the UK and spent a lot of time in the USA during 1995- 2000. I was horrified at how much air time was being given to what (according to UK perspectives) was extremist fundamental christian views. Thankfully, it seems this is now changing. It seems now that even the republicans in the USA are realising that there is a growing number of people who believe in equality. The hatred I encountered towards me as a gay man whilst I was in the USA will be forever etched into my mind but also I now see that that there is another, more rational voice counteracting this religious extreemism.

However, the old testament has been written before Jesus was preaching his lessons. So if we look into his message, which I believe is the heart of Christianity, we find the key message which certainly is that you should only judge on someone if you are free of sins yourself and that god gave the life of his son and showed a remarkable level of forgiveness. So I would say.... we are not fucked (yet). At least not on a religious base. Politically we are entirely fucked but that was a majority vote ;-). Concerning Cameron's claim that homosexuality is destructive to civilization, we should realize that the ancient Greeks who are credited with being the cradle of Western civilization actively promoted homosexual relationships and they did just fine advancing institutions we value today. They also rose in power to dominate the known world and left a lasting legacy in art, politics, science, philosophy etc. Concerning Cynthia Nixon, she is obviously bi-sexual. The bi-sexual is attracted to both men and women so the choice of a partner includes a choice of being in a heterosexual relationship or a homosexual one depending on the sex of the person they decide to partner with. This is a different situation than for someone who is either gay or straight who are either attracted to only their same sex or their opposite sex and choices of partners are only from among one gender.

People always bring up America's Christian tradition, and yes, there's no doubt that Christianity was a major part of early American culture during and after the founding of the nation, but that doesn't mean you have to appeal to tradition on every issue. I'm not an American, by the way (Canadian), but I do know that America is a secular nation. Even disregarding that, does anyone know how diverse Christianity is? There's a lot of contention on the issue of homosexuality within all the major religions, be it Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, etc. These people that want their religion to dictate people's lives and have that supported by the government don't realize how dangerous that is and, additionally, how much that will endanger their faith. What if the government is basing its decisions of the "wrong" Christianity. See how easy it is for that to happen? Don't let your own personal faith be the basis for everyone's freedoms or rights. Think about society beyond your religious view.

That's great, I love students, now please explain to me this: there are approximately 3% of homosexuals in usa. And with my assumption not even half of them will marry their gay partner. And many of them understand that gay marriage is wrong. How in the world did they get so popular? They are all over the news. They are in all movies, and even obama is waving the gay flag? And furthermore, this country has began to teach about gays as early as kindergarten. Why all that for 1% of the population? Next question: following same logic, "love" is the number one argument for gay marriage, if we find 3% of americans that want to marry their pets, should we allow it? How about pedophilia? If not why draw the line there? In Europe they are already having discussion of that.

No. An animal has no legal standing. An animal can't feel intimacy towards a human being. They can react out of instinct to hump, but it's not because they have intimate feelings for them. I have wondered that since I was a little kid. My late uncle went through HELL in the early 80’s. Even in a fairly liberal city like St Louis, he still dealt with hate constantly. It REALLY messed him up, knowing people HATED him bc of his sexuality. I remember him drinking too much regularly, especially holidays. He would show up at our house completely intoxicated and in despair. I was about nine years old overhearing him crying to my mom that his mother had disowned him. I was so sad learning what that meant even at that age. I TRULY believe most individuals that spend their time promoting hate by being “ANTI Gay” and “ANTI Gay marriage” have issues. I think most hard core “ANTI Gay” people are that way for a reason. Most are deeply closeted and hate themselves.
